Fish Restaurant & Wine Bar Ratings and Reviews
We met friends here for a party of 4, reserved on open table, and requested a table in the bar area at 6pm. We were seated immediately, ordered some drinks and appetizers. Our table was perfect. There was a jazz band. We all ordered something different-one having even a seafood allergy. All dinners were great. One dessert, crem brûlée. All was perfect!
Our waitress was top notch! She gave us as much time as we needed to have cocktails and poured our wine with dinner. She filled waters and checked on our food likeness, but was never in the way. The food was excellent. Three of us had the cod which was beautifully prepared and presented.
Excellent place if you love Oysters! Who can beat local New England Oysters for a $1 a piece. Great selection wonderful descriptions on the menu for the flavor of the raw oysters. Great low key place. Had the octopus it was amazing. The lobster BLT perfect not too much Mayo. The clam chowder had a wonderful smoky flavor. Overall a favorite of mine ! So grateful to a local friend who told me to give it a try!!
The food is great! The only problem this time I was seated under an air vent and it was FREEZING! I was told the air is at 72 degrees nothing they could do but it did not make my meal very enjoyable. We did come with a few kids but I also felt like the waiter was annoyed with us. Live music and food is great but this time not as pleased as I have been eating here.
Not up to Fish standards. Was very disappointed in both the NYE menu choices and quality. My ‘seafood melange’ had no eye appeal and some of the clams had closed tight shells ( not good) and the two shrimp and 2 small scallops were dry. Everything sat in an unappetizing broth of white beans with pieces of shells mixed in. The half lobster was the size of a large crayfish and I had to finally ask for something with which to crack it’s shell. All the waitress offered was to replace the two closed tight clams with two that were open. The lobster crocket appetizer was good as was the creme brûlée but nothing outstanding. For $65, it left a lot to be desired. My companions didn’t rave about their rib eye steaks with giant fried asparagus either. I definitely wouldn’t advise a return for a fixed price dinner on a holiday. Extremely disappointing!
My family of five made a reservation for New Year’s Eve. After raving about our first visit to Fish late last summer, I was a bit disappointed with my meal this time around.
I had the scallops (ceviche) appetizer which was good but so much I couldn’t eat it. It should have been served with greens on a salad to give texture One of my daughters had a beet and Burrata cheese and she liked it; another daughter ordered the fried goat cheese and said it was OK.
My husband and I ordered the seafood casserole and it was dry and ordinary; mashed potatoes tasted “old” or reheated from the day before. My daughter and grandson had the steak and again it was OK. Another daughter ordered the pork shank and said it was delicious.
Dessert was a berry and apple compote; undercooked. My daughters got the Creme Brûlée and it was delicious.
Will try it again but never again for a pre-set menu.
The food was good. Upset that we were reported as no shows to open table. I got lost on the way but my friends did show up on time and checked in.
The prices were high. Everything is s la carte
We had to ask several times for a fork and a knife.
Waited for cappuccino awhile before being told machine is broken.
The fish is very fresh and that made it worthwhile!
The food here was excellent, and competitively priced. The shrimp cocktail were truly jumbo and delicious - fresh. My companion ordered the swordfish and ate every bite. Be careful of the wait staff though. Our waiter asked me three (3) times to confirm my side order. I had mentioned at the very beginning that we had never been there, but when he asked us for our order, he said, "you've been here before, so no questions, right?" We apparently didn't give the right signal that we were ready to order because after coming over only 1 minute after I was seated and asking for our order, he ignored us for over 15 minutes. He never came over once our food was delivered to ask how things were. And finally, he tried to 'force' a salad on me, saying, "and you'll have a mixed green salad, right?" I had not asked for a salad, nor did I want one. I would definitely go back for the food, but will avoid that waiter. I'm hoping the problem is only him, and not the entire place.
I had to keep changing my reservation by 15 minutes three times because of a delayed flight at the airport and the restaurant was gracious enough to accommodate us. Lovely setting and outstanding meal. Love this place! We especially enjoy sitting by the fireside. They really know how to prepare fish! I always look forward to our visits there!
Jessica and Jason , Have done an outstanding job during their purchase The menu is Locally sourced, Jason hand picks the fish each day at 5am And Jessica cracks the whip thruout She is never too busy to say Hello ,She treats her staff with the respect and dignity they deserve and All of the staff are very proficient at their job . We have had dinner In some great restaurants but this rates at the top of the list It is a local treasure for those in the Know !!!
We always find fish to be reliable and excellent. There are not many restaurants in this area that are as good as fish. The quality of ingredients and menu variety are wonderful. The waitstaff is professional and the ambience is conducive to a relaxing dinner
We were a table of eight. Each dish ordered was exceptional. Clam chowder and fish chowder very good.
Fried Ipswich clams had the lightest batter and were not greasy. Roasted octopus in a paprika sauce was unique.
Cioppino was full of many types of fish in a vibrant sauce.
Worth the visit.
We are regulars at Fish. We went on a Monday night and found the restaurant not up to it's usual standards. The food was okay but not outstanding. I had requested a table with 4 chairs. There were none available. In stead we got a round booth with chairs. It was oKay but a little too big for visiting comfortably with people with hearing difficulties.
The biggest disappointment was the rule about side substitutions. This restaurant has been known for it's substitute friendly policy. Now we were told that it is either "as is" or all new sides. We are not sure if that is a policy change or just a new server interpreting the rules.
Because of our good history with this restaurant, we will consider this experience an aberration and try it again soon.
the evening was very disappointing,
the waiter was very nice, but we waited over an hour for our dinner to be severed.
the haddock and sword fish were both over cooked and dry, the salmon and chowder
were good. However I did request a piece of birthday cake and we did receive that, which was very nice.
Seafood and drinks are superb. I make it a point to visit when in the area.
However, it is not a concert venue. At 7 pm I desire a place where I can converse with my friends and not have to yell over the band until hoarse. Each visit I request the music be turned down with no results.
Sadly this is my last visit as a result.
1st time... we would rate it fair. The cioppino was overpriced and underwhelming. The mussels were very good but the cobbler dessert was mushy and had too much cinnamon. The bar looked promising until the band started and the noise level was very high even at the tables 50 feet away. The overall best grade goes to the pleasant waitress.
We dined on a Saturday night, and there was a live jazz band in the bar area. The food was interesting and well prepared. The tuna tartare was yummy. The new large shrimp dish with Cajun curry, veggies and polenta was delicious. Great ambience, terrific service and tasty food.
Caesar salad was fresh, but the dressing didn't taste much like those I'm used to. I had never had white anchovies before, and I much prefer the others. The swordfish was good, especially the sauce. Three others in my party all enjoyed their food, as well.
Soap dispenser in Men's Room was empty.
