Food is always, consistent and fine here, but they need to improve/expand the wine list. It was hard for us to find a glass, much less a bottle, that appealed to us.
Fitler Dining Room has a short menu, but one that captures what 95% of diners would like (fish, poultry, meat). It stands out in its use of very fresh ingredients and locally sourced food. The dishes are innovative without being tiresomely trendy (and unusual or trendy ingredients just for the sake of being deemed innovative). The waitstaff were way above the usual center city waitstaff. The woman who seated us listened to a request (that the music be lowered a bit as one of the people at the table was over 90) and actually responded to it. (Often waiters/waitresses will smile and then go off and do absolutely nothing.) Our main server was poised, could give us the relevant information succinctly and knew how to be appropriately watchful and attentive without being intrusive or overly friendly (e.g., the type who come over every 10 minutes and say "How are you guys coming along?"). This restaurant is a gem of direct, honest, intelligent and tasteful approach to dining. It really is a dining room.
The food was tasty, the menu was small but interesting. 2 people at my table ordered the half chicken and they both got only a leg and a sliver of breast meat (for $28) so I would say there is very little value here. I would save your money and go to any other Italian restaurant that will charge less and give you a real portion.
Fitler is our favorite Philly restaurant. Lovely place, friendly&attentive staff and food is consistently delicious and expertly prepared. Love the Sunday BYOB option. Chef is awesome, as are the wait-staff .
I rarely take the time to write online reviews but our experience here was heavenly. The menu here is small but absolutely everything was to die for. The staff had excellent suggestions for food and drink and the decor is adorable. We were dining on a fairly tight budget for someplace at this price point, but the server had excellent suggestions and wasn't trying to over-sell.
We dine here frequently and it continues to be a favorite...and gem in Fitler Square. Consistently excellent food incorporating seasonal ingredients, nice wine and cocktail selection and attentive service in a cozy setting.
Overall disappointing due to the quality of the food at brunch. First, I ordered blueberry pancakes. Two thick pancakes arrived dripping with a blueberry "jam" which was not part of the menu description and which I did not want. I tasted the pancake on the bottom which was loaded with so many blueberries (you would think a good thing) that the batter inside was not cooked through even though the exterior was very brown and dry. The waitress graciously took the pancakes and offered a replacement without the "jam". I instead ordered something completely different - bucatini alla carbonara. That dish looked very appealing but was pretty flavorless for $18. The wait staff was very attentive and polite throughout the meal and kept my coffee mug full without having to ask for a refill.
We had an excellent meal here. The service was a bit slow but we were having fun catching up with friends. Food was very good and they were very accommodating about dietary restrictions. Noise level was also good. We were able to talk!
Consistently great food and beverage. Our favorite restaurant!
I have been here many times and it remains our favorite neighborhood spot.
Really pleasantly surprised by this street corner gem! Excellent service from start to finish. Special thanks to Don for his expert descriptions of offerings and his kind demeanor. Price point was affordable (perhaps even a bit low considering the quality and portions!). All told, a great spot. Try the oysters if they're available. The tuna was superb. Dessert was a fun surprise of strawberry compote-filled donuts. The table adjacent was rather loud, but in a jovial manner that didn't disrupt too much. We'll be back!
Food was good. Small menu and even smaller portions. Expensive for the amount of food you are given. It was fine, but I would not rush back.
So good ! Amazing food and drink! We can't wait to return!
Another great meal at another great restaurant from this chef. Always a good time, great service and amazing food. Had a great short rib and my girlfriend had delicious sea bass.
Our second visit to Fitler Dining Room and every bit as good as the first. My wife said her pasta may be the best she's had outside Italy. Don't tell her Mother. Terrific neighborhood restaurant with delicious food and drinks and friendly service.
Always consistently great. Chef Pete is the bomb. Bruce and the service team are always friendly and service is on point.
Nice upscale but casual vibe. Good food. A nice Philly style low key spot. Not byob but the wine is good and reasonable. A "be back"
We had not been there before and were pleasantly surprised. I had tempura soft shelled crabs and my husband had fish and both were great. Nice people, very casual.
Brunch was awesome, both inlet and pancakes were very well prepared.
Was not expecting it to be as good as it was; so many places talk a good line, but... this was really good. Decently sized--which is to say not disgustingly large--portions, and great server. We enjoyed brunch; the oysters were perfect, the baked stuff was very good. My salad was lovely and everyone enjoyed what they ate. It was sunny though we were inside and it was very airy and nice.
Excellent as always. Can't go wrong with anything on the menu.
Second time eating at this special neighborhood restaurant and we will continue to come here for more.
First time and certainly not the last . Honestly don't have one complaint and pleasantly surprised a small restaurant like this also has alcohol.
We had dinner before a show on Saturday evening! The food was fantastic, delicious!
Loved the dining room very cozy!
The service and ambiance at the Fitler Dining Room were great.
This was my second time dining at Fitler Dining Room and the meal was fantastic, the service was delightful and we had a table by the window that let us enjoy the beautiful window boxes. Our waitress made fantastic wine and entree recommendations and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
Client in from LA that like to try new spots. FDR did not disappoint. Amazing brunch! Toad in the hole was excellent flavors.
One of the better meals we have had recently. Excellent start to finish.
This place is consistently good. Great food and friendly service. So happy we live close by!
First timers for Easter Sunday Brunch! We will be back for more!
Always a 5. Great staff. Great service. Great food!
Had Easter brunch with my daughter and everything was great. Small enthusiastic scene. Waitstaff was really nice and attentive. Brunch options were diverse and creative. The oysters were exceptional. Would like to try for dinner sometime.
Loved, loved, loved this neighborhood gem. We live in California and chose this restaurant from Open Table in Philly. Not only was the neighborhood adorable but the restaurant was the best. The food along with the service was excellent. Our only wish would be to have this restaurant where we live!!! Thank you so much for making our Anniversary special.
Great city find!
This was a superb dining experience. We have nothing but praise for this restaurant!
The restaurant is small but bright and comfortable. The noise level is low, which makes conversation easy. The food is really delicious, inventive but comforting. Friendly informed attentive service. All together a wonderful neighborhood restaurant and well worth return visits.
Heard a lot of good things about FDR and we were very impressed
The server lady was highly attentive and very hospitable. The food was unique. I had skate wing, which I had never had before. Delicious!
Nice small space, lovely staff, food good altho it varied somewhat. Salads were best(broccoli had a good but spicy dressing-important to know).Did get noisy but still possible to converse.
