The service and food was excellent! Our server and the chef went out of their way to call a sister restaurant in order to make us the clambake clam chowder bowl. Outstanding!
The variety of fish is local and excellent. My favorite dish is sand dabs. Views are spectacular - ocean and beach.
Amazing view, ambiance, service, and food! Definitely recommend it for people visiting Monterey.
Food was kind of bland and lacked flavor but great view and service
When we got there 10 minutes before our reserved time, the restaurant told me that there was no reservation for us. We ended up waiting for another 30 minutes. They didn't apologize and simply told us that they had no control of OpenTable.
The female manager was so rude we walked out after explaining to the male manager what an awful person she was .. The male manager and waitress was kind and understanding however we will never go back the timing of food and the fact that the dishes were cold put us off and we didn’t get our apps anyway the female manager was disgusting rude and clearly needs another job
Such great service and food! Me and my wife chose to come here for our honeymoon dinner and it was outstanding! Definitely coming back soon! Thank you fish hopper!
Visited Monterey and ate here with family. Quick service and waiter was very attentive. We were seated at a table with a view. Great food and ambiance. We were lucky the weather was nice and sunny yesterday.
Food was great. Seemed to have gotten a new waiter because he didn't read off specials or know that certain drinks could be ordered. Not until I heard another waiter read off the specials did I know what I had wanted but by then I had already ordered something else.
The seafood was fresh and cooked to perfection. And the service was excellent.
Was my husband's birthday, and his parents were visiting us in Monterey for the first time, had to come to Fish Hopper for the view and seafood. They shared the big seafood platter which was a hit. Love that we can get virgin non-alcoholic fruity cocktails here, feels like a vacation with drinks and a view of the waves, otters, seals. Good service, food plated nicely.
Food was good but not excellent. Expected better for the price. Service was good until dessert and getting the check. Both took forever. Also, screaming kids didn't help any.
The food was ok.We had to send back the calamari as it was like eating leather. The service was great and a very well priced wine list. The view was good but they need to work on the food and make sure it is hot.
Great food. Only complaint were the screaming kids in the water below the patio. Beautiful view.
The food, scenic views and atmosphere are amazing. The service in our experience is always very welcoming and attentive.
So thankful for Open Table!! They make it easy to get reservations. We had the best server - Fidel! He was very attentive. The crab cakes and macadamia encrusted fish were soooo good!
Great view, good food
Very disappointed with the experience. Food mediocre at best, stale old nasty smelling shrimp on Bloody Mary glasses. The best thing is the view, which you can get from several other locations nearby. Give this one a miss unless you want overpriced and underwhelming.
We picked this place because we were hoping for some good seafood while visiting the area. It was good. Not over the top fabulous , but good.
Wonderful date with my husband!!
Overall, the food lacked flavor. Which was a shame because the service was prompt and pleasant. My sword fish was over cooked. My wife’s crab stuffed prawn pasta was bland. Even the crab cakes weren’t very flavorful either.
An average meal in an average restaurant unfortunately. It promised more, but the venue felt more like a transit rail station than a cosy restaurant. Food was ok, but delivered with little interest. The one good highlight was the cookie desert. One was enough for five of us!
Fish Hopper is always good! My favorite is the Macadamia Halibut. Delicious! My son had the Rib Eye & stuffed prawns and said it was fabulous. My husband got the fried prawns and loved them. The clam chowder is some of the best in Monterey. And the view is incredible! Great experience all the was around!
The Fish Hopper is right above the bay so if you are on the patio, you will have an amazing view. The food is fresh and very good. We enjoyed the shrimp and chips and a huge lobster tail. Service is above average. Value is average. I recommend it.
Very good selection of fresh fish and wonderful views. The menu could offer more for teenagers who are too old for the kids meal, but looking for something basic.
Came for spring break.
Great spot if you're looking for a great view. Our servers were outstanding. A bit on the expensive side.
Dine right on the water of Monterey Bay, CA. The ceviche was superb, as was the clam chowder.
The restaurant was quite loud, seating very close to other diners and servers consistently squeezing between our tables and bumping into us. The food was good, nothing special, but the view of the ocean is fantastic.
Waiter would not let my 33 year old boyfriend have a beer because he forgot hid ID so it ruined our experience.
Lunch with a great view if that’s what you’re looking for!
Cantilevered out over the Monterrey Bay. Have not had dinner here, just lunch.
Upscale casual and not bad!
We sat in the dining area that extends over the water and you feel like you are in a boat. Service was amazing, food was good but not great. I bit overpriced based on surrounding restaurants.
I looked up the ratings for this place before our reservation, and after eating here I cannot believe it only has 4 stars! The view is breathtaking. The food was amazing! Every single dish in our party was cooked to perfection. Varied fresh and local fish and seafood selection. All of our fish was prepared perfectly, and they use fresh pasta! And you definitely can’t leave without trying their chowder, I can totally see why they say it’s award winning!
Fishhopper had beautiful Monterey Bay views, fresh food, and a lively atmosphere. Our waitress was friendly and helpful. There was an extensive wine and alcohol menu, with delicious hand-crafted cocktails. My husband & I stopped by for lunch, and we're glad we did. We had an overwhelmingly positive experience.
Excellent service, delicious food, great ocean views through out restaurant.
Made my birthday special with a complimentary cake and the waiter sang! We sat on the patio and it was wonderful
Pedestrian food at best and at ridiculously high prices. Influenced by other positive reviews, we tried Fish Hopper but all 3 meals didn't satisfy - not even close. Food was lukewarm to cold, messy looking to the point of unappealing, and in some cases overcooked. Managed to ruin French fries - cold and served on cold cabbage! Too many ingredients on each plate. The clam chowder - supposedly award winning - bore no resemblance to white chowder made in New England. Theirs is sweet (awful), full of diced carrots, and not a clam in taste or sight (except for the ones an otter floating on its back in the harbor was eating in view of our table. Great view but that's all. Never again.
The food and the atmosphere were absolutely perfect for dinner over the sea. Our server Jose was attentive and well versed in the menu. Specials were fabulous.
I ordered the taste of monterey, and the fish was dry, and the sauce quite rich. The waitress was a little abrupt and did not explain the menu. The room was too dark.
