WE used the Open Table site to reserve. In the past we have gotten a great seat at the water doing this and so it was again! Fun to watch the action in the harbor while dining. The food here is fantastic and the service is great. It was our 35th wedding anniversary and once our server learn this she brought us a complimentary dessert! We'll be back soon!

Wonderful time on the coast at sunset. Staff and management were great fun, fish was first rate. Pricey, but that's the big island.

A very warm & welcoming surprise (From the host (Guy), our waitress (Kim) and the ‘hands on’ general mgr who were all just fantastic!)
The food was outstanding. Poke Nachos to start had great flavor and a nice kick. The monchong was cooked perfectly. We’d recommend the Fish Hopper and will definitely visit again.

We were greeted by the nicest man who was joking with us and made us feel very welcome. The food was outstanding! Big plates, so no need to get appetizers. Best meal we’ve had on the island so far. Would definitely come back!

Accommodating and helpful, good food, great location. Went here with some friends for a late dinner. Was relaxed yet timely. Food was local and good. Fish and chips excellent. Skirt steak was surprisingly good. Clam over linguine was supposed to have mussels. Didn't have them and a little bland. Have previously been here for breakfast and was wonderful.

Food was not very good. Ordered a fried fish sandwich that was dripping from oil! And very skimpy on portions.

We went to Fish Hopper for lunch after returning to Kona after 2 years and its still really good. Always so impressed with the servers......very nice and give you lots of attention. My Mahi Mahi was very good coated with Mac nuts and a very good sauce plus tasty sides. My husband had the Seafood platter with a delicious purple sweet potato. Wherever you sit you can look out at the ocean. Highly recommend for lunch or dinner!

It says the best seafood restaurant in the area and it is true!!!
We ate there twice during our recent stay in Kona and absolutely loved all seafood we ordered.
Mahi Mahi in the macadamia nuts was better than Mahi Mahi in Parmesan crust, the crust was slightly oversalted for my taste. Crab meat tower was fantastic.

We were on vacation and found this restaurant. We had the best waitress. She noticed that my daughter was reluctant to try fish and chips. She brought her out a small bite to try! It gave her the opportunity to try it without committing to it as her meal. She brought out an amazing virgin cocktail for her in a huge pineapple. My daughter was thrilled! She also did a wonderful job taking care of me and my gluten-free needs. We had the best time here and would definitely go back. I highly recommend this! The food was delicious!

My wife is lactose intolerant and eats gluten-free, which can be a challenge in many restaurants. Often she feels left out or less than comfortable.

The fish hopper not only served us a delicious dinner, they knocked themselves out making her feel special. They held a table right on the rail looking out toward the bay (thanks to open table), and even selected Heather, a waitress with food allergies, to take care of us.

The food was great and Heather and the staff made my wife feel comfortable with her selection. We will gladly return every chance we get.

I did not find the food to be that great. The people were very friendly. When i spend over $100 on a meal, I expect to be blown away. That was not the case. Not even the 2nd best steak I have had on this vacation.... dissappointed.

We usually make this our standard pit stop when visiting the Big Island. Looks as if Thursday evening is something to watch out for as our server was both slow and hand to be reminded to on more than one occasion to server our table in a timely manner.

We weren’t super hungry so we split the salad, subbing goat cheese for the mozzarella (mo betta). And we split the fish trio; mahi-mahi, apakapaka and naragi (sp?). Delicious; the fish were prepared 3 different ways. We loved it; going back for breakfast (crab eggs benedict!). The service was good, the table was right in front (make reservations) and the manager came by to make certain we were pleased, and we were.

Our service was impeccable and friendly. The food was amazing. Suggestions from the waiter we're fantastic. LOVED how clearly marked the gluten free options were. We had a coupon for a free appetizer from our hotel. Calamari was the option with the coupon, but I couldn't eat it due to the breading. I was given a delicious fresh fruit plate instead with perfectly ripe mangoes and papaya.

After making reservations online an in advance for our anniversary, was disappointed we could not get a seat at the window. When we asked we were told the reservation before us has that table. I guess next time I need to request a specific table.

The food at this restaurant is always very good, but the reservation itself did not go well at all.
We had made a reservation through Open Table asking for a table with a view if possible. There are many of these such tables and the restaurant was not full by any means. We were offered a table in the back unless we wanted to wait 20 minutes. The manager pointed out a table with a view that would be opening up soon, promised that it would be ours, and suggested we wait in the bar. We had our eyes on the table, watched the table being prepared, and then to our surprise, a couple who had just arrived at the restaurant were promptly taken there to be seated. Needless to say it was very awkward. I approached the table and explained the situation. To the couple being seated I had appeared from nowhere and they were not happy. I got disapproving looks from everyone. Not a great way to begin a nice dinner. In the end, we got the table and the manager sent us a complimentary appetizer, but by then I had indigestion and needed a drink.
Our waiter was very nice and the food did not disappoint, but the whole experience was stressful.
