FishBones - Orlando, FL Ratings and Reviews
Ah, Fishbones! My go to place for Stone Crabs in season while in Orlando. They're pricey there but worth the treat if you enjoy them. A new all you can eat option as well. For only $10 more than getting a pound you can enjoy as many as you want until someone has to carry you out of the restaurant. Fishbones does a great job with chops and fish as well. Plus, they finally upgraded their sides and serve a much better dinner salad. It's better than before and I will be back!
While we had good service, we thought the food was terrible. The calamari breading was soggy, perhaps because it is mixed with a variety of peppers. I ordered the crabcakes entrée and asparagus as the side. The crabcakes were very mushy and lacked flavor. Some of the asparagus was large and woody while some were actually slimy. My husband ordered the mahi mahi and orzo pasta as the side and he was also very disappointed. I tasted the orzo and it had absolutely no flavor. He felt his fish was overpowered by the blackening seasoning. For the price we paid, this was overall a very disappointing experience. Our friends ordered the deep fried shrimp and they liked it.
Where the food was good the restaurant itself was too noisy, very crowded. We had a reservation so we were seated rather quickly but then It took an hour for us to get our food. The staff was friendly but the server was very scattered. I would not recommend this place for a romantic anniversary dinner.
This place is a great place for dinner but not when its busy. Had an 8:00 reservation and were seated at 8:45. Served water and drinks at 9:30. They way over booked we ordered our food at 9:30 and had to ask for our salads at 9:45 because we were starving. They arrived at 10:00. The discussion with the waiters was they seemed alright with it because of the volume of business. No bread for the table and no bacon for the potatoes blamed on the fact that they served 600 people that evening. I paid full price I expect the same service every time. 4 people for $ 290 with no alcohol is no problem with the quality product they normally serve. 10:15 dinner arrived Two med rare steaks were med. 1 med was med rare the other was perfect. Forgot our truffle butter so just brought a scoop out not melted on the steak no brocollini. I sent my steak back I figured for the price I paid we should get what we ordered. It arrived a half hour later I asked them to wrap it up to go. We had desserts average at best. I felt like we were suppose to understand their issue and they not ours. If I ever go there again and they are that busy I will just walk away. Poorly managed just interested in the big pay day. I left $ 350 because I am not going to stiff the waiter and he did his best. I thought the management should have been more understanding but it clearly was about the number. I will go back another time but If I experience anything like this again I will never return. I don't want excuses with no apologies I was in a wheel chair and very uncomfortable
7:45 reservation through Open Table but restaurant was overwhelmed and overbooked. Bar was packed but eventually got drinks and met another couple to converse with. About an hour later ended up at a bar table with other couple. Servers were very polite and attentive but one order was completely wrong and she had to sit and watch us eat for a long time before her food arrived - no compensation. My crab legs were a very large order and everyone’s food was great. We left around 11:00. Pretty pricey and not sure how it compares but maybe for the area it was fine.
We had a 6:30 reservation and not seated till 6:55. Restaurant called to confirm the reservation. Service was very very slow. Drinks arrived 30 minutes after ordering and the whole meal dragged because of service. Food was good but meal shouldn’t take almost 3 hours
Went to Fish Bones tonight and had a 7:45 reservation booked through open table. Because of traffic in town and a large convention we were told that we would have to wait an additional 30 minutes. 30 minutes turned into 1 hour and 30 minutes. In the interim, we were at the bar and ordered 2 drinks after a 30 minute wait. We were finally seated and ordered a bottle of wine. Wine came and we ordered our meal immediately. Ate our salad as our waiter Cliff came back twice to apologize for the length of time it took to make a pork chop and sea bass. Finished the bottle of wine with no food in sight. Waited 10 minutes more and left $50.00 for the bottle of wine and a small tip for poor Cliff and left. At that point we were 2 hours and 35 minutes in.
I have been to Fish Bones and other restaurants owned by this group at least 20 times or more. Reservation are always a problem. For some reason they are always behind. The hostesses continually hold tables to the detriment of the rest of the" on time" customers.
In short ,myself and the groups I have brought to these restaurants who have spent thousands of dollars over the years will not be back. Hope this this chain can depend a new group of understanding suckers to support it. Shame, really missed the pork chop!!
With a reservation we had to wait one hour for a table for 2, it was so crowded that there was no room at the bar or in the lounge. There wasn't anywhere to stand, the hostess continued to tell us that our table would be ready in a few minutes. There was a large convention at the convention center and I think the restaurant just over booked everyone was upset with the crowd and even with reservations people were waiting long periods. When we did get a table my wife ordered a wine and after waiting 20 minutes was told they had run out of wine glasses so she asked the waitress to put in any type of glass. It took 35 minutes for my wife to get her first glass of wine. My wife also ordered the fried shrimp which was terrible, it wasn't fresh and it looked like the type you buy at the grocery store in the frozen food. Our waitress apologized several times for the waits for a table, drink, and food which was in no way her fault. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.
We had a 7 pm reservation and we were told they were running behind because traffic was bad and previous diners were late. They offered the bar as a place to wait, but the bar was understaffed and we weren't able to get a drink.
At 7:20, I checked with the hostess and they were still running behind. At 7:40 I checked in again. We were finally seated at 8 p.m.
In our area, we could see several empty tables so it indicated they were understaffed for the night. This was further confirmed as our server took a long time to get to our table and also did not return as often as he should.
As for food and drinks, they were also disappointing. The first round of drinks took a very long time to get. The subsequent rounds of drinks all came with at least one error and had to be reordered.
We ordered two prime ribs, one was as ordered and one was overcooked. We also had a filet and it was overcooked as well.
Overall, I would not return nor recommend this restaurant as an hour late with a reservation is unacceptable and then to food/service were bad as well.
Decided to go here based on a business colleagues recommendation.
Our group increased from four to five people on the day of our reservation.
When I called the restaurant the response was, "no we cannot change the number to five people, you will have to move to a high table in the bar."
I decided to leave things as they were and show up with five anyway. When we got to the restaurant there was no hesitation to accommodate our expanded group and we were seated pretty much right away. Even asked to be moved three tables over which also was no problem.
The serving staff were professional and accommodating. Richard even remembered to address our customers by name when they arrived. nice!
food was good. Grouper special was ordered by three of our group.
As the evening got busier Richard was unable to be as attentive but no big issue.
All in all a good evening and would return.
Waiter said he had two years experience and used to work at Denny's, it was obvious, talked too much, slow service, no knowledge of wine. Food ok. They did comp two glasses of wine after 3 bottles (table of 7). Will not repeat. Was embarrassed as my client was upset.
Food was delicious. Decor was very outdated so I admit I was worried at first but- the service from Jordan and the other servers was top notch ! The quality of seafood & steaks were great. Dessert was equally delicious. We were all very pleased & will come back again for the food & service.
The owners & operations team should get with the times and elevate the decor & employee uniforms to match the quality of their food- not something stuck in the 70s or 80’s.
However- the feature of the restaurant with their wood fired grill in the front was neat to see and that was very eye catching!
Apparently a new manager. Our favorite valet and favorite server who was there for years..gone. The food was not up to par compared to our past experiences. Been dining here since 1999 was one our favorites. Quality was lacking. Time to find a new place to dine.
We dine in this restaurant when we visit Orlando on regular occasions. The food and atmosphere is lovely and usually the service is outstanding. This particular evening the service was not as attentive as usual. Server was slow with drinks and a couple of food items were not given. Shame, but it will not put us off visiting again.
Pricey, medium portions, fish with excessive dressing masking flavours, medium service ... We had a very nice dinner few years ago with a mix of grilled fish and seafood .. no more on the menu. Not a terrible experience but I would not recommend it . Not a good quality/cost relationship.
The service was great, no problems there. The drink and food, wish I could say the same. My $14 dirty martini came with pieces of lime floating, un-rinsed shaker maybe? The piece of Chilean Sea bass, although very tasty, it was a very small piece, maybe 4 oz of fish! Smallest $41 dollar piece of fish ever! I have ordered the same fish at Moonfish, the piece of Sea Bass was twice as big. With many options in the area, not sure when I will visit FishBones again.
