Driven by this place a hundred times. A hundred times to many!! Now will go 3x/mo. BEST STEAKHOUSE IN NEWPORT &CDM! HOT FRESH BREAD, CREAMY BUTTER AND SEA SALT, AMAZING MENU, TOP WINE MENU, LOBSTER, SHRIMP COCKTAIL, FRUTS DE MER, PRIME RIB, ASSORTED FILET AND NY STRIP, AMAZING SIDES LIKE POTATOES AU GRATIN, YORKSHIRE PUDDING POPOVERS, BURRATA AND BEET SALAD, GREAT COCKTAILS, AMAZING AMBIANCE, SIMPLE FAST PARKING, GREAT DATE SPOT. If you have driven by and haven’t gone in, please change that and make sure you go in, it will be worth your time and money beyond expectation. This may be my new favorite go-to restaurant in CDM for a lively, romantic, intimate, welcoming, posh, upscale, and great night out! Gives Mastro’s, Javier’s, and Andrea by Pelican Hill a run for its money. A little less flashy, a little more comforting, and certainly a spot for any birthday, date night, special occasion, business meeting, holiday or family get together. I’m bringing my parents next week. Service is amazing. True to real steakhouse & English traditional fare, of genuine high quality. It has a great menu. Wonderful prime rib options as per Lawry’s custom. I had the English cut which was three thin slices. Served with 2 of three either cream corn, cream spinach, or mashed potatoes and gravy. My fiancé and I split Great wine selections. Also split a lobster tail with my date. He got the King VIII cut which was a thick cut of prime
rib cooked to perfection. Melted In our mouth. I love that I could get a fantastic bottle of Petite Sirah for $44, and with a distinguished palate for wines and having been served by some incredible sommeliers of the world I can say this wine list packs a punch. The prices are great. You can splurge and be a big spender or you can go modest like I did and still enjoy a wonderful option for what I wanted to spend. Also offered large selection of wines by the glass at both 6 oz and 9 oz prices. Menu was delicious. Clean. Vivacious. Rich in ambiance.

We've been meaning to try Five Crowns for a while, as Ex Pat Brits, the venue was awesome, as far as a replica of an English Period house, this place was spot on and felt like we were dining in our old 17th century home back in the UK. The venue, staff and service was awesome. Overall, can't fault the team on the service from the minute we walked in the door. The cocktails we're on point and strong, just like we want. Overall the meal was awesome, my only comment was with regards to my rib eye - way below expectation and a bad choice first and foremost on my side. For the $$$$s though, I'd expected this to be one of the best I'd had. Given that a) we'd already moaned about the vintage wine and cork (of which they replaced ASAP with no hesitation b) was my wife's birthday and just wanted things to go smooth - and you know us Brits, we don't like to moan too much c) I should have gone with the classic fillet with crab. I didn't speak up.

My Son (15yrs) went with the Prime Rib and Loved it, My Wife, went with the Lamb Gnocchi, along with the Rib Eye, I had Potato Gratin, Roasted Sprouts with Dates which were both awesome.

We will however, be back to try the SideBar for sure and absolutely love the look, feel, venue and Service. Overall, not put off, will just make better choices next time rather than go all in on our first meal. Thanks, was a great night overall.

It was our 37th Anniversary and we drove up from Carlsbad. Had gone there years ago at holidays for the Carolers. The food was excellent, as was the service. Had the Prime Rib as always and it is stellar. Their creamed horseradish and creamed spinach are the best. Definitely will go back sooner...it had been too long!

By the way, a nice combo if you are driving a long way like we do, is to visit Roger’s Gardens before dinner. One of the most lovely nurseries we have ever seen.

I haven’t been to Five Crowns in a while. We were seated upstairs. The chairs had cracks in the seat bottoms. The chairs were dirty. Service was lacking. A couple sitting next to us complained about the service and food. At first we thought it was just them. Though, our experience was the same. We are foodies. Love Eddie V’s, 21 Oceanfront, Montage, Selanne’s, etc. This was not worth the expense. Five Crowns needs new store management.

The wife and I over the years have enjoyed Five Crowns dining but the last couple of times it has become clearly apparent that prices are too high for their diminished servings. The Prime Rib served to us at Mothers day was sliced very thin clearly more than in years past where the cut was much thicker. The sides were sparse, seems only bread went unchanged. Price for a bottle of Champagne seemed to require a bank loan was ridiculous over priced so much more than what one would pay at a store so that was uncomfortable to choke down . Bottom line the value wasn't even close to what was served in the past and we will now exercise other options elsewhere. Will miss Tommy though who always makes us smile.

Food was very overpriced for what resembled cafeteria style cuisine. Not good at all. Ambiance is fun, service was decent, I will never go back.

We enjoyed seeing and talking with Tommy again who has been with the Five Crowns for 51 years. Charley was our server and he was excellent. He did everything that he could to get me a Harvey Wallbanger, but they did not Galliano. We always enjoy the Five Crowns.

We have periodically eaten at 5 Crowns for the past fifty years and have always found it to be a wonderful evening of fine food, gracious hosts and staff, and a wonderful overall experience! There are even staff members there who were there the very first time we went there for our anniversary! A jewel in Corona Del Mar!

Excellent Lawrys prime rib and very attentive service. Very pricey. You would think for $46 a plate they could give you a decent slice of meat. Rather small portion for the price.

So disappointing. For a high end restaurant to bring food cold and prime rib over cooked. Then we had to wait for one meal over 20 minutes. Ruined our evening

This was truly a delightful outing. From Michelle at the Side Door bar, whose mixology cannot be beat, to Jacob, Jorge and Carlos who took amazing care of us, my husband and I cannot wait to visit again. The food was perfection itself, my filet was like butter, my husband's lamb chops were magnificent. This was truly worth every penny.
