We arrived early for a reservation for five people and were greeted and accommodated quickly by friendly staff. Everyone in our party loved what they ordered, including well made cocktails and desserts. I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant to friends as a cozy alternative to other noisier places that offer standard pub fare.

Not your average tavern fare; much more creative. Fabulous selection of beer. Very crowded but could still hear conversation.

I notified the waitress that our group was attending a show and she was very attentive to ensure that we left on time so that we weren't rushing out the door. When we arrived for dinner, the place was starting to pick up and get busy, but the amount of customers didn't disrupt our service. Ambiance is like any other bar/restaurant. Food was good, too! Tacos are my typical go to. If you get a chance to stop in for their brunch menu, I highly recommend this as well.. This a place that I continue to come back to and never feel disappointed.

This was my first time here for dinner, but I always come for brunch and dinner is just as great. The shakshuka is one of my favorites and my friends loved it, too. Service, food, and drinks were all great. It was noisier because of the Patriots game, so great spot if you want TVs and to watch sports. One of my vegan friends loves this place because they can accommodate her make changes to items as well.

Went out with 14 co-workers for a Thursday happy hour. Booked the reservation online that morning. Seating was perfect, right in front of the fire. We had such a good time and everything was great. Lots of outstanding drinks to choose from and a comprehensive beer list. Ambiance was excellent. Already talking about doing it again there.

Great brunch spot with an eclectic selection. However, when it's quiet on a Sunday morning post-snow storm, the restaurant should spread parties out more and not squish them into one corner.

Very nice restaurant with a nice selection of brunch and lunch options. Huge beer menu with lots of regional craft beers that are fantastic. Had the breakfast pizza that was very good. I would recommend to anyone looking for a group outing in the Davis area.

Absolutely fantastic food across a really broad range of cuisines. Was a good bit disappointed by some notably inattentive staff, however. Still great overall, would still recommend, will certainly be back again.

The food was great as always and the cocktails were well-made. The beer list and food menu will please almost anyone. Two members of our party came for their first time and the item they wanted (duck burrito) was not available at brunch but they were able to find something else. The food and drinks are consistently top notch and the value is fairly on par for the area. The drawback is the service. It is very hit or miss. I have had fantastic servers ( Tyler and I believe Michael) there, but just as likely to get slow spotty service. We brunch here and around Davis, Southie and South End regularly so don't mind waiting for food at a busy brunch, the issue usually comes if we need anything else: sauce, water / drink refills, etc. server often goes MIA. All in all would recommend Five Horses highly but know what you're in for service wise.

This is a nice, solid place for brunch with a varied and good menu. The service was pretty impeccable--a very sweet, accommodating waiter. Everything was tasty, and a few brunch entrees were definitely shareable because they were big. The round, elevated booths are kinda fun, too.

Nice atmosphere, but a little loud. Servers pleasant and kitchen was good at customizing orders. One criticism is that the brunch menu did not have much for lite options.

The cornbread app. was really delicious and could almost be a desert. Creme brulee was the best I ever had. Our steak was quite tough and I would not recommend that. Maybe we should have know better because it was not a tender cut. Fried chicken was very good the sides of potatos and macaroni were ok . That being said we still cleaned out plates. Service was great. The servers had great personality and humour.

We went to Five Horses for the first time prior to a Peter Wolf concert in the Somerville Theater. I'd like to say first our server (I wish I remembered her name) was just outstanding. Came by just often enough and was engaging and nice, and just kept things rolling. Made good food and beer recommendations. My friend and I both had the standard burger and it was great. The beer list is expansive, both on tap and bottles. They had some great German beers on tap + lots of craft beers. All in all it was great - my first time there.

We went to the restaurant on the Saturday night of Parents’ Weekend at Tufts. The place was packed which is a great thing for the establishment and the local economy but I think that they may have been unprepared for the big turnout. For example, the two dishes that members of our group wanted to try (the fried chicken & the ribs) were no longer available yet the dish that I had (pulled pork with grits) was really good. In addition, the chicken tenders appetizer was delicious and filling.
The overall cost of the meal was reasonable and the portions were generous.
This restaurant was certainly good enough to revisit.

They have a large beer selection, although their waiters/waitresses are not able to recommend a beer due to lack of knowledge. If you know what you like, this is the place to grab a beer with your friends and enjoy great food. It is also a great weekend brunch spot!

Sorry to say, we had an awful experience-The noise level was ridiculously loud with head banging music we could barely hear each other to catch up. Also quinoa served with the salmon was so heavy with an over powering vinegar like flavor it was almost inedible...left a lot behind. :(

A plus was that the staff all seemed very pleasant!

Location in Davis Square is this bar/restaurant's greatest asset. Nearby to the Somerville Theatre and all of the other bars, restaurants and cafes in the square. It is an active social public square in America's most densely populated city. Excellemt bourbon selection, reminded me of Nashville, but expensive. Also excellent beer selection. The food is excellent, not too pricey, but not inexpensive either. There is a variety of seating styles. I wanted to watch the football game while I was there, and I did, but the video screens were very small and inadequate unless seated at the bar. Liked it, but would probably try somewhere else next time I'm in the square.
