Food was great, craft cocktails very creative and tasty. Prime rib was excellent. Loved the fact the bar was far enough away that I could hear my dinner partners talk without screaming. Its been 20 years since my last visit, that is changing indeed.
It was our 20th Anniversary was made so special. This classic spot never disappoints! The Prime Rib and grilled Octopus was incredible!!
I love prime rib, I love Lawry's and I love Five Crowns. Crowd is older, probably a lot of regulars, decor reminds me of Summit House in Fullerton. As expected the food and service was great. Also enjoyed drinks at Side Door bar (next door / basically same place) and share the same kitchen.
Paula & Maria were our servers. They were fantastic and the food was delicious ❣️
Would most happily recommend this establishment to everyone❣️
It was pretty expensive and stuffy. Our server was fantastic and everything was top quality. The food was great but most everything had a sauce on top of it. So how you ate it was predetermined. We stretched our budget to go here so maybe this is normal and we just don’t belong. But we were disappointed.
Great place. Great people
The Five Crowns is great because its been family run for 50+ years, and has great history. With the next generation taking over, they have updated the restaurant and kept what made them famous as well as adapting to newer trends. Never give up what made you famous, however you need to introduce new items. This is key to transitional growth.
We brought my husband’s twin brother and his family for a nice dinner out. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. The only thing that I would recommend to the marketing team, is to update their menu prices online. We had looked at the prices online and the actual prices were significantly more on most items.
Friendly and attentive without being intrusive
We have been there before and knew what to expect. The food was good, service was excellent, but they have a plumbing problem. When we walked in it smelled of sewer, which colored to entire evening.
have not been able to get over to your dining room yet. I intend to do so. My food was very bad not just the roast but all of it, I still have it in the box. My friend left your place hungry as I as her food was the same. for your price I am very disappointed
The Five Crowns never disappoints but I don't really care for a "Set-menu" for Easter or anytime. Especially for dinner. I prefer a full menu where I can chose anything. The food and the atmoshere is always worth it though.
Great as always. It was good to see Tommy again. And, we appreciated the effort of everyone to seat us in the Garden Room as we desired. Brought back memories of the Hurley Bell and good Marine Corps friends who are now gone. HR
The Five Crowns was probably nicer before the current generation took over management. It once had to be special to survive for over 50 years! But today nothing is special, except that the table cloths are gone, increasing the noise level to bedlam, the food quality is not as good as we have experienced at Lawry's, and the prices are 50% higher than they should be. So obviously this place is living off their once good reputation.
A great place, we will be back. Everyone needs to experience it.
Grewt wait staff did a wonderful job creating service with attention to detail. They were not overwhelming but were timely with our wants and requests.
Food and new menu options look great. I went with my traditional option but i will have to try their new fare.
Definitely a home run for special dinners and all around great dining experience.
If you love Prime Rib, this Lawry's restaurant is a great place!
It was a delicious dinner however the service was slow and with one younger patron made it a bit more difficult. If you like a very leisurely meal over several hours you are golden.
We celebrated my Birthday with my family. Everything was great. Service was excellent. The food is always great. It’s the most consistent restaurant that I’ve gone to. Highly recommend 5 Crowns or any of the Lawry’s restaurants. T
Best prime rib for miles. Good food, good service. Always leave satisfied.
Absolutely great vibe and atmosphere; Two Bars fully stock; great cocktails; great service; and the Food was the best!
This is only place to have prime rib! The best! Lovely atmosphere and service. Perfect for any special occasion.
Wonderful dinner, a little to loud on the night we went, but I will go back again!
We were celebrating a friend's birthday... everything was great... the food was great and the restaurant is very nice... great for a special occasion.
We all had the prime rib... was delish. The sides were great. I loved the creamed spinach and yorkshire pudding. We split a bottle of wine and it was great with the food.
Five Crowns is a must-visit for me when I am in the area. Although it is a crapshoot as to what size your cut will be, it is still a delicious meal.
One warning: they just added cauliflower soup to the menu. Now, I love cauliflower soup, but this stuff was bad. I mean it was. Very very bad. Out of the six of us, only one person called it edible, but said he would never order it again. Bottom line? STAY CLEAR OF THE CAULIFLOWER SOUP.
Excellent as always. We’ll be back.
The service was wonderful
Very pleasant, excellent service and food
We celebrated our anniversary and had a wonderful time. We were greeted with a glass of champagne on the house, and later a complimentary strawberry short cake which was delicious. The prime rib was juicy and very flavorful. My husband and son particularly enjoyed the oysters as an appetizer. Don't pass up ordering the chocolate soufflé! The service was excellent. It was a memorable evening.
Service was extremely slow and inattentive. I was not impressed with the evening whatsoever.
Incredible ambiance. Like being in an English upscale pub.
received a gift card for xmas - great meal - prime rib was delicious - service was attentive. enjoyed our experience.
As always, great place, wonderful food! What’s not to love. No matter how many times I have been there it never disappoints.
We eat here a few times a year, especially during restaurant week when you get a fabulous 3 course dinner for $50 per person. We shared the cauliflower soup and octopus as a starter, both were great. The main course was our favorite course, we got the california cut prime rib, which took up the whole plate it was so big, but tender and mouthwatering. We tried the mashed potatoes, creamed spinach and creamed corn, which were delicious and just put the meal over the top. I love the Yorkshire pudding that comes with it, which is basically a popover like roll. The dessert was a chocolate sundae and just a perfect finish to the meal. In addition to the great meal we also received top notch and super attentive service. It is so rare to find a restaurant with such great service even down to the hostess who seated us.
I took my niece and her boyfriend to the Five Crown during OC Restaurant Week. The service was spectacular. The waitress was highly attentive. All of our food was well prepared and delicious. My Manhatten was near perfection. We had an exceptional dining experience.
Expected better quality and size of prime rib. When you are spending $45 you expect a minium of a 16 oz cut but only received about 10. Mashed potatoes and cream corn were great. Also, the desert menu was seriously lacking in diversity. There was nothing there that was very exciting.
Lawry’s in Beverly Hills has way better creamed corn and mashed potatoes. The creamed corned was too sweet and of really thick consistency. The mashed potatoes tasted like instant potatoes similar to the Lawry’s at South Coast but expected there since it’s a quick bite restaurant. Lawry’s Beverly Hills also has better servers that are a lot more friendlier and attentive. The prime rib was just as tasty as the Beverly Hills location.
Ambiance and food were great. We had a corner room for our group of six people to celebrate our mom's 91st birthday. Our server is a nice lady but she was not that tentative. The whole experience made us feel like we were in the back of the room, unlike the last time we were there to celebrate our son's birthday. We had to waive down four separate times throughout dinner for services. Not acceptable at fine dining experience.
Five Crowns is a long time favorite spot for my family. It feels like a trip to England without the long plan ride. It's old world ambiance combined with delicious comfort food . The servers are attentive and cordial. My favorite spot is the fireplace room.
