Fish Restaurant + Bar Ratings and Reviews
Dinner was good. Service was poor. Dessert was ordered because of the combination of flavors ice cream and empenada. Strange ice cream flavor was substituted when questioned was told it was all they had. Dessert should have been gratis. During coffee, the waiter left the check on the table, we had not asked for it.
Last time we were there, waitress was scatter brained and couldn’t even produce a decent cappuccino. This time, a male was ill informed.
Try Better guys... you’re losing me.
We went to FISH for a casual surprise birthday. The food was very good. Lots of healthy choices. Service was attentive. The only downside to the meal was that our table was closest to the kitchen and they never closed the swinging kitchen doors so my husband sat facing the kitchen and all the activity throughout the entire meal which took away from our experience. I would recommend not sitting at that table.
I've been to Fish several times, and never had a bad meal. The brussels sprout salad is my favorite app! We sat outside for the first time. The ONLY reason I didn't give 5 start for ambiance is that there were 2 women smoking right next to the seating area. Technically they were in an allowable space, but it was really gross eating while these women smoked 2 cigarettes - one right after the other. Other than that, we had a great meal & great service.
Food was good. Sat near the bar. Noise level was intense, making my dinner conversation impossible. Black biting flies but me all over my hands and feet. Spent the rest of dinner scratching. Flies really need to be arrested, we were inside!
Our waitress was annoying and kept interrupting us. She removed plates we were still eating from. Poured water into my club soda glass twice.
Food is usually good, but this last experience isnt easily forgettable. Sorry.
The format is wonderful. You pick the fish, the sauce and the side and they prepare to order. I had blackened salmon, which was an excellent piece of fish cooked perfectly on a bed of mashed potatoes with a tomato olive tapenade. It was excellent. If you like fish, this is a wonderful place. I believe the name ("restaurant + bar") understates the quality of the food and service. I will return to this restaurant. The beet salad was very good (although too large a portion for one), but the fish is the centerpiece and rightly so.
The restaurant is very good. They have a cool decor and the waitstaff is very attentive. The gnocchi appetizer is amazing! My wife had the Branzino and I had the Tuna. Both dishes were great! They cooked the fish to perfection. Definitely give this place a try!
Very good seafood place. The ingredients were fresh and good quality. I ordered Spanish octopus and jumbo crab cake appetizers and the sea bass main course ( crab cake and sea bass were specially good). While the "Naked Fish" with do-it-your option of preparation style & choice of sauces was interesting and may appeal to many, it would be good if the chef also offered every night a few 'Chef's Choice' seafood main preparations prepared the way the Chef recommends. Wine list is basic but decently priced. I would have appreciated if a 'real French' champagne had been offered by the glass . The waitress and receptionist, both young women, were very efficient and helpful.
Been to Fish many times, and this time we went for a low key family birthday dinner because it's one of our favorite spots in Stamford. They serve such terrific food and provide a fun, contemporary, open air vibe/ambiance! While I've ordered most of the items on the menu, I tend to order many appetizers as my whole meal - some of my favorites are the harvest salad, swordfish lettuce wraps, lobster grilled cheese, calamari and tuna carpaccio flat bread. Really can't go wrong with any order and could not speak more highly of the food! Downsides are that the services is pretty slow and it's a bit loud, but we're usually so happy to be there that we don't notice.
First time dining there. Had swordfish and Brussels sprouts. Food was very good! Attentive waiter, although a bit too attentive. Both of us thought we were being rushed to turn over the table so they could have another seating for the night. Otherwise would recommend and will go again.
This meal was completely inconsistent. I ordered a cocktail, liked it, ordered another one a few minutes later, and was served a completely different drink (and not just the flavor -- even the COLOR was completely different the second time around). My fish was cooked very nicely; my husband's was way over. His side was lovely; mine was blah. And many times I had to crane my neck around looking for our server. (At one point, I just walked up to the bar rather than waiting for her to come by the table.) Anyway -- it was just kind of a weird dinner all around. I definitely don't need to go back.
I keep telling my wife, I really want to go to F.I.S.H. She tells me you have already been there. I say I don't believe her. I took a group of 5 there and the second I walked in the place looked familiar. I looked over the menu and was thrilled to see bronzino, even though it was misspelled because I love a good bronzino. I decided to have it. The longer I sat there the more familiar the place looked. I recognized the table I sat at when it was just my wife and I. I remembered having the bronzino and hating it. I recalled the overall experience as not good. Maybe it was them, maybe it was me, I wasn't sure. Since we were already seated I decided to give it another go but this time with the salmon. Glad I did. Everything was excellent from the fresh shrimp and oyster platter and pork belly lollipop apps to everyone's main course. Our server Jose had an enthusiastic smile and was attentive without being on top of us. The markdown for value comes from the 3 dollar sauce options for the fish. 1.5 oz isn't worth it. Luckily I know the fish stands on its own. A great place, happy to have it back in the rotation.
This was our third time at this restaurant, but this time it was a disappointment.
Calamari was good, although portion seemed small; shrimp cocktail was very rubbery - and it's honestly the first time I was served such poor quality shrimp cocktail ever.
The bread was stale and reheated, my husband's sangria just meh.
Fish and chips was good, my blackened shrimp salad very bland. All in all, would not recommend. The bill came down to $92 before tip, definitely overpriced for the quality of the food we were served!
I visited Fish on 7/1/17 for dinner. I started with a cocktail at the bar, no issues, a pretty good cocktail and then sat down for dinner.
We started with a tuna flatbread which was delicious and my main was scallops with french fries and haricots vert. The main was very good as well.
I ordered a Five Graces Pinot Gris which has always been good. The wine list needs some additional wines.
Overall, I would give Fish Restaurant a Good. Bon appetit!
Great service - wonderful menu- just what I was looking for- NAKED FISH! Fresh and delicious! Can't wait to go back. Even my husband said it was worth the drive! Great job! We don't have one decent fish house in upper Fairfield county 😕So you will absolutely see us again👍
The food was great and our waiter was quite nice, but the service overall was very slow. It took nearly an hour for us to get our food; patrons that came in after us were served before our table. While there were more people there than I expected on a Tuesday evening, not every table was occupied, so I'm not sure what the hold up was in the kitchen. We were trying to make a movie and we had to tell the waiter twice that we were on a time crunch. It wasn't his fault at all, and he did stop by to assure us after our first query about the food that it would be out momentarily. This isn't the first time I've experienced slow service at FISH, but it never mattered previously because I wasn't trying to get somewhere after dinner. I'd definitely go to FISH again, but only if I don't have plans for later in the evening.
