FishBones - Lake Mary Ratings and Reviews
Our first visit/experience was awesome. Everything was spot on & reservation was about 7pm. Food was great. Staff was attentive.. we were very impressed. Unfortunately, this was not the case for this meal. This was our second visit. Since we came at opening time, it seemed like the staff was not prepared. Very disappointing. Waited over thirty minutes for a 5 pm reservation..would have waited more if we hadn't asked & then was told, "Oh yeah, it is ready."Lukewarm soup. Crushed ice in my glass of milk. (Huh?)Salad with crushed olives was not palatable. Stuffed artichokes had a "heavy hand" on the balsamic vinegar which overwhelmed the dish's flavor.Steak was too seared. Waiter lit the Creme Brûlée with a Bic lighter which killed the ambience. Chocolate cake had unexpected flavor of orange liqueur which was overpowering. Lastly no toilet paper in the ladies room. (This was at opening time so it makes one wonder: Does anyone check & replenish accordingly?)
I have been many times before and the food was always exceptional. This time it was downright atrocious. The King crab legs were fishy and chewy. The artickoke appetizers did not taste wood grilled, but had a hint of lighter fluid. The chocolate cake desert had an orange taste to it; obviously it was infused in the icing. I am sure some people would enjoy it, but they should be told about it. I for one do not want to taste oranges in my chocolate cake.
My wife said she only enjoyed the wine and house salad.
The only thing I enjoyed was our server Shengyu, who was extremely attentive and personable.
We had a wonderful Anniversary Night and the food was wonderful. Miles, one of the Managers, was warm and friendly. Our server Taylor, was new and she was very sweet. Looking forward to celebrating my husband's birthday next month! My birthday just past a couple of months ago.
The food was outstanding. This was my second visit and I'll be back again! The server seemed to be a little frazzled; forgot our appetizer until we reminded him but overall was a very pleasant and accommodating server. We were patient - we were there not for speed, but for the experience.
The food was amazing, for that, I'd love to go back. Our service in the other hand... our server had two tables in our section. It was Father's Day, so both of his tables were families. Every time we asked for something or something was missing from our plates, we had to wait a long time and when he did come back he always went to the other table first. His two tables were the only ones in the section that didn't turn over in the 1.5 hours we were there.
We were seated in the back of the dining room off the patio. Quite loud but it was Father's Day so we expected a crowd. We were initially greeted by a waiter saying he would get us drinks and there would be 3 servers helping to make this a good "experience" Well, it was awful. I asked for lemons for my water which didn't come until I asked a second time. We were not asked if we wanted a second glass of wine until one of us flagged down a server. The rib eye was so awful my husband sent it back. We split my entree because we just wanted to be done with our meal. I found a manager who was very apologetic and gave us a gift card for a return visit but the entire experience was awful. We frequent this restaurant during happy hour and never had an issue. We will NEVER go there for dinner again.
Restaurant was ok! My only concern is with the reservation. It was Fathers Day, and our reservation was not found in the system. I bring my confirmation to the hostess and he did not found it. So, we have to wait for a table. So sad to began our afternoon dinner!! We talked later to the manager and she say that was a problem with open table reservation., not them Fishbones. Well, next time I prefered to call directly to the restaurant by phone. Thanks
I enjoyed the meal there very much. The seating arrangements were very nicely done. I loved the fish tanks, a very peaceful design. The prime rib was excellent as well as the salmon. The only thing I did not appreciate was the views of the parking lot. Otherwise, a delightful
Really bad dining experience. I ordered the Filet Mignon, medium well and Lobster Tail with Cream Potatoes. The steak was very, very tough and dry. It was prepared extra well done. The lobster tail was tough and cooked absolutely too long. The potatoes were OK, but tastes really different from the ones I had during my last visit in April. Overall, I'm just disappointed with the food and the service provided by our waiter.
We love FishBones but felt this last trip was not up to the standards we've come to expect. After being seated at 7:50, it took over 15 minutes to be greeted by our server. We had to bring it to managements attention to receive water and a greeting. More than 40 minutes went by and we had to bring it to managements attention again that we had not received our dinner salads. Service was extremely slow and things became awkward with our server after requesting attention from management. In the end we weren't looking for a free meal nor a discount but were surprised that management didn't offer an apology beyond the the one getting the service moving along. Very disappointed because all three managers were aware of the situation.
This has been one of our favorite restaurants for years. Historically, it's been our go-to place for special occasions. Over the last couple of years, we have noticed a decline in service and quality and this night was no exception. We were celebrating my mother's 79th birthday and we had a 7:30pm reservation for a party of 6. We arrived at 7:20 and were told we'd be seated in a few minutes. We stepped aside to let others check in and began our wait. Twenty minutes later and we were still standing there with no one saying anything to us and my poor Mom standing . So I politely asked if we could expect to be seated soon since we did have a confirmed reservation. The receptionist said we should be seated soon. Let me fast forward to 8:10. Still standing there, still no one even coming over to apologize or explain. The manager came up to the desk and my husband asked why we were still standing there with not a single explanation or apology- and he tells us that there is a party sitting in our seats and he doesn't want to rush them out. Seriously??? You've got to be kidding! It's a big place- shove two tables together and seat a party of 6 with a 79 year old woman for gosh sakes!!! We waited for almost an hour for our "reservation". They never even offered my Mom a seat. We did stay for dinner, and they sent over two appetizers as an apology. Our server, Brian was wonderful so kudos to him. But, the night was basically overshadowed by their careless attitude to their customers. After 9 years of this being our favorite and frequent dining place, we won't be going back. And we cannot recommend to others-especially seniors! There are other places out their with great food and better service.
Our Server was very nice and attentive. The atmosphere was pleasant however we did have a fly buzzing around our table. I was personally disappointed that my lobster was smoked and that was not mentioned. Everyone else at our table enjoyed there meals and desert. Overall I would recommend Fishbone for special occasions.
A semi-quiet table tucked away just around the corner from a more bustling area was the setting for our anniversary dinner. The service was very attentive, yet professional so that we never felt hurried and were never interrupted. The fish entrees we selected were well prepared and beautifully presented, and in fact, delicious! Everyone we came in contact with, from the hostess to our server to the GM, displayed a wonderful customer-centric attitude. This was our second visit to FishBones, and we will definitely be returning soon.
The food was fantastic, the manager won my daughter over with his charm and as a result won me over as well. The only shortfall was the server. He needs some work on his approach, we were not dressed in our Sunday's best due to having just finished an 8 hr drive from a conference in Atlanta. He failed to give us the specials ( a delicious looking trigger fish that I would have ordered had I known about it), we also had to wait for refills, just an overall lack of attentiveness. Considering it was 5pm, and the restaurant was mostly empty I found it disappointing that the service was not up to par with the food and outstanding management customer service. Thank you for letting myself and my kids dine at your establishment.
We had heard a lot about this restaurant and had high expectations. Unfortunately it was not as we had hoped. The atmosphere is great but the service was very slow and we even had to ask for our waiter to even bring the bill! The appetizer - fish dip was great but the encores were just so so. We have had much better food in other restaurants. (the waiter did not keep drinks filled, never asked about dessert, etc.) We were told they were "short staffed" that night... that should not be the customer's problem. You would think if a restaurant was short staffed, the manager would jump in and help; he just seemed to stand back and watch. Needless to say, this will not be a place we choose to return.
My porkchops were very good as was the bread and salad. My husband's chicken was dry and potato needed extra butter.
Concern: paper tablecloth was placed over a dirty table! Beer almost tipped over so was shocked to see left over food under the paper. Manager looked embarrassed but said nothing about it. Lost my appetite as I thought how the kitchen must be filthy too.
