Excellent service. The perfect place for a holiday dinner.
It's a wonderful. Very busy. Service slow, food was cold.
The server and hostess where amazing. The parking was easy. The food was good. I would recommend this place. The meat was so tender I wish I ordered more.
Wonderful restaurant. The food and service are amazing
A beautiful holiday evening celebrating with friends. Five crowns ambiance and fabulous meal made the difference.
Never disappoints. The prime rib is the best around and we love their craft drinks
We visited Five Crowns for our annual Holiday dinner with friends on a Thursday night. We’ve been going for years and have had great experiences, unfortunately this year was a poor experience, one that I believe is due to the impact of being short staffed and affected by hiring like all other businesses.
Parking was a mess as their only lot, which is valet, was backed up out onto PCH, they only had 1 or 2 guys working, and cars were stacked 3 deep. We skipped the lot and parked across the street to walk instead.
The overall ambiance at Five Crowns was great as always during the Holidays. Unfortunately the service and food quality were not. Waitress was working her butt off but there just wasn’t enough help for how many tables she had. Water glasses sat empty, took too long trying to order the next round of drinks or food, always had to wait to flag someone down to ask for something, and really put a damper on what should have been a wonderful evening.
Food quality wise, we all go for the Prime Rib. The cuts of meat this time around were subpar. They didn’t come across as Prime quality at all, we’re overly fatty to the point of not enough actual meat, and one serving was actually tough. We never complained or ask for them to take anything back due to the slowness in service so acknowledge that we didn’t give them a chance to fix it which they most likely would have tried.
Cocktails we’re delicious! Took a long time to get but their holiday versions were tasty.
Carolers we’re great as usual but had to wear masks while singing which unfortunately muffled their voices. Not sure the logic behind that but that’s California for ya. Still the best part of the Holiday tradition here.
We’ll still keep going back every year for this tradition, I just hope it’s a better experience next time around.
The restaurant needs some renovating. Looks old, out of date. Needs some deep cleaning and updating. Sometimes got a sour smell.
Reno, our server, as well as the entire staff were friendly, attentive and professional.
Will go back!
Perfect meal and service. Appreciate she understood gluten intolerance. Love the place.
Five Crowns is the place to enjoy prime rib at its best! It is tender, flavorful and well priced.
Last evening veryone enjoyed a delicious cocktail or wine and amazing tempora.
Two of our guests started with the famous Pride of the Crowns salad featuring butter lettuce, bacon , toasted walnuts, gruyere and herbes de Provence dressing. They then had the holiday offering of roast goose with braised red cabbage and apples and raisins which they said was incredibly delicious.
Three of us had the delicious butternut squash soup followed by prime rib, medium rare, creamed corn and spinach or mashed potatoes accompanied by perfect Yorkshire pudding and au jus.
Our out of town guest was presented with a good sized portion of Trifle and we all
shared "CC Brown's Hot Fudge Sundae and coffee.
It was "simply" another spectacular dinner at Five Crowns!
Great staff, incredible service and delicious food. Proper wine selection and stiff cocktails. Can’t go wrong with Five Crowns.
Prime rib 5 🌟. Food delicious from the hot rolls to the soufflé dessert. Service was great.
We celebrated my daughter in law’s birthday and also late Thanksgiving get together. Service was excellent. Our server Jill was the best. Food was perfect. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience.
The prime rib was dry compared to Lawry’s. I wish we would’ve been seated somewhere nicer. The place was empty when we came in, they could’ve sat us somewhere nicer, but they didn’t. Overall everything was just ok.
Restaurant from the same group as Lawry's. If you have a craving for Prime Rib and need it in Orange County, this is the place to go. They have more additional items on the menu. There are several seating options, the Side, Covered Patio (or at least that is what it feels like) and Inside. Request to be seated in the Main Dinning Room, the ambiance is totally different. The service was a little slow, but the waiter was very friendly and the food was as expected: Excellent.
This place is perfect for family dinners and celebrating a special occasion. Our family dined here on my birthday, and we were pleasantly surprised by the overall attention of our server to provide us with the best table service suitable for our family dinner celebration. The food was all superb and delicious. It was an awesome experience for us to have chosen this place to have dinner on my birthday.
Food was good, but the service was horrifically bad and slow. Despite a reservation, the table wasn’t set for 6 so place settings were added after we were seated - only one person received a butter knife. Several minutes passed before we were even greeted…many more minutes before even water showed up. We felt forgotten about several more times. We ended up leaving 30 minutes after finishing our main courses before the preordered dessert showed up. My husband stayed behind to adjust the check because they hadn’t removed the dessert charge. Dessert arrived as he was leaving. It’s always been one of my son’s favorites, but I think it’s gone downhill and we likely won’t be back.
They had a plumbing problem in one of the bathrooms and sat our party of 10 next to the kitchen/dish room entry way. The stench from their plumbing problem present during our dinner. Before being seated I even begged to give us a better table but she refused even though a table our size located nearby was vacant the entire time of our visit. At 4:30 Saturday. Disappointed to say the least.
We sat in the back patio, area and it doesn't have the same ambiance as the other part of the restaurant. The service was excellent. The overall English experience isn't there as in the past. The food was quite good. There was a bad odor as I walked past he ladies room to the reception area to exit. I wanted the experience to be much better, but it just wasn't.
I wanted to like it, but unfortunately I've never been more disappointed. Would never recommend this to anyone.
What a spectacular let down. I have been meaning to dine at this restaurant for years. Finally, for thanksgiving 2021, I made the reservations and had a beautiful date along with me. I couldn’t contain my excitement especially since I had told her about this place. We arrived, were sat right away. The server was a bit late but no issues. Delicious drinks and appetizers. However, things fell apart after for us and a table of a beautiful elderly couple next to us. My date and I ordered steaks. After a long time of no waiter attention and licking the plate off appetizers leftovers, our food arrived. Her steak was a black slab of carbon that the restaurant manager called a hockey puck. Mine, a Luis or Henrey ribeye, technically a med rare …they might as well have brought up the cow for me to bite its buttocks. There was fresh blood pooling in my plate(good thing I am an MD😂). Had to hide it from my date. She doesn’t tolerate the sight of blood as well. We sent both back for redo and mine came back in 45 seconds still hemorrhaging. So, we politely told them that we were leaving….they kindly didn’t charge us for For the entrées but still charged a very hefty sum……In conclusion, unfortunately, it was an extremely poor experience at every level.
My son and I enjoyed a wonderful Thanksgiving dinner at the Five Crowns restaurant this year. The decor and ambience were perfect for this occasion, and the dining experience itself certainly lived up to "advance billing." My only negative would be the length of time between receiving our starter (8:28 P.M.), and then ultimately receiving our main entree (9:12 P.M). With an 8:00 P.M. reservation, we hadn't intended to "close the restaurant down," but we did (leaving at 10:03!)! Again, it was a great meal - a bit drawn out - but worth a visit, just the same ... perhaps not on Thanksgiving or Christmas, though!
Thanksgiving dinner at 7:45pm. Let me say the ONLY thing good was the bar while we waited for our table and the great bartender, Devon(sp?). We were taken upstairs to a really ugly room that was freezing. Our server was patronizing. First courses, salad and a shrimp cocktail were very good. After we told the bus boy we were freezing the server came and closed the drapes. Then and only then they turned the heat on. This room looked tacky and makeshift and the only table decoration was a cheap little vase with a plastic battery operated tea light. Starters came late and our main course came really late. My turkey dinner was fine, certainly nothing special. My husband ordered medium rare prime rib and his was RAW. Server was few and far between. She asked for our dessert order, and guess what? They were out of the coveted pumpkin brûlée tort. But we could have had that special Thanksgiving chocolate sundae. 😱. If you can’t have decent surroundings for the meal, bring good out raw and run out of the main dessert, why serve that late? The food mostly just ok, the room tacky- very tacky. I felt like the redheaded step child. What a sham. We used to really live this place. No More . Oh yeah, we drove over 20 miles.
Took our family to Five Crowns for Thanksgiving dinner. One of the worst meals ever. Tasteless, cold, slow, nightmare! Ruined our family dinner.
Unfortunately, our meal took about an hour to arrive…everyone around us were complaining about the wait..I ordered my prime rib med rare and it was totally rare almost raw….not even warm! Very disappointing Thanksgiving meal…..expensive for what we got….we are locals and not sure we will be back…..sad sad sad…
This was a horrible experience in most every way. Slow slow slow, food was cold, orders incorrect, the best word is it was a cluster in every way. Totally overbooked and unable to keep up with any of the meal, extremely DISSATISFIED and DISAPPOINTED!! Expensive to boot!!
So many reasons we were disappointed. Had reservations at 3:30 for Thanksgiving Dinner with family. Ordered drinks- - OK. Ordered dinner with appetizers which were Good. When we saw other dinners with dinner rolls we asked our server. Finally they arrived. Then the wait began….. after complaining to our waiter and then the manager we finally got our entrees an hour and forty minutes after arrival. My wife’s prime rib was undercooked and very fatty. My daughters turkey was over cooked and dry. The ambiance was lacking. Server tried hard but the kitchen ops were abysmal. To there credit after my complaints the “comped” us for they credited us for the two worst meals. Sorry to report that Five Crowns is not the place it was many years ago.
I hate to only give 3 stars for service, but dinner was at 3 pm on Thanksgiving and we had to wait almost 2 hours for our entrees.
The waitress and busboy were very attentive, but we have never experienced this long of a wait here on Thanksgiving. I believe it is a shortage of food preparers.
We have gone for years. Service and concierge seating excellent and attentive, especially for a holiday. Waiter good. Ordered filet mignonette which was over cooked and crab Neptune and which was inedible. I ordered turkey- portions excellent but meat very dry. Soup was oily- salad good. Chef left weeks ago and it showed. Have asked others who feel the same way. Appears to be a good restaurant in decline.
Thanksgiving Day which was as expected a little slower service than usual but nonetheless excellent, quality food. Enjoyed it!
We’ve celebrated Thanksgiving many years with you. The food was excellent as always. Little things like no dark rolls is disappointing.
Being greeted at the door with a help wanted sign was sadly an indication of what was in store for our meal. Not that the staff wasn’t trying, but the short staff situation was obvious.
Hopefully time will correct that situation. If not, I strongly suggest that reservations only be taken for those who can reasonably be served. The back up of future guests when we left was excessive.
Sincerely. Christine Steiner
Thanksgiving dinner was great, beautiful wine and wonderful turkey with all the trimmings. Pretty table by the fireplace in pub-like ambiance.
Five Crowns never disappoints! Beautiful early dinner and the food was amazing as always!!!
Waitstaff was amazing. Food a little cold, a pet peeve of mine. Portions reasonable.
Food was delicious service was very good. Ambiance was lovely.
Enjoyed dinner. Atmosphere okay. With big group and big light overhead took away from any ambience. Would give a try again. Service was good but not the best that I have experienced in other top rated steakhouses.
