Wonderful meal, tasty cocktails, excellent service and because we were celebrating our birthdays, our server brought out a dessert on the house which was a fun surprise! Will definitely go back.
All the food was delicious! Service was generally good. There was a bit too much time elapsed between the appetizer and the meal, but we weren't in a rush so it was all good - not the server's fault, prob just a busy Sat nite kitchen.
Very friendly and well-run restaurant. As a first-time guest, the menu looked great, but the food ended up being a disappointment.
Service was great, and the atmosphere was fun. Unfortunately, the food was just okay - which I was very surprised about! The cornbread was very thin, and for $10 that was disappointing. The fried chicken was juicy and the jalapeño cheddar mashed was good, but the pork belly in the mac and cheese was hard as a rock. My boyfriend got the duck burrito, and everything was overcooked, so we couldn’t even distinguish the duck from the pork belly. Great drink selection though, so would probably come back for drinks with friends and skip the food.
Great place to meet friends or take a date. Super beer selection with lots of great New England style IPAs on tap. Comfort food and healthy options.
The wide variety of beer on tap and bottle gets notice for Five Horses Tavern but the food is the real star. The tavern environment includes sidewalk first-come seating and comfortable inside tables, booths and bar seats. The burgers looked fantastic and comfort food can be defined by the excellence of the mac and cheese. The fried chicken is a heaping serving with jalapeno/cheese mashed potatoes and a generous portion of mac and cheese. This is the best fried chicken I've had in the US including many southern and quality restaurants from corner to corner including Alaska and Hawaii even. It's a matter of preference since there are many great places for fried chicken but this isn't to be missed. Service is remarkably attentive and efficient. I'm going back to try the ribs, burgers and other food - and maybe a few more of their beer varieties! The Five Horses Tavern is a great place to bring your hunger and thirst and leave refreshed in body and spirit. Enjoy!
Food service and atmosphere were great!!! Would highly recommend
Sunday early dinner. All three dishes were surprisingly delicious and, in my case, very healthy. Well done!
It was good but really expensive, would love to see brunch specials on cocktails or a combo deal
Love it here!
Hostess were very kind and held my table when my friend was 30’ late on a Friday night. We eat here about once per month and it’s consistently excellent. Thank you!
Overall experience was great. Had reservation through OpenTable and was seated with no issues. Food was great-had the steak. Cosmos was rightly made. So hard to find the right Cosmo but they nailed it!
Good bar food. Good service with just the right amount of contact with the wait staff, Great location to hang with friends.
Great food, great service, great music, and great vibes! Well done! Highly recommended!
Enjoyed everything except the music was too loud. Had to keep shouting to my friends in order to have a conversation.
It was a good time with my wife.
Great Sunday brunch to celebrate a birthday! Friendly staff. Yummy and unique brunch items. Loved the option for a mimosa flight.
Food was delicious and with so many different offers, there was not a single repeat order with our party of 8 during brunch! I love that they serve Grady’s cold brew, it’s one of the best coffee I’ve had.
Really awesome server and delicious brunch w fun drinks! 10/10 would go again
The Five Horses is a great place to catch up with friends, grab great food and drinks.
I had a delightful time at Five Horses. It was a bit too cold and there were gnats flying around the space because the windows were open. Apart from that, I enjoyed the experience. The food and drinks were reasonable priced and the ambiance was great a casual meal with friends.
Brunch menu is fun and food and beverages are good. Friendly, attentive service. Not too loud. We especially appreciated the staff’s courtesy after we’d departed and someone in our party realized she’d lost her cell phone—we called the restaurant and they kindly looked for it. We’ll return!
Service as always very attentive power bowl salad came with out avocado and when asked got two small pieces ! Which is unusual here ! The vegan burger excellent however no French fries got tater tot which is not the same Cucumber side dish not fresh may be left overs due to 4th of July holiday I still like to give it 4 star because I always like to come here for their fresh hot pita with white beans and their iggys bun , I hope the quality of food is better next time
I wish they had regular martini glass 🍸for straight up drinks I love the spicy margaritas straight up the small glass doesn’t hold much for the price
great brunch and awesome bloodies
I had an excellent time splitting an appetizer and eating an entree. The food was good, the ambiance was nice, and the drinks were great. I would definitely return.
They hosted my husbands big 4.0. Party and everything was perfect 🎉🥳🎂. Thank you ☺️
The Duck Burrito was good as usual. Food and prices were good. Would have received better rating if my reservation was really honored. I came on time for my reservation but was seated 15 minutes later. Defeats the purpose of booking early if we come and the table hasn't been prepared and we'd have to wait for other people to finish eating.
My last few visits, the food has been lacking and the cocktails are just okay. When Five Horses first opened, I remembered the food and drinks were fantastic, but in the last two years, food and drinks have gone downhill. Dinner on Saturday was just "meh" and finally the last straw. I will not be returning.
Fun family experiences
Everything that we ordered was fresh and delicious and the service was top notch. Fun atmosphere and one of the best margheritas I’ve ever had. I highly recommend it!
Solid pub food at a Reasonable price. I wouldn’t cross town to go there but good neighborhood spot.
We reserved a table for five and loved the round table they had ready for us on the upper level, perfect for our daughter’s graduation celebration. Excellent service and fun atmosphere yet low key and fairly quiet noise level
Which we loved.
Pleasant, second time I have eaten there, fun menu options!
Nicely eclectic bar food with some genuine gourmet touches. Everyone liked the brussels sprouts, the St. Louis ribs and the Chinese chicken wings, but the big hit of our table was the street corn pizza. (We added grilled chicken to ours.) There's good breadth and depth in the draft beer selection, with something for everyone. The wine list is modest but solid -- and decently priced. A festive, happy joint that was almost-but-not-quite-too noisy on the Memorial Day evening we were there.
We LOVE Five Horses Tavern! Our daughter moved to Somerville last year and when we come to visit from NY we try and eat there as often as possible. Menu is unique, food is incredible, staff is friendly, and the beverage list is varied and extensive. Kudos and keep up the good work!
Meat was undercooked
The shakshuka is delicious! Lots of interesting things on the menu. The loaded tater tots (special) were a disappointment though.
The service was pretty good but one out of 3 meal was served cold not hot at all. The waitress did not refill our drinks at all. But the food despite being cold was still good. The corn bread appetizer was amazing.
Friendly staff and ambience. Has the feeling of a neighborhood pub with plenty of beer varieties and good grub.
This place is honestly a hit or miss every time. They have some good items on the menu but others are really bad and not worth the money. Overall this place is very overpriced for what you get. A rather sad salad with rock-hard chickpeas and chicken for $18 - absolutely ridiculous. Someone in my party got a chicken sandwich which was also quite bad (stale bread and not too flavorful chicken). The drinks were okay, a few were tasty like the mai tai and some were not strong enough and rather foul tasting like the bourbon cocktail and the spicy margarita. Honestly, there are many better options in Davis Square and I won’t be returning here, at least not for dinner.
