I did not find the food to be that great. The people were very friendly. When i spend over $100 on a meal, I expect to be blown away. That was not the case. Not even the 2nd best steak I have had on this vacation.... dissappointed.

We usually make this our standard pit stop when visiting the Big Island. Looks as if Thursday evening is something to watch out for as our server was both slow and hand to be reminded to on more than one occasion to server our table in a timely manner.

Perfect view of bay & people strolling by. Food is fresh & tasty. Perfect, not overly large portions. Plenty of menu options. Highly recommend. Definitely use Open Table for reservations as it's always crowded.

Our favorite and most delicious meal while on the big island. Fish was cooked to perfection, the risotto was melt in your mouth good and the poke was so fresh! Cannot wait for our next time back.

We weren’t super hungry so we split the salad, subbing goat cheese for the mozzarella (mo betta). And we split the fish trio; mahi-mahi, apakapaka and naragi (sp?). Delicious; the fish were prepared 3 different ways. We loved it; going back for breakfast (crab eggs benedict!). The service was good, the table was right in front (make reservations) and the manager came by to make certain we were pleased, and we were.

We had Macadamian Crusted Mahi Mahi and Shrimp Trio. Both entrees tasted delicious. Service was excellent. The restaurant is at the waterfront and has covered open window seating.

Our service was impeccable and friendly. The food was amazing. Suggestions from the waiter we're fantastic. LOVED how clearly marked the gluten free options were. We had a coupon for a free appetizer from our hotel. Calamari was the option with the coupon, but I couldn't eat it due to the breading. I was given a delicious fresh fruit plate instead with perfectly ripe mangoes and papaya.

The dining was excellent. The staff was attentive. The atmosphere was beautiful. The price was a bit too much for what you received. Overall I would recommend it for an over the top celebration but not for an anytime meal.

After making reservations online an in advance for our anniversary, was disappointed we could not get a seat at the window. When we asked we were told the reservation before us has that table. I guess next time I need to request a specific table.

The food at this restaurant is always very good, but the reservation itself did not go well at all.
We had made a reservation through Open Table asking for a table with a view if possible. There are many of these such tables and the restaurant was not full by any means. We were offered a table in the back unless we wanted to wait 20 minutes. The manager pointed out a table with a view that would be opening up soon, promised that it would be ours, and suggested we wait in the bar. We had our eyes on the table, watched the table being prepared, and then to our surprise, a couple who had just arrived at the restaurant were promptly taken there to be seated. Needless to say it was very awkward. I approached the table and explained the situation. To the couple being seated I had appeared from nowhere and they were not happy. I got disapproving looks from everyone. Not a great way to begin a nice dinner. In the end, we got the table and the manager sent us a complimentary appetizer, but by then I had indigestion and needed a drink.
Our waiter was very nice and the food did not disappoint, but the whole experience was stressful.

Great find after a long day of beaches and snorkeling. Local fish options and great presentation. Everything tasted fantastic. Portions are a little small so try an appetizer.

We love Fish Hopper. I could have (sarcastically) given 3.5 stars for ambiance as it was hot and humid (ha, ha).
I did give a 4 for Value, because I'm cheap!! Sorry it's very compatible to other good restaurants.

Even though we made a point to share that we went to celebrate our 33td Anniversary no one even said anything to us. I even stated it when we ordered a bottle of champagne but no reaction. You would think dropping 3 C's someone would at least say Happy Anniversary

I came her a year ago and I recall it was just OK. This visit we had a great meal. The fish and stakes were cooked perfectly and were seasoned just right. It was a really solid meal and I will be back on my next visit to Kona. The drinks were great and prepared properly. Nothing was left on our plate! The view of the harbor / Kona bay is really special and while you can't catch the sunset the food more than made up for it.

This was our last meal in Kona and one of the best all week. We had a complimentary appetizer of calamari which was tender and delicious. We both got one of the specials for dinner. I chose the risotto with scallops and my husband got the fish trio. Both were excellent. We also enjoyed happy hour at the bar several times during our week in Kona.

This has become our favorite restaurant in Kona. Our reservation was for 6:30, but we arrived 45 minutes early and they immediately seated us at a waterfront table with a beautiful view of the bay. The food was AMAZING, with fresh local caught fish served with Hawaiian fresh fruit relish and salsas and delicious sautéed vegetables. We had the Hawaiian Ono, Yellowfin Ahi Tuna, and the Hawaiian Fresh Fish Trio (with Ono, Opah and Ahi). Our server was attentive, making sure our cocktails kept coming and regularly refilling water glasses. We never felt rushed - the service was top-notch without feeling stuffy. The atmosphere is Hawaiian-casual but the excellent food and incredible view of the bay can easily accommodate a special occasion dining experience. We came back for dinner two nights later and we had the same attentive and gracious service with a different server. We've dined at many outstanding restaurants on Maui, Oahu and Kauai and the Fish Hopper ranks right up there, too. To get the best views of the water, reservations are highly recommended.

Our daughter's Dungeness crab salad was enormous for an appetizer, delicious and extraordinarily well-priced. The macadamia encrusted ono was delicious as well. Great ambiance, food, prices and service. A real keeper."

The view of the water right across the street is great. Call ahead or book a reservation on line to get a front row table. The service on the Big Island was always above-average and this place was no exception, they really made us feel like VIPs. Food was fresh and tasty. We had the Poke award winning appetizer. A little too much sauce for me, but my husband loved it. I love raw fish so much that I had the very copious mango sashimi salad with shrimp and again super fresh (which is so important with raw fish) and tasty. As tourists, this restaurant was exactly what we were looking for, offering view, nice ambiance, safety, good quality and well presented food and great service.

This was a nice place for a tasty dinner with a beautiful view. The food was very good and creatively plated. My cocktail was delicious.
The restaurant was a little warm on a humid night. We were near the big windows, but there were no overhead fans near the windows. Other than that, highly recommended place.
