Fishtales Restaurant & Nightclub Ratings and Reviews
We were seated right away. My husband and I each ordered a Caesar salad and split the Zuppa de Pesce, which was delicious! Live music started just as we finished so we lingered awhile. The band was good, playing a wide selection of popular songs and not so loud that we could not have a conversation.
This is a lively Local night spot which we think is a bonus when we are traveling. We try hard to avoid chains.
Our server was good and tried the best she could given the noisy crowd. We sat outside hoping to having a better experience, only to have everyone smoking around us while we ate our dinner. The food was mediocre at best....husband says it was the worst mahi Rueben he had ever had! The pistachio crusted grouper was flavorful l, but the fish was overcooked....the grouper special was so over spiced my daughter (who is a chef in NYC) said they ruined the fish entirely! The crowd on a Friday night was much older (70+) and mostly drinking so not so fun for my college age family...there are too many good restaurants to enjoy in Fort Lauderdale..don't waste your time here 😡😳
Stopped in for dinner here for the first time. A few locals at the bar and outside the front. A couple was playing oldies music for happy hour and they were very good. Service was a little disappointing. Initially very friendly and attentive but once we ordered went downhill. There were very few people there but it took a while for our food to come out. We asked for butter for our bread and it took ten minutes for them to bring it. We were drinking water and it was never checked on or refilled. Seems like the bar and the live music are the focus here. Not sure I would come back here to eat but might come back for the live music and a couple of drinks.
From the first minute I stepped in, everyone was super friendly! I ordered the Grouper and it was amazing. Highly recommend it.
Went in on a Thursday, they had a live band, great ambiance. I ended up going back Saturday night but this time I was outside by the outdoor bar. They had another live-show going on and this time the whole place was packed. Bartenders were very nice both days.
Great to see Albert Castiglia Live Fish Tales is a great place service unique always can see the owner right up front atmosphere is great and my hubby and i been many times before inc on hurricane day half close still was open the bar. On this time waa my hubby birthday got together with his brother and girlfriend. And we ll love like ALbert Castiglia.
The food was good and if that is what is most important to you, then I definitely recommend this place. The service was very slow and yes the place was very crowded, but management should compensate that issue by adding more staff. Because of the crowd it was difficult to have a conversation at your table.
Horrible service from an inebriated waitress. we were nine people,4 did not get their order or it came out totally wrong.Lobster ravioli was inedible and the wine by the glass tasted like rubbing alcohol. All in all cannot recommend this restaurant. I understand it was Xmas day but no excuse for all that is wrong.
If you know Fishtales, you may think of it as a great bar and entertainment venue. However, their food is also great. It is not typical bar food as one might expect. Their pistachio crusted grouper with sweet butter rum sauce and mashed sweet potatoes and grilled asparagus is highly recommended. The price was very reasonable. Can't wait to go back! They have live entertainment every night which is an added plus!
It was a very fun bar even if I was the youngest person in there by 20 years. Apparently the younger crowd comes at ten. But we met great people-great place to make more established business connections and we were impressed with the food. Normally I would not order fish at a bar but I saw it come out for the people next to me and they said it was good so I ordered the pistachio crusted grouper which was excellent and my husband had grouper sandwich also perfect. My guest had the fish tacos which were excellent as well. We will definitely return.
We went on a Wednesday night, there was about 10 of us. The staff is great and very welcoming. Happy hour was until 8pm, we got there at 7pm. We ordered every appetizer on the happy hour menu and the food was great. My favorites were the tuna tartare and the ahi sesame seared tuna. The live band was great. We would definitely go back.
Every time we have driven by Fishtales at night it has been hopping. Not so much when we finally decided to eat there. To be fair, it was the Monday night of the Ohio State/Oregon game, and we did get there and leave before Disco Fever Night started at 9 pm. Still, I am always leery of a restaurant/bar that is empty except for the employees at 7:30 at night. Fishtales might be more of a bar, it has a stage and it does have a long, well stocked bar, than a restaurant, but still, it advertises itself as a fish joint. The menu is so typical of Fort Lauderdale in that there are very few choices of fish available. For a seaside town this place doesn't have much in the way of fish! Maybe Mahi Mahi, maybe tuna (although I don't believe them when they say its local), swordfish, and maybe one other, but even in El Paso where I come from there are more choices! There were 4 in our party. We had a Caprese salad to start he evening. It was ok, but winter tomatoes are always iffy, and these were just fair. It was large enough for the table, but the tomatoes were mushy. Our friend, Carol, had a beach bucket of seafood. It was a small beach bucket I guess. The dish was nicely presented and Carol rated it a meh. Michael had the Chicken Picatta, also nicely presented and well received. He cleaned his plate and gave the dish high marks. My wife's entrée stole the show. She ordered the swordfish, the special that night, served over a seafood risotto. The piece of fish was huge and delicious, cooked perfectly. Everyone at the table tried it and agreed, it was very good. I had fish and chips. I have no imagination when it comes to ordering and I seem to always try this dish. I have had it at numerous restaurants in the area and I would rate Fishtale's version around the bottom of the pack. The fried cod was overdone and had a bit of a burned taste. There was a lot of it, and the chips were ok as was the slaw. Our server was very nice! I'd give the joint a C+.
