Tremendous food great service very nice place to meet others in Boston
Something of a disappointment based on prior strong reviews. The chicken tenders were quite tasty, and the beer was good. Tots, mac and cheese, tacos, and shawarma (both sandwich and bowl) all... meh...
Our family of Six enjoyed a thoroughly magical evening at 5-Horses.
dinner with friends on a very busy Friday night. The service was great - cheerful and prompt, but it was almost too noisy to talk without shouting. Food was fine but not the focus.
Amazing food and service. Five Horses never disappoints. Just love the champagne flight and the unique twist on each entree. And the staff couldn’t be nicer. Thank you for making our visit so special!!
The food was delicious! I originally Thought brunch was until 4 but it actually ended @3:30 and due to the mixup, the manager re-opened the kitchen JUST for my brunch order. ELLIOT IS THE MAN!!! Both waitstaff, Lucy & Chris, were incredibly personable and accommodating. I honestly had a great solo brunch date & will be back for more. The Avo toast + southern comfort were delicious, well seasoned and cooked. The biscuits were light n fluffy, the eggs equally light + scrumptious, I honestly have nothing bad to say! Just eat here!! I found a new fave 🥰🥰
Our bartender Shelby was wonderful. Super friendly and made the experience that much better. Food is always solid here and the energy is easy and fun.
Very lively place with a rustic tavern look and feel. Service was excellent. The music was a bit too loud for quiet conversation, but the server kindly moved us away from the speaker. The music was still a bit too loud, but the noise level went up anyway as more people arrived and were seated. The food was excellent. Would definitely recommend a meal there if in the area.
Very loud group and little noise control. Many menu items and popular drinks weren’t available as it was a Sunday evening. Service was good, staff checked in regularly. Food was tasty.
This was our first time back in over a year and a half and we were glad we chose Five Horses Tavern. The updated menu was terrific, and the service was excellent. Definitely try the improved cornbread appetizer, it is amazing. The atmosphere was awesome!
The seasonal sangria pitcher was an awesome bargain. Clove infused with orange slices floating on top.
The cornbread was delicious. Warm gooey center with melted butter comes out in the cast iron skillet. A MUST order!!
Service was friendly and helpful. All the staff was great!!
I recommend this place to everyone!
Really disappointing dinner last night at Five Horses. They were clearly understaffed; we were given water once - and never had our glasses refilled again the rest of the night. Had to ask for silverware; no one came to check on us once we got our meals as to whether we needed anything. Order was incorrect, so made due with what we were given - as it was clear they weren’t coming back. Tried to put our party at a two top - even though we had reservations and could have never fit at the table comfortably. And the food was mediocre - at best. I would not recommend and certainly wouldn’t eat there again.
Awesome little tavern with great food and beer and a friendly staff
The team could not have been more accommodating for our group, and great food as always!
I always enjoy Five Horses and the beer menu is definitely back up to full speed. Great wait staff, super attentive and helpful.
Mimosa flight was delicious. Ordered the apple cider donuts, chilaquiles and hue is rancheros. All three were incredible but I’d go for the chilaquiles over huevos rancheros.
Food is solid.
Food and atmosphere is great. Really enjoyed the outdoor patio
The experience was great overall! I’ll definitely go back the next time I’m in Boston.
Out of all the places we ate at in Boston this place was the best! Food & service was great!
1st time back since the pandemic and glad to be back.
Five Horses Tavern has a great beer list and a wonderful vibe. Service was friendly and attentive. My main feedback would be for more vegan options. Several of the menu options could potentially be made vegan, so specifying that would be helpful. There was a "vg = vegan" menu key code, but only one menu item was vegan (the white bean hummus, which was good.) Would love to come back if they expanded plant-based/vegan options.
Too noisy for most of the time, although it did improve some when they turned the background music down
Went for my birthday with my 2 friends - great experience and good food. Id definitely recommend the cornbread as an appetizer and the Mule for a drink.
Wish it was a better experience, had dined here before the pandemic and wanted to go back as I had great dining experience.
The service was slow and the server was inattentive despite asking for a couple of items and not getting them, we still tipped the 20% as times are tough everywhere…
The tater tots were dry with little topping compared to last time. The salads were just OK and fried chicken was super dry. Will be a while before we try it again.
There were 12 of us there to celebrate my 18 yr old's birthday.
We had a wonderful time the waitress and host were very accommodating.
We will definitely recommend this place to others.
we will no doubt be returning
Only thing wrong was that I received a message that I didn’t attend from open table and that makes me concerned that it will effect my future reservations.
Top-notch food & service. The donut holes are reminiscent of beignets in New Orleans -- fresh, piping hot, dusted in confectioner's sugar. Scrumptious!
Menu varied including wide and interesting drink options. Great beer list. Friendly atmosphere. Terrific brunch.
Wonderful dinner with a friend. Perfect weather for eating outside. Our salads and drinks, perfect. Thank you!
My favorite go to restaurant in S End. I do live close by and it’s convenient but I’m blessed. The food is comfort food with amazing flavor. Unique items without being weird. Plates are perfect size. Not too big nor small. Easy to share but not too much for one either. Not over priced. Casual but classy comfortable but not lazy atmosphere. Waitstaff are pleasant. I never feel like I had to wait long for food or service
Great food and drinks, nice outdoor and indoor seating. Definitely worth it- the Mac n cheese is amazing!!
I am gluten free and they were great about telling me what my options were
We came for brunch and it was really not good. The service was probably some of the worst I have ever received. The gal working acted extremely inconvenienced that we even came.
It was very nice, servers are super attentive and they were super helpful with my two little ones. I invited some friends that were new to this place and they loved it.
Food was wonderful, staff was very accommodating to special requests, gave us a choice of tables. Great beer section.
Can’t wait to go back. Food was exceptional. Where this place really shined was service. My husband and I eat out frequently and haven’t had this type of service in a very long time.
Service was great!
I always enjoy Five Horses Tavern in the South End. We were easily able to get outdoor seating, but was nicely spaced out, quiet street, easy to talk and the beer selection is back to their usual standards. Great place and great service.
