My husband and I love this place. We decided to try the market value items this time. The food was ok. The server was way overcrowded with her section but she still did well. Dessert was delicious. It was way too loud in the restaurant; we were practically shouting to hear one another. Overall a good experience. We will definitely be back.

You're being charged for the ocean view, basically. The food quality is decent but it's expensive! The menu does not have a lot of dishes and many has "MP" (market price) instead of the real price. We had a party of 4 and it costs over $160. With tax, it's nearly $200!

My visit was for my 5th anniversary with my girlfriend and the service was phenomenal! Steven took great care of us and made it a night to remember. The food was fresh and tasty (we had the Surf & Turf as well as the Ultimate Sea Food Pasta). The sourdough rolls were AMAZING and fresh, the creme brulee was to die for. All around a wonderful experience and the view is incredible!

Being a New Englander maybe my hopes were too high. Regarding price, I know that in CA “40 is the new 20”, but still seemed a bit pricey to me. I cannot speak to all the seafood as we only got the Sanddabs, Calimari, and Clam chowder, but I can say the Sanddabs were just ok. The Calimari was above average. However the clam chowder really wasn’t great to me: very thick and very salty.

Overall not s bad meal by any stretch, but pricey for what it and the ambiance was, and the “award winning” clam chowder, I’m sorry, but just did not hold up for me.

I was early to my booking, however, the receptionist gave me an attitude when I asked for window seat which was the reason on my booking there. We then felt ok as we already there, however, then she said she’ll not seat us until all of us there when two of us were parking around! I understand thing could be tough in the restaurant biz, however, I feel giving me an answer with an attitude than a smile & polite way is unacceptable! Will not go back there & will recommend friends do so!

We were looking forward to bacon wrapped scallops on white beans and artichoke ravioli. The last time we order that they were delicious. This time no scallops and the ravioli wasn’t the same. Hopefully things will be back to normal at some point. First visit was delicious.

We have come here for many years - this is the first time we were truly disappointed in the food ;( we have ordered the macadamia crusted halibut before always amazing cut this time the fish was over cooked severely dry abs the sweet potatoes were still raw in the middle. Also ordered the snow crab leg market price was $79 it was so over cooked it was rubbery abs could not eat. Not sure we would go back now. Service was great though - hard working team - too bad the food was such a disappointment.

We usually come to the Fish Hopper for dinner at least once while staying in Monterey— and we visit multiple times a year. I’m not sure if it is due to COVID, but the menu seems much reduced, even since our last visit just a couple of months ago. In years past, there was a lovely combination plate with half a Dungeness crab, scallops and prawns on a bed of rice that we enjoyed very much, but we haven’t seen that in quite some time. Between my husband’s meal (salmon with spinach risotto ) and mine ( sea bass and scallops with butternut squash raviolis), mine was the better dish by far. The risotto was tasteless and definitely under seasoned. I did not taste the salmon, but my husband was not impressed. On the other hand, the sea bass was well prepared, the scallops cooked perfectly and the ravioli was much better than I had hoped for! Moreover, the sauce was DELICIOUS! A little too much bok choy, could have used some carrots for contrast in color, and the peas were lovely.

I would urge diners to look at menus before placing reservations at any restaurant in the area. We were given to understand that there may be difficulties in getting some products into stock and this may affect the menu selections. The dining experiences in Monterey have changed a bit since COVID and if you are looking for a specific dish, you’ll want to make sure you can find it.

We dine there every time we’re in Monterey. I, initially, made lunch reservations but was told that it was not pet friendly. I can’t leave my pet in the truck cause it gets too hot in the noontime. It was cooler in the evening so we made reservations for dinner. Carmel’s restaurants were by in large pet friendly.
Food was good. Drinks were okay - beer selection was better. My husband enjoyed the Alvarado Mai tai IPA. I asked for Don Julio 70th but it wasn’t what I asked for I know my tequila). It was a good dining experience overall.

The first time we came we had great service. The second time the service was poor. Our waiter wouldn’t even check on us. The filet mignon was over cooked for a surf and turf plate that is $100. I spend $350 for poor service and to send back filet mignon and wait another 20 minutes. Not even let me take an item off the bill. Great ambiance poor service. The waiter was terrible.

I have been to fish hopper before once. The difference between this time and last time I didn't have a child with me. I have a one year old daughter now. My self and my wife and daughter arrived to dine and the restaurant on time. When they greeted us they informed us that we could not have our fold up compact stroller in the dinning room and would have to leave it outside. Which is a bother but I can understand they are used to large strollers. As I park my stroller outside I noticed a sign that read if your child becomes unruly please leave the restaurant as it is a bother to other dinners. Okay that is a little much but I can understand it if you where dinning inside. The reaturant had all of the families with children regardless of age out on the deck in 65 degree weather and did not turn on the heaters. The only diners outside where the ones with kids I could not believe it. So even with all of this we still decided to dine. We ordered our food I ordered a Ribeye steak and prawn special and my wife had the maccodanian nut crusted halibut and we ordered a cheese burger for our daughter. My wife's halibut was fine. When it came to my steak and shrimp both where over cooked shrimp like rubber and steak I ordered medium rare typical temperature. My daughter's cheese burger was also over cooked so dry that she choked as she tried to swallow and spit it out. I have never seen my daughter spit out food but she did this time. It is needles to say we will not be back due to the treatment of all of the families and the attitude of the host and quality of the food. It is a shame we had a great time the first time we where at the restaurant. Such a change if you have a family. I would not recommend this place to anyone.

Seafood platter for 2 was delicious! I had my left overs for dinner later that day and the salmon tasted amazing even tho I warmed it up in the microwave. We loved sitting out on the patio and listening to the ocean!

The food was AMAZING!!!! Certainly best clam chowder EVER!!! The salmon and risotto is the bomb! They alao have kids meal which were ok; but what do we expect from a kids meal? My son loved it. Servers were a delight and the ambiance just tied everything together.

The sand dabs were dry, the mashed potatoes cold
We ha three orders of the halibut fish and chips the fish was good but barely got 2small pieces of fish way over priced for $30 and the fries were cold

Picked The Hopper for our 25 th Anniversary dinner. Big Mistake!!! Soo disappointed. Ordered the Prawn plate everything was cold Hubby order New York steak had flavor it was ok,baked potato was rubber. I wasn’t going to say anything but my hubby was upset I was not eating so he said something. They offered to reheat my plate. No Thank You. They took my meal off the bill ok. Still $95.00 check. I don’t mind at all higher prices for good food. I get staffing/COVID we did not mind at all waiting. No sorry nothing from server or management. Upon making our reservation I added it was our 25 th Anniversary.
To top it off Hubby was in the bathroom most of the night and this morning. I feel soo bad for choosing this Restaurant. Save your money go elsewhere. We had lunch at Phils Market in Moss Landing food was excellent.
