Always enjoy returning to Fish Hoper. Fresh, delicious food and an awesome view of the ocean! Excellent service!
Loved the food, loved the drinks, felt the staff really took care of us!
We were early for our reservation. The staff were very accommodating to eat us early. The service was very good on a very busy night. The food was excellent! My husband and I enjoyed one of the fresh fish specials which was delicious!
Nice people and atmosphere, good food, would come back.
We had a exellent dinner with fish menu! Friendly service personel and good food!
Nice winelist and super deserts!
Das Essen war mittelmäßig! Cocktail nicht gut! Ambiente sehr touristisch!
The place was cute, right on the water. The drinks were ok. The monchong with risotto and scallops were good but the quantity was poor for the price. The service was terrible! Our waiter barely came around and they brought us the wrong cocktail order, forgot to bring my husband’s salad and never offered us dessert at the end. He just brought us the check. He had to correct items that were wrung up.
Picked this restaurant for our daughter’s 19th birthday. Food was phenomenal, as well as their award winning mai-tai. Will definitely be going back the next time we are on the island!
This was our 3rd trip to the fish hopper and we will be stopping by one more time before we leave the island!!
Incredible experience. Used Open Table for the reservation (like a call ahead service with only 45 minutes advance notice) and were seated by the open window which allowed us to see, hear and feel the ocean. The food was excellent. The service was great. Excellent spot.
Great wait staff and the food was flavorful. We were greeted by so many friendly employees. Very knowledgeable waitress who had a great happy vibe. Wonderful view and food!
Everyone was so nice. Service was great! Food delicious. Especially loved the coconut shrimp and crabcake appetizer. Vegetables cooked just right. The only thing I didn’t care for was the whip type cream on the mai tai which I scooped up. Would definitely come back!
Nice for a casual dinner on the seaside. Very good fish dihes! Friendly staff. Good winemenu!
Vacation dinners lots of walk ups. Had to remind them we had a reservation. After that thy sat us very quickly. Service was great, as was the food.
Our service was very good. A little slow on cocktails but overall the waitress did a very nice job. Our food was ok. One of the Mahi meals that we got wasn’t near done enough. The ribs were ok. We weren’t crazy about our food. Nice location and ambiance.
We loved Fish Hopper!!
Great fresh fish!
We're in kona for a month and went to Fish Hopper several times!
The restaurant is on the other side of the street from the ocean. It sits higher than the sidewalk. We were still able to enjoy the view of the water and people traffic. We ate fish, I can't remember what kind, but both were fresh and perfectly cooked, moist not dry and not undercooked. The macadamia nut chocolate cake for dessert was very good!!
Steak over cooked was redone and then good. Fish fish great but could not eat together. Had a delicious free desert from the Manager for problem. Parking a really big problem for this location. Outside seating was less noisy.
The food at Fish Hopper is very imaginative. I am not a fan of fish, but we went to this restaurant twice in the week we were in Kona, and I had a fantastic mahi mahi twice, each time done a different way. It was great. Also, the macadamia pie is not to be missed.
We were in a rush for a flight and the food came out very quickly...thank you!
Food was good as well as the ambiance. The service needs work . It seems training is in order. We had no silverware and i had to get up to ask. No one noticed after our meals were delivered.
A very good restaurant in town with great harbor views, and the fish is very fresh! Mahi Mahi is moist, cooked just right. Service is very friendly and accommodating. Perfect place for the sunset drinks and dinner!
Service and ambience was great! Lobster was a little chewy , food overall was good, but the oysters on the half shell were fantastic, i rate the experience 8
The location and server were great. The food was just ok. What you would expect for a touristy place on the water. They advertise happy hour every day 3:30 to 7 but don’t be fooled, it’s just in the bar not in the restaurant.
Very poor experience.
There was absolutely no fish in their poke and we had to send it back to the kitchen... The service was mediocre and the food definitely not worth the price.
Food was Ok (noting unusual ) and very pricy for that quality and quantity of food ( I am from Seattle and I know about seafood meals and prices). But service was very bad (very slow, inattentive), like "Eat and go away". And no even excuse for all those things. I think I will not go to this restaurant again.
Great location. Well prepared dishes.
At the last minute, late afternoon on Friday, we went to Trip Advisor to find a moderately priced place for seafood for dinner. I was particularly looking for shrimp and crab. The crab tower appetizer didn’t disappoint. I’ve never had an appetizer so full of crab that was more than enough for 2 people to share. It was delicious. My entree, the Alii Skewers had tender chunks of beef that were very flavorful. The rice, mango relish, sauce and sautéed local veggies accompanied the meal excellently. The grilled shrimp too, I just wish they gave you more than 3 shrimp on the skewer because I love shrimp. I don’t usually have dessert because after I’ve had a great meal, I tell myself your stomach is satisfied; don’t do it or don’t add more calories. But, this time I went beyond my usual self- moderation and had a slice of the chocolate cake with passion fruit. First, to my surprise, it was gigantic slice. My husband and I had more than enough to share. Second, it was fantastic! I don’t like desserts that are overly sweet, but this was just right. I’m wondering if the addition of the passion fruit had something to do with somewhat ramping down the sweetness? But, I would definitely order that dessert again.
We were celebrating my husband’s 75th birthday. The service was impeccable and the food was amazing!! We highly recommend! They treated us like we were royalty. A friend recommended this place and it did not disappoint. We all had the Ono fish which was perfectly cooked. The only thing which is quite minor, was the extremely slippery floors due to all the rain. It was like an ice skating rink. The drinks and desserts were fabulous too! We can’t wait to go back!
I went to the Hopper for Valentine's day with a couple friends; I always in my life have NOT gone out on this holiday due to the crowds and probably should have listened to my heart on this as the experience was less than the usual Hopper experience. First: they were running behind (I had made a reservation weeks in advance), even though I requested a view table I was told I could not have one and was given the WORST table in the restaurant - high traffic right outside the kitchen; I ordered the special dinner for two - oddly there was only one serving of veg and potato but everything else was very tasty. I LOVE this restaurant and will always return, but never again on the special occasion days.
Excellent as always. Fish Hopper is my favorite!!!!
Wonderful romantic evening!!! Valentine's day could not have been better thanks to Fish Hopper Manager Joel and Vicki. Thanks to all for making this such a great night on the town!
Our Valentine’s dinner at Fish Hopper was a bit of a disappointment to say the least.
I had requested a table with a view of the ocean (I made the reservation and request over a week in advance) and we were seated in the third row of tables with a couple with wide brimmed hats obstructing what view we had.
I had a free appetizer voucher which they wouldn’t accept because of Valentine’s.
The food was mediocre, underwhelming and over priced!
We will never return!
Highly recommend the Alii Skewers (2 skewers of steak bites & 1 skewer of grilled shrimp) from their regular menu. But if the jumbo scallops are available as a special, they are a must try. The view of Kailua Bay (across the street) if fantastic, but the noise from the street can make I hard for conversations. If you can, try seating a little further back or in one of the booths. Friendly wait staff. Recimended as a leisurely meal, not for a quick bite.
Great restaurant. Always large portions. Always excellent fresh food.
One of our favorite places to eat. Never disappointed. Get reservations and ask for a table at the rail near the street. Great views.
Neither my husband or I thought our food was very good. I had fish and chips and it was just ok and my husband had scallops with risotto....hohum.. we ordered a piece of coconut pineapple cake that had no taste at all.
Best thing about our meal was the server...she did a very nice job.
Would not recommend this place.
