The food was delicious, the service outstanding and he staff went out of their way to make it a memorials evening for our daughters 13th birthday. We were waited on by the restaurant’s captain who was marvelous. He guided us with our selections and was spot on. We love Fish Out if Water and it did not disappoint.
We always try to make it to FOOW when visiting 30A. I personally love the relaxed ambiance and consistent quality of the food. This was our last visit before what was described to us as a 5 month, 3 million dollar renovation. The Watercolor Inn has always been upscale but this sounds like things will be going to a whole new level. Can't wait to try it when completed around May 2018. In the mean time we highly recommend you try the Snapper or Lobster in squid ink pasta
( and a souffle for dessert) so you can make your own before and after comparisons.
We booked in advance an outdoor table for sunset. When we got there we were told they don't hold outside tables. The receptionist had an attitude and was not nice about it either. I said you have my phone number and my email, why didn't you let me know this? Reluctantly, we stayed and sat at a table next to the window and all we saw were the people getting to see the sunset. The food was not up to par (we have been coming here for 25 years) Our waiter was great, but definitely will not put this on my list again. No "I'm sorry," nothing. Just rude rude manager. We know A LOT of Nashville folks that come here and will certainly share our experience.
This was our third dining experience here. The food and service has been constiently good. However, I was a little disappointed with recent experience probably because I ordered the special entree, without asking questions, consisting of four jumbo shrimp, a couple slices of bok Choy on a bed of brown rice all priced at $45. Tasty but over priced. It would have been a good appetizer.
The entire group enjoyed their dinner. We had beef, fish and even one vegan meal (which was wonderfully prepared and presented). Yes, the place is pricey, but it was worth every penny. The service was outstanding. No water glass was ever empty and never did we have to search for a waiter/waitress. We will definitely go back once we are back in the area.
This was a great meal, great service and seated outside to watch the sunset made it all the better. We arrived early for our reservation, and got seated due to openings, which was nice because we sat outside. The flavors of the local fish with sides it was served on were perfect, the ceviche was outstanding, and make sure you order a soufflé...one of the best I've had in a long time...great place for a nice meal, a special occasion, or simply treating yourself!
This was our first time to dine at this restaurant, which was recommended by a friend, and we were caught off guard by the Hostesses' reply when we asked to be seated at a window table. The restaurant wasn't busy when we arrived for our reservation at 6:45 p.m. so we asked if we could please be seated at a window table if possible. The Hostess refused to seat us at a window table because we weren't "Celebrating a special occasion". She said that the window tables were reserved for guests celebrating special occasions and seated us near the center of the dining room. Upon paying our check there were, at least, four empty tables near the window which were vacant the entire time we were at the restaurant. We will not dine at this restaurant again.
Came here for our 1 year anniversary. Service was fantastic. Did not "want" for anything: water, wine, food, etc they were on top of it. We were also surprised with a peach soufflé that was compliments of the chef; which was fantastic!! Definitely will come back on a future vacation
Great restaurant! Went here on a date night for our anniversary and was thoroughly pleased. Very accommodating staff, great atmosphere, no complaints whatsoever. My wife can't have tomatoes and not only did they ask, they offered alternatives and suggested which would go best with the meal.
Very lovely setting, right on the water with great outdoor seating. Nice ambiance, would prefer to not have to walk upstairs thru a hotel. Parking is a bit difficult. Food and drinks were great, although the grouper was a little dry. That could have been because the kitchen was closing soon (9pm???). We felt a little rushed by our server, but I understand the kitchen was closing (9pm???). Drinks were awesome and the cheese plate was great. Again, felt a bit rushed but other than that it was great!
Fish out of Water is one of our favorites when we visit 30A. It is pricey but the food, service and surprises are outstanding. They truly do things that signal a fine dining experience from the ambience, music, treats from the chef, etc. Highly recommend for a fine dining experience on the waterfront.
We save Fish Out of Watet for our last night in the panhandle to celebrate our week of relaxing. It NEVER disappoints! The food is delicious and plentiful. The corn muffins are the very best. (I could eat only muffins for supper and he happy as a clam!). Our server ,Julie, was knowledgeable and attentive. She helped make the evening relaxing! Well done!
