Way too noisy. Impossible to talk to each other. We liked the food a lot, but won’t be back.
Fun for a casual date night. The Ox tail chili was bomb!
This was our first time there. A couple of our older Davis Square favorites had closed, so we did some looking around. Glad we did! The food was really delicious and the place was cozy (nice to be seated near the fireplace on a night like that one). Kind of noisy, but that's to be expected with a lively crowd.
Great service, great food!
Consistently delicious food that is a little funky and original
My first time at Five Horses Tavern, very impressed with the beer selection and the food. They have the comfort food side covered, but they also have some nice healthy options. Liked the breadth of the menu on the drinks and the food side. It is noisy and a bit dark. Nice ambiance, but need to know those things.
Server was awesome, the setting was nice, tater tots are amazing
I ordered the Tavern breakfast, and my eggs were cooked perfectly. I don't normally come here for brunch, but I enjoy it when I do! Came with a couple friends, and discovered one of my guests went to the wrong Five Horses location. The server was extremely friendly, and was accommodating for ordering for our guest. She also was prompt with refilling our coffee, and was extremely apologetic when she informed us about issues with our orders.
Went for mid-Saturday brunch and their food was reliable as always. Seating for a group of five ended up being a chair added to normal 4-seat, high-top table near the front window instead of in the warmer booth and low table area. Most of us kept our coats on to ward off the chill. It'd be nice for OpenTable to distinguish the seating options here, so people could better choose which area they ended up in.
Great meal. Loved the mimosa flight. The vegan burger and tater tots were delicious!
Great meal with friends. Staff were accommodating and friendly. Food was tasty. Will be going back soon
Stopped here for dinner after shopping in Somerville. Great find and great service, very friendly and accommodating to our needs. Brought kids 11 and 12. They loved the chicken cutlets (which they split since plate was enormous : ) They serve tater tots rather than french fries which were the best tater tots that we've all ever had!! Salmon dinner and veggie burger were delicious also...
Look forward to eating there again!
Just so dreadfully bland and lifeless. I’m pretty sure my salmon was deep fried. When I asked if I could have my side alone with out the other accoutrements I was told they were all combined. Um, what? It says “Carrots” as it’s a side dish not like it all
Mixed in with my dish? Is this earth?
Went for new years eve - easy to make a reservation and good food!
Great service and atmosphere, nice beer selection and good food, go.
Great service for a large group on New Year's Eve. Delicious food too!
Five Horses is an all-around good tavern.
I have been here many times and what brings me back is the 'warm' atmosphere. Not a young Davis Square crowd; a little older which is nice. A great beer menu. The food menu needs to be expanded; good choices but not many choices. Pricing is good.
The food was good but our server was so disappointing. It took three times asking just to get a straw. It’s a very loud bar / restaurant so if you’re looking for a chat ... go elsewhere.
Had dinner here with my family for my brother’s birthday. Good menu, liked the atmosphere and we had fun!
I have been here several times and each time was very happy with food and service tonight was the best . This location has better menu than boston location . The Bar definitely has better selections and it’s not beer oriented
Dylan,Chelsea,Ira,Derek and Cailin are as good as it gets. Another great celebration of St Stevens Day in the books!!!
The pizza we ordered tasted frozen and bought from the grocery store.
The pretzel was good.
The white bean hummus was good.
We went here for Christmas dinner and the place was packed, we had a reservation so it didn't take long to be seated. It was myself, my mom, and my 2 children. The waitstaff was very nice and mostly attentive (a couple of small details were overlooked) but nothing major. The food was amazing! Overall it was a great experience and I'd definitely go back!
Prompt service, meals were tasty
Randomly picked a place, near to Malden , to meet our son/girlfriend, glad we did, food was delicious , loved the chicken wings, donut holes were devoured...
Great food & drink options to please everyone. Amazing draft list. Cozy holiday decor. Very friendly service, albeit a bit slow at times. Overall nice night with friends!
My cousin and i were celebrating our Birthdays. We choose to have brunch here and it was it did not disappoint.
A repeat customer to this restaurant - the brunch seems to be that little extra that makes things special and delicious. Waitstaff are always very friendly and the entire experience is enjoyable. I wish that, for brunch, they would cut the music - it really isn't necessary when the place is full, but overall this is a wonderful restaurant with great food.
Nice staff, enjoyable ambiance, the meal was really good. The noise level was bothersome. Maybe adding some acoustic panels on the ceiling would help.
Love this restaurant we come all the time!!
Consistently great food and service!
Awesome all around!! Creative, delicious menu. Service was great.
This is an overall positive review because in my opinion what matters most is the food, and the food is great. I had the Power Bowl and some tomato soup and both were fantastic, the tomato soup especially. If you're looking for a quiet place however, like most restaurants these days, Five Horses is very loud. It was also kind of chilly in the restaurant but our waitress kindly moved us to a table near the fire place. Excellent service and food. Highly recommend if you don't care about volume.
We went with a group of 9 for an office Christmas lunch. The food and staff were great and we love the oval booth. Everyone can see and hear each other. It is becoming our yearly tradition. Thanks.
The waffles were amazing!!
super excellent and deliberate, careful service. this place has great food, but staff is stellar and worth the trip to davis square
Had a great time. Great menu. Nice atmosphere and very friendly and competent service. Excellent food.
Friend out of town
Everything was good only thing I wish I would have ordered the chicken we had the chicken tenders as an app and they were good reheated them a day later and you know what they were even better..
It was great!
