FishBones - Lake Mary
The food and service were way beyond our expectations. They made a special dinner extraordinary.
This is our fourth time here, I can honestly say we have always had exceptional food and service.
Don the manager came to our table three times and made sure everything was to our liking, and we had an awesome waiter named Jim who has a great personality.
Thank you for great food and service!
It all started with the fact that it took 35 minutes to get our first drink, steak tasted like it was cooked over charcoal freshly dipped in lighter fluid . The oysters were delivered with a fork straight from the dirty dish pile and shrimp were chewy. The manager came over and removed the steak from our bill however you just can not change bad food..
The artichoke appetizer and scotch selections were the best parts of the meal. The blackened Chilean sea bass was not blackened and hardly worth the $41 price tag. The vegetable we ordered came near the end of the meal. The steak filet was good and the prawn was tasty. The manager was nice about the maladies but that didn’t change the lack of value. The restaurant and ambiance is wonderful. I would have been disappointed at half the price I paid.
Great prime rib on Monday night. We really enjoyed our meal and drinks. The service was excellent and we are glad to have dined there.
I had an 8:00pm reservation for 7 adults on Sunday May 12, 2019 for mother's day.
I got there at 7:55 p.m., I asked the woman at the register if it was alright to sit outside. She said yes, it was self-seating. I said okay, My wife and I went to seat our self's. A few minutes later the rest of our party joined us. After another 10 minutes, a waitress came over and said they closed at 8:00pm. I said I had an 8:00pm reservation. We went back inside, after about another 15 minutes, we were seated.
It seemed as though the entire staff were in a hurry now. The waiter took our orders. My wife ordered the grouper, after about 10 minutes, the waiter came back out, apologized, said they were out of grouper, my wife said that was alright, she then ordered a snapper, grilled. When it arrived, after what it seemed to be a long delay. The fish that my wife was served was very black and burned. She also notified the waiter that she was dairy intolerant, the broccoli was full ofcheese as well as bacon. My wife does not eat meat. I do not eat sea food at all. I ordered the chicken breast, which was under cooked.
As I said, I do not eat seafood. My wife does, we have eaten there a few times, my wife usually compliments how good the food and service is. I don't know what happened this night, but it was not up to the standards you would expect from a restaurant, which is not exactly considered low cost. My wife and I both expected better from Fishbones.
After the salad was served, we were told it would be 45 min for the steaks. Asked for more bread and told they ran out of it. All because it was Mother’s Day. Poor planning on management.
Was supposed to be a special dinner.
If they couldn’t handle the volume, they should have declined guests.
We enjoyed our Mother’s Day celebration! Even though the restaurant was extremely busy, the staff and food were wonderful.
Had a reservation for Sunday mother’s day. Arrive 5 minutes early but it took 25 minutes to get seated. In addition to Mother’s Day we were celebrating my daughters birthday, it was on the reservation however at the end of the meal, there was no acknowledgement of the birthday celebration. Not a thing given to the mothers on mother’s day, not a rose, or a free glass of wine, or a free desert. Service was slow and uninspiring. Waiter poured the wine in all the glasses and did not ask to taste the wine first. Of course, this time the wine was spoiled, and I had to ask for a replacement. What an attitude the waiter gave me! No side dish substitution allowed on the “mother’s day special”. It took 20 minutes for the salads to be served. Waiter never came by to refill bread or water or wine. Never came by after the food was served to ask how the dishes came out. My wife’s steak was over cooked. Overall a bad experience. Last time we ever go here for a special occasion. Will not take any of my clients there for dinner either.
Even tho my experience the other night was not one of the best, i will say our waitress was very sweet and pleasant and the manager was wonderful as well! I would still recommend Fish Bones to anyone and also will return!
This was a comedy of errors. Bar did not know what a Kir Royals was so we cancelled that order. House salads are shameful. I ordered blue cheese dressing and got house dressing with blue cheese crumbles on top.
Had to train waiter on presenting and opening a bottle of wine. It was his first night and he did an admirable job with the poor level of training he received.
We waited almost an hour for entrees which were excellent. I wish I would have known the price of the special I ordered, it was quite a surprise. The broccoli au gratin was clearly burned.
This is the second time we have had a disappointing experience at this location. We will not be back.
I was very excited about trying this place and it was highly recommended. However, I was highly dissapointed. One of the glasses in my wine flight was dirty. My husband's lamb was way overcooked. My prime rib was so salty it was inedible. We waited over two hours for our food. The waiter was apologetic and comped my prime rib, but we still spent over $100 for a mediocre meal. The artichoke appetizer was amazing!
This used to be my favorite restaurant. The service has gotten so bad that I will never go back.
First off we were not seated in the main dinning room even though I had made reservations 2 weeks ahead. The waitress was new, her first day on Mother's Day weekend. We always order the double pork chops because they usually are the best we have ever been served anywhere. Not this night, we arrived at 6:30pm we FINALLY left at 9:30pm. 4 out of 6vpork chops were so tuff we could not cut them, let alone eat them. The waitress was not a happy camper. The managers both apologized and gave us each a gift card for the next time and free desserts. What a horrible experience. We had friends from Napels and we were taking them to one of the area's best restaurants, we thought. It wss a horrendously bad experience. Not our usual enjoy evening at Fish Bones
My wife loved it she called it her new favorite spot. We both enjoyed we haven’t been there in four years. Now we’ll be going more often
We had to move our table due to excessive noise but the manager understood our concern. Waiters were not very attentive. Food excellent
My son took me to Lake Mary for Mother’s Day on a Saturday night. The restaurant was very busy but the service was outstanding. The manager of the restaurant also checked on how our evening was going and how was the food. I had the Black Grouper and my son had the Prime Rib. Both were delicious and lots of food - enough to take some home. Great Carrot Cake too! At the end of the meal, the manager stopped by with two small packaged brownies - nice touch and something we’ll remember. Definitely going back soon!
Excellent visit! Food was spectacular, Server was very nice and helpful. My last visit was not so great, but I must say I’m very happy and pleased I decided to give it another try. Thanks Fishbones!!!!
Been awhile since my wife and myself had dinner there and it is still a wonderful place to go there for a nice dinner.
We LOVE this place and go all of the time. It is perfect for date night or to bring friends & family! I celebrate my birthday here every year and I just can't get enough.
Very very good, made reservations on line, seated promptly, the food was amazing. I'm looking forward to returning soon.
Outstanding service. We had a wonderful evening. Guy was spot on!!
We celebrated our anniversary here last Friday, it’s our go to place for special occasions. The food is good and the service is always great.
No need to travel to the hotel district. Fishbones is close to home and very well worth a visit. We were hungry for steak and opted for the filet mignon. The steaks were prepared exactly as ordered and the flavor left nothing to be desired. The broccoli casserole accompaniment was delicious. Highly recommend the salted carmel cheescake for dessert...to be paired with their TOTT Woodford Reserve bourbon straight up or with the perfect ice cube.
Staff was wonderful and very attentive. Ambiance rating a 3 due to very dated booths with uncomfortable seats. Food was excellent. Asked about doing broccoli plain for a healthy option and they would not accommodate. Atmosphere is nice with many aquariums and the outdoor area is lovely, weather permitting.
Our server was great and very personable. The food was amazing.
Great food and fantastic service. Make sure you ask to be seated in the dinning room for the best service.
Friends visiting from Chicago joined us for a nice sushi lunch. Kind of pricey. Why no lunch menu?
Great food and service... expect to stay awhile though.
I can get better steak and sushi in other places for much more less. I am assuming the cost that I payed is based on service which in reality was excellent.
Wonderful atmosphere, delicious food and perfect for all occasions.
Fishbones used to be our Friday night place. However, several years ago we experienced a odd Valentine's weekend and haven't been back since then. All I remember we were placed in a side room with on a folding table and my knees hit the table legs. My fish was overcooked and scorched black. The lobster cappuccino had no pieces of lobster in it. It was like the restaurant ran out of food and tried to stretch what they had and squeezed as many tables in the restaurant.
This weekend, we returned after 5 years to celebrate my husband's birthday as he requested seafood. Our server, Ryan, was very nice but the food was not what we remembered. The Caesar Salad presentation was odd trying to pretend it was a wedge salad. My entree was the Center Cut Sirloin, Oscar Style. I've never had such a chewy piece of meat which I didn't finish. The menu choices seemed to be lacking from what we remembered having before.
Wonderful food and service for my mother-in-law's birthday. Ryan took great care of us. Food was excellent, timing was perfect. Check-in from manager also appreciated.
Plus: Clint was a great server. Cocktails (once my 2nd Bloody Mary came without the entire glass filled with crushed ice). Beer Batter Fries. Location close to home; we like to patronize local businesses.
Neutral / Just OK: Fried Shrimp. Caesar Salad good but too much dressing.
Minus: Decor is "long in the tooth" and in serious need of updating.
Overall: Good enough to visit again, but as part of a larger restaurant group the place just should be better. Hard to "put your finger on it" but something is missing each time we dine there.
Service was excellent. The martini I ordered before the meal was not dirty, like I asked, and it was incredibly watery--which I don't know how you do with a martini. It was like drinking water. I ordered my steak medium rare but it was served rare. The flavor was good, just not how I ordered it. My wife and I dined there a couple of years ago and everything was amazing, but this experience was not as good. The meal was overpriced for what we received.
The service was awesome had to have them reheat the seabass and potatoe
Main dishes were not worth the cost. Had to send one dish back and when it was reserved we were actually charged twice for it. Upon showing this to waiter he apologized but then the dish was still charged for even though it was served after the other entrees. Used to be an excellent restaurant.
