Always enjoy Fish Hopper...great view, great food, and great service!
Great view, service, and food! We always eat at Fish Hopper at least once when we come to Kona!
First night on the island beginning a week’s vacation
The poke tacos and clam chowder were the best I’ve ever had anywhere. Absolutely delicious! In fact we went back during our week vacation to get them again.
We also had some monchung which was ok but not much flavor. The chocolate cake however is beyond fabulous! OMG was that good.
Wait staff both nights were excellent. Didn’t hover but checked in frequently. Highly recommend Fish Hopper!
The view was fantastic!
The service here is second to none! We are regulars and Justin is amazing! He takes wonderful care of us and he is one of the reasons we keep coming back every week! The food is excellent too!!!
Consistently creative and fantastic food and friendly service. Our entrees this trip were opakaka with artichoke ravioli(!) and seared ahi with shrimp tempura. Just fabulous and beautifully presented. Great wines and desserts, too. We will always eat at Fishhopper when we are in Kona.
Food was great! Loved the poke nachos!!
Had the Macadamia Nut crusted Maui Mahi and the coconut shrimp and seafood chowder to start. All very good. Signature drinks were a little pricey but same as most everywhere that is waterfront in the area. Our server was efficient and friendly and shared a few laughs with us.
the fish dishes are always cooked to perfection, nice presentations, great deserts
Worst experience I have had in a long time. I asked for a seat for one, agreed to sit at the bar to help them out, and was one of only three people at the bar. Meanwhile, three people behind the bar, basically talking to one another, making drinks for everyone else, and completely ignoring me. One "cue ballheaded" bartender pontificated to the only other to people at the bar that he was the best bartender in Kona, I sat with a menu closed ignored by them all. I stayed there for 20 minutes with no one speaking to me and finally left, telling the manger of the wonderful experience. He had the poor sense to ask me if I was going to eat? The one good thing, I could have left and no one would have cared or noticed. . I did try to pay the manager for the one glass of wine I had to beg for. He was smart enough not to take it,. The place is a Denny's on steroids with a nice location. Go go Huggos or the Kona Inn, where I walked to after this dreadful experience and had a much better one.
Our group of 6 enjoyed a window view for dinner. Service was polite and informed, but there seemed to a longer than usual delay to get our food (minimized by good company), but I didn't time it. It was busy not full. The food (scallop risotto, steak and shrimp skewers, kalbi ribs) was all very tasty, but the kalbi ribs were overcooked and tough.
It was overall another enjoyable outting, and we will be back.
Fishhopper was wonderful! Great view and fresh opakapaka pink snapper! Tender, sweet, anf fresh! Mango keylime pie was fabulous! Will put it on the list of island favorites!
Fabulous pupu’s. Calamari was great with huge serving. Ceiviche was equally superb. Best skirt Steak I’ve ever had with loaded baked potato. Busy so make reservations for table outside.
Great service and very good food. Very pricey though.
Food was amazing! Service was great and atmosphere was perfect! Is a bit hot if you don’t sit by window or close to. Would definitely come back.
The restaurant was recommended by a cousin and he was right. It was definitely a good spot to eat.
THE SERVICE WAS TERRIBLE, Think waitress was new. She did not take our order for a long while, customers who came after us. got their food before we even ordered.
I was disappointed, i asked waitress no special for Easter?
As we walked out after our meal, I seen other customer had a special Easter menu.
The food was just Ok. I got crabcake benedict, hardly any hollandaise sauce on benedict.
but when i got home i got bad stomach pain and had to use bathroom.
think crab not prepared correctly.
The waitress also brought our bill before we were half way done eatting.
we waited long for our food and our bill came so soon....
she never asked if we needed more coffee or tea and made sure we were ok,
we asked for condiments and she took so long too.
Fantastic fish dishes. Poke nachos were divine! Terrific front-row seating on the bay. And Andrea was a a fabulous waitress. Worth a second trip!
We are vacationing in a Hawai’i. Used Open Table to reserve a table overlooking Ali’i Drive & the water. Wonderful service from Holly & delicious food! We will go back! Mahalo for a wonderful evening!
Beef was gristly. Shrimp skewer was overdone. Service seemed to say “I cant be bothered being nice to you because people will come here anyway”.
Always a pleasure to dine here. On this occasion we were hosting a friend for dinner we were seated next to the window for the view. However there was a heavy rain storm causing flooding outside the window which made it difficult to talk due to vehicles passing by. Our server gladly relocated us to the inside where the noise levels were attenuated allowing us to enjoy both the food and our company. Great flexibility when ordering from the menu allowed us to select exactly what we wanted. We have visited here many times when on vacation in Hawaii and will always take guests here when we return.
We enjoyed delicious dinners, specialty cocktails and amazing dessert! Great place to eat in Kona! Ask for a table by the window as the interior tables get warm.
Good food. Only thing was the bread was hard. Maybe the parking sign could be larger
When it comes to fresh, well prepared, delicious food served with style, efficiently and with a warm neighborly smile this place nails it! My wife and I go to lunch in Kona twice per week and this is our go to stop. We keep saying to ourselves, we need to try something different, and yet we keep going back. And they have easy parking behind the restaurant with an easy rear entrance. And by the way, the view is amazing.
Great location and wonderful fresh fish options
I had the divers scallops risotto
Wonderful meal with friends.
Food was fine, service fine. However, two glasses of wine—one Chardonnay, one rose, both familiar to the person ordering—were clearly watered. No nose, little color, hardly any taste.
Would not choose this restaurant again.
Meal was average at best much better meals along the Drive. Had the trio and portions were okay
Calamari good, but large pieces. Not panko fried which made it better. Seafood pasta and blackened swordfish were terrific.
We always swing by Fish Hopper for dinner during our stay in Kona. We are never disappointed on menu options , quality of food and of course we look forward to being greeted/shaka by Joel.
Mahalo, Renee and gang
Excellent menu choices, poor wait service. The food was top notch wait service was poor waiter seemed like he didn't want to be there. Poor people skills. But the food was great
Always enjoy returning to Fish Hoper. Fresh, delicious food and an awesome view of the ocean! Excellent service!
Loved the food, loved the drinks, felt the staff really took care of us!
We were early for our reservation. The staff were very accommodating to eat us early. The service was very good on a very busy night. The food was excellent! My husband and I enjoyed one of the fresh fish specials which was delicious!
Nice people and atmosphere, good food, would come back.
We had a exellent dinner with fish menu! Friendly service personel and good food!
Nice winelist and super deserts!
Das Essen war mittelmäßig! Cocktail nicht gut! Ambiente sehr touristisch!
The place was cute, right on the water. The drinks were ok. The monchong with risotto and scallops were good but the quantity was poor for the price. The service was terrible! Our waiter barely came around and they brought us the wrong cocktail order, forgot to bring my husband’s salad and never offered us dessert at the end. He just brought us the check. He had to correct items that were wrung up.
