We have eaten at most of the popular places in Davis Square but this was definitely the best
This was a very cool bar...but a terrible restaurant.
The food was abysmal and the service was not great. We ordered a starter which took over half an hour to arrive - we actually had to remind the waiter we'd ordered it. It at least tasted good.
Everything else we ordered was just so bland and lackluster. I ordered the shroom pizza, which was white (even though it didn't say it on the menu, so I was disappointed about that). I'm a vegetarian, so I asked for it without sausages. Heavy, overly cheesy, and greasy, it was disappointing. Also, it had sausages on it.
I didn't try the food of the other members of our party, but one of my friends didn't even finish hers and the other two said their wraps were flavorless.
Disappointed, we thought we'd try the dessert. Reader, I can't remember the last time I didn't finish a chocolate cake. It's so easy to get right - even Chilli's can do it! - but this cake didn't taste of anything, much less chocolate. The pumpkin fritters were heavy, greasy, undercooked dough balls with 0 pumpkin flavor. Both were left on the plate after everyone had tried a bite.
The beer menu was varied and excellent. The ambiance was just what I wanted - festive, not too loud but still lively, fun. But the food sucked. Go for a drink, but not for dinner.
We had a great experience! They were able to seat 10 of us together, in a nice relatively private corner. The table was ready for our reservation time. Service was great, and food came out extremely fast! Everyone loved their meals. And the sangria pitcher was another favorite!
A group of us girlfriends see The Slutcracker at the Somerville Theater every year, and we always go out to dinner prior. This year we decided to try out Five Horses Tavern based on reviews and they did not disappoint! All 7 of us had great meals and drinks and service was rather quick for being so busy. We had not one complaint - we will be back!
Our brunch was delicious. The portions were huge and the food was so tasty.
The service is below standard. Check was dropped before we could order another drink and dessert.
Five Horses is a very reliable spot for brunch, drinks, dinner. I wish there were a couple more vegetarian options on the menu and maybe add some rugs or something - it's a little too noisy.
This is my favorite brunch place! The Rise and Shine pizza is my favorite…would love if Turkey sausage and/or bacon was added to the menu! That is my only suggestion for a non red meat option:) The mimosa flights are the best! Everyone is always so friendly here and it is just a fun and enjoyable ambience no matter what time of year. Thank you!
Food is excellent and imaginative. Service is friendly, sincere, and efficient. Always a favorite. And better still knowing this location in Davis could not support success for many years until Five Horses moved in.
The Thanksgiving dinner was very good, the service was poor, needs improvement.
My daughter’s 15th birthday
My hubby and I and our best friend went here for brunch so delicious I had the Belgian waffle with Nutella and strawberry’s so good and my hubby had the southern comfort which had fried chicken and gravy with biscuits delicious as well and our bestie had fried chicken and waffles he said it was very delicious I highly recommend going to five horses for brunch
We had a excellent brunch to celebrate my daughter's birthday. Our server was attentive and super friendly. The vibe was just right for good food, good conversation, and a good time! Will put this spot on our to go list for sure!
I empathize with how difficult it must be to own and operate a restaurant during a pandemic. I also am aware of the fact that Somerville currently has mask mandates in effect.
However it is a little strange to me to have to wear a mask to walk through the door, and then be practically sitting in the laps of the guests at the two tables on either side of us.
Food was okay, service and drinks were good, but next time I will pass on Five Horses to avoid having to try to eat while dodging the hands of the patron sitting at the table next to me.
Busy restaurant but food was great. Salmon was fantastic. Corn bread app a plus. Shrimp taco and mahi tacos were substantial and flavorful.
I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a delicious meal in a nice, but relaxed atmosphere.
The food was very good although the menu was a bit small.
The salmon here was f** amazing really filled me and my partner up, the pretzel was pretty good to deff enough to share between two for an appetizer
Saw a mouse
A good spot for big groups and they have a great spin on classic American food. I like the ambiance and they are never too packed - you can usually get a table no problem.
we enjoyed the food, drinks, service and atmosphere. Will be back!
Great service and great menu - we will be back for sure!
We had a nice dinner before a live performance in Davis Square.
Disappointed because the food was really good but the service was horrible. We went at 4:30pm so it was not busy at all. It took 45 minutes just to order an app. We had about 7 different waiters throughout our whole meal. Not once did any of them ask how our meal was. There was always a few waiters talking to each other in the corner near the bar. For the price I was not expecting such poor service.
Overall experience was great. Brunch menu was very good and drinks as well. Would go back.
Good food, good atmosphere, good drinks. Definitely a worthwhile stop in Davis.
Food here is delicious. Great drink selection as well. Our server was fantastic.
We always have a great time at Five Horses Tavern. The service is good, the staff is friendly, and the food is delicious. Everyone can always find something that they want on their menu.
Food was very good - much better quality and menu selection vs. their south end location.
If you’re a soda or mixed drink drinker their bar soda is gross, beware!
Yesterday was a return visit lunch. By 12PM, the patio was already full, but the sliding windows were fully open inside. We were seated at a nice table overlooking the bar with both games on their TV's. Our entrees were fabulous and will be back soon. Of course, PBR draft beer, too......
Such friendly waiters! Delicious food and an overall relaxing experience.
Staff was excellent and attentive - especially for drinks! Food was OK but not fantastic. Noise level started out moderate and got loud as evening progressed. Very popular place! Kudos to staff.
Great burgers, I love the Octoberfest beer selection sold in 0.5 and 1.0 liters.
My husband and I meet our son(at Tufts) on Sundays for brunch. The food & staff are always consistent. We love it there!
Great location and amazing food! The service was a little slow at times but it was worth it in the end. Can’t wait to go back!
Overall very solid. Starting with the drink menu, great beer and beverage selection. The cornbread was worth the wait - made from scratch, freaking delicious!! We had the chicken tenders, fried chicken salad, Mac and cheese, and 3 tacos (, highlight was the pork belly of the tacos). Adequate space and very comfortable especially with the front windows open. We will be back!
Bachelorette party. Bride-to-be was very happy with food and drinks. Atmosphere is very lively. The server, Mike, was phenomenal. He was very attentive to the table. Various servers, managers, and associates came by and congratulated the BTB. It was a very fun time had by all.
Great food, ambiance and the service was excellent!
Great tavern for meeting with friends to grab brunch, lunch, dinner or a drink. Highly recommend!
THE BEST BURGER OMG. Had the Lime beer wings - ALSO excellent and what a fun idea. But honestly - the burger. It was amazing hot, took half home and it was JUST AS GOOD LEFTOVER COLD. That is the makings of a true amazing burger. Also cooked to a PERFECT medium rare. Loved it.
