Service was perfect from the time that we were seated by the hostess to the end of our meal. Our server, Gregg was perfectly attentive throughout our entire meal.
The Pride Crowns Salad was delicious. F/C Special cut Prime Rib was chewy and extremely fatty. The Yorkshire Pudding was nearly burnt and didn't taste fresh.
I honestly expected better from a Lawry's Restaurant.

Haven’t been in a few years. Returning last night definitely was not the same experience I’ve had in the past. We were greeted late after being seated, butter lettuce salad was just okay (A’s had a similar salad, but far better), pretzel was good, but the cheese sauce was chunky and curdled, got the 10oz prime rib and it was so thin. Temperature of food was like warm, no au jus on it or offered, so we asked. It was just a very average dinner. My prior experience was far better and felt like a restaurant suitable for a nice dinner date. Not anymore unfortunately.

Started with lobster bisque hot flavorful could maybe use more lobster chunks, great flavored croutons. Meal was large cut prime rib well prepared and good flavor, Au jus and creamed horseradish. Sides, cream corn tasty, mashed potatoes pedestrian not much flavor, creamed spinach good not great and English popover very good if you've never had one traditional with this meal. Other meal prime rib dip very good, with potato chips and Lawry's season salt good but be careful it comes out quick. Mac n cheese nice if you like blue cheese which I'd prefer not. Dessert 1/2 hour prep standard for chocolate lava cake not sweet enough. Overall 4 stars, maybe change the name to four crowns. Mostly Good but not fabulous IMO.

Reserved an indoor table for a birthday party for 9 people. When we got there the table was being prepared but when we were brought to it it ended up being outside. There are heaters so the cold was bearable but there was a significant draft on one side of the table and the food got cold very quickly. I should have asked to be moved inside when I saw the table wasn't where I requested, but I didn't, and I regret it. The ambiance outside is not at all special like the inside rooms. The food was good but not great. I have been going to 5 Crowns since the early 80's and still has a lot of its original charm albeit having some tasteful updates. I hadn't been for almost 15 years and the prices have gone up but not a whole lot. The Henry VIIIth cut is $59 which is pretty reasonable for the size of the piece of prime rib. The kids fish and chips was painfully small though...one small piece of fish and a bowl of fries (we had to ask for tartar sauce as they forgot it). The hazy beer was drawn from the bottom of the tank so the second one looked like unfiltered apple cider. My sister was served the wrong cocktail. The butternut squash was just ok...barely...pretty blah. The salads have shrunk and the presentation isn't spot on...also $18 Hendrick's martinis?... everything is just a little more than it should be and the service is not what it used to be...no chilled fork for your salad...no serving dishes to cover your plate and keep the food warm....less attentive staff and...standardized and modernized server wear....no more knickers! Which were kind of silly but that was one of the things that made 5 Crowns (modeled after Ye Old Bell at Hurley) so special. I hope they decide to up their game and return to their former glory.
Stale rolls, greasy tempura w/too much soy flavoring in batter and too little batter coating, cream corn: too much added sugar, potato gratin: very bland and Yorkshire pudding: misnamed it was a popover!
It wasn’t busy, appeared to be adequate wait staff but our waitress was not very attentive with long periods in between food and drink deliveries.

The manager, Eliza, is fantastic. They are very lucky to have her. Eliza is attentive and as sweet as can be. She did her very best for making things as good as it could have been. We love Lawry’s and Five Crowns but last night was an off night to be sure. The prime rib was plated sloppily and it was more fatty than ever. The service was slow to non-existent. In fact, after the meal was served, it took a little army to get me a knife as mine had been removed with the salad. Of course, we want to go back one day but for now, it’s not high on my list of places to go.

Love this place and the prime rib is the best in town!!! The garden seating area is so nice and warm with the heaters. My wife didn't love the soup, but she's not into English cuisine either, so maybe it's just her. The staff is always amazing and I cannot wait to go back!!!

My family and I came here to celebrate my sister's birthday yesterday. We arrived early, and got seated an hour earlier than our 8:15 pm reservation, no fuss. Had to wait for our second party to arrive, and all the while, our server, Wednesday, made sure we were taken care of with our drinks, and the dinner rolls. She was friendly, attentive, and very quick to observe when we would need something.The price of the fare is what you can expect from this level of venue and service.
Our food was incredible! We all had ordered the Crown Cut and English Cut, and the meat was very tender and juicy. The lobster bisque was creamy and - thank goodness - not very salty. All of us enjoyed our drinks (Glenmorangie 12, Old Fashioned (smoked), Ginger Snap, and St Michelle Indian Wells Merlot). Our dessert was the chocolate soufflé and it was decadent!

Wish I have nothing but great things to say about Five Crowns but my prime rib was just okay. Not tasty nor was I given a good cut even though I ordered their Crown Cut. My portion was tiny. Sides were average and not hot.The service was average. The only thing that made it special was that they had holiday Carolers which warmed my heart. I will be sticking to Lawrys in Beverly Hills and Summit House in Fullerton.
This is an annual dinner, for my wife's birthday. The food was wonderful, and the service was excellent, as always.

What a disappointment. I have enjoyed Five Crowns for over 45 years and will not be back until the restaurant management has addressed it current issues. The server was overewhelmed with too may tables making the evening laborisly slow and frustrating.
The food was poor, crab cakes were dry and salty, the I only reason I ate it was I was famished by the time it arrived. My son's steak was overcooked and had to be sent back.
My past experience with Five Crowns has been well above average and commendable. Major disappointment. I hope this is a Covid related dysfunction and hope this condition will be resolved. I cannot blame the staff as they tried their best given the situation they were thrown into. Management needs to get it's act together before I return.

Celebrating a special birthday after Christmas. The atmosphere was fantastic. The interior was decorated with the holiday theme throughout. Reception staff was top notch, very friendly and professional. Did not have time to enjoy our adult beverages in the "pub" because our reserved table became available thirty minutes earlier. The food was delicious. Our server (Andrew) was friendly and efficient. We enjoyed the "carolers" very much. Overall a beautiful experience. Love to repeat this dining event very soon.

Service was subpar for a high-end restaurant. Had to remind server several times to get drinks, condiments and blankets. We needed blankets because our table was in the “patio”, which was a tent with no heat source. Thus, the food got cold really fast. It rained while we were about finish with dinner and the patio proceed to flood, leaving a pool of water near our table and the staff had to sweep the water away. Upside, the Christmas Carolers were terrific and the restaurant did comp a few desserts. Highly disappointed with our experience.

It was almost perfect until a large family was seated next to us and one family member had a walker that she parked right next to us. I was surprised they allowed that because I was stuck in my seat because we were next to a wall but thankfully we were close to being done. So I had to maneuver the table to slide out. They did offer to move it but I wasn’t trying to make a big deal out of it.
Besides that it really was perfect. It was beautifully Decorated with Christmas lights and decor and they also had carolers.

The best time I have ever had a five crowns in my 40 plus years of attendance. It was not crowded. We had a great table. Service of terrific. The Carolers were fantastic and came twice to our area and sang multiple songs. I loved it!!
The only issue was you changed your truffle and I am not crazy about the new version. BUT we had such a lovely time. Thank you.

Christmas Eve dinner….8:45 reservation.
Welcome and seating were friendly and professional. Nicely located table as requested in a phone call follow up to a previously placed open table reservation.
Service throughout the meal was professional and timely, no delays or excessive waiting as reported by others.
First courses were good, squash soup was a bit bland to my taste. Main plates….duck with cabbage/raisins and prime rib…were nicely plated, flavorful and at the correct temperature. Duck flavor was significantly improved by salt added at the table.
Chose a Zinfandel to complement both mains… good wine albeit too young as are most of the reasonably priced wines on the list.
Carolers visited our table…nice touch especially with the hand-held bells that complemented the voices.
We were among the last to leave… Christmas wishes from the staff upon exiting.
Overall a very enjoyable Christmas Eve dinner.

Five Crowns at the holidays is a truly memorable experience. The meal was delicious and the ambiance was just perfect. The carolers/bell choir was over-the-top great. They really MADE the evening but the whole staff was just lovely and appreciative of our business. I wish five crowns was open Christmas Day because our Christmas lunch was not anywhere near as nice as our Christmas Eve at Five Crowns.

Made a last-minute reservation at five crowns for Christmas Eve dinner. Only tables available were “outside” which was no problem because I knew they had a weatherproof tent and heaters. Unfortunately, the outside tent area was sparsely decorated and it felt like eating dinner in a gymnasium. Bright lights, very few decorations, and feeling like you’re eating at the kids table. This place is surviving on reputation alone. The food was average, I’ve made better prime rib at home. My dining partner had the Seabasd, which was OK, but come on who can’t make a good Seabass? Service was good and the atmosphere in the main restaurant was nice unfortunately the outdoor patio fell way short. Next year will be doing Christmas Eve dinner elsewhere
