The food was very good. But small portions for the price.

Very good food at a reasonable price. Server Mele was very friendly and attentive. Nice waterfront location, too!

Best meal I had during my week in Kailua-Kona. It was mahi-mahi with a macadamia and mango sauce and purple mashed sweet potatoes.

I made a reservation weeks ago in order to request a table by the window away from the bar. When we arrived, they had not reserved any of the 6-7 tables that would have fit my request, and they were unapologetic and slightly rude about it. We had really like this place in the past, coming here for at least two dinners each of our past several trips to Kona. This time, they had jacked the prices astronomically and cut the quality of the food by a significant amount. I paid $12 for a super low budget Mai Tai (tasted like canned OJ and very cheap spirits). I also ordered the $18 crab meat appetizer. It was far from expectations for $18—lots of avocado and unripe mango and less than 1/4 cup of crab meat. It used to come with a good aioli sauce, but now they squirt cheapo teriyaki sauce on it. My daughter’s chicken entree have plain steamed broccoli on the side. I don’t think I’ve seen that since the early 80’s., certainly not on an entree that is over $25. If they had offered to comp me a drink or dessert for blowing off my reservation, I might have given them the benefit of the doubt and another chance in the future. There are a lot of good restaurants in Kona now, so go elsewhere unless you want poor to mediocre food and service at elite prices.

Because we had such great food during our stay in Kona, this restaurant disappointed. The drinks were good and the location was nice, but the food was nothing spectacular.....not bad,
but not great.

Great location on Kona Bay. Seafood is always Fresh and superbly prepared. Lots of gluten-free options (including a yummy chocolate-macadamia nut cake) for my husband who has Celiac disease.

We visit Kona on a yearly trip, and the Fish Hopper is a MUST visit (At least once)! Tim is our favorite server, and remembers us from year to year!

Great food! I had one of the specials - Parmesan Crusted Mahi-mahi. It was amazing! Deserts were so big neither of us finished them (which is unusual for me).

We went to the Fish Hopper for New Year’s Eve and were delighted with the meal and the service. We went back a couple of nights later hoping for the same experience and were sadly disappointed. Lauren, our server, was a total space cadet. We ordered an appetizer and a couple of drinks that took forever to arrive at our table. As we ate the appetizer, we wondered if Lauren would ever return to take our order. Finally, I decided to track her down and told her we wanted to order our meal. After another interminable wait, our meals arrived. My medium well done Land and Sea Burger was over done and tough as shoe leather. My plate looked half empty and it was. The fries were missing and the prawns on a skewer were nowhere to been seen. When I ordered a second glass of wine it was about 2 1/2 oz. The barman was too lazy to open a new bottle to pour a proper glass. The server reduced the bill by $5.00 !!! and gave us a card for a free appetizer for our next visit. We left no tip and won’t ever go back. This was at 5:45 pm when the restaurant was 1/2 to 2/3 full.

We loved this place! The service was great and the food was amazing. We needed gluten free options due to god allergies and they took excellent care of us. Do yourself a favor and get the pork ribs!

We make sure to visit Fish Hopper every time we’re in Kona. We ate here right after we arrived, and already have our next reservation for before we head home. The monchong with risotto is SO good!

We go to Fish Hopper Everytime company leaves as a pre-flight dinner. Been going for 8 years. It never disappoints. The food is great and always fresh. Poke nachos are to die for!

Just became one of my favorite restaurants ever. Clam chowder is to die for. All five of our meals were excellent, as was desert. Booked a second visit for later this week so we can try more on the menu before we have to fly home.

Food was okay, scallops were ok and the risotto was undercooked, would not go back again, but does have a nice view if you are lucky enough to sit at an ocean view table. The service was good even though it was busy!

Had a reservation for 8:00 and they sat walkinss prior making us wait 25 min. My food was not hot and was under seasoned. Coconut shrimp came out overly fried. Had a specific food allergy on order and meal came with said allergen. Waiter offered to change but it had taken so longer to get our table, my guest was starving and picked it off. The other two guests enjoyed their meals. Disappointing as we have had great meals here before.

As usual, dining at Fish Hopper was great on Christmas Eve! Despite the number of people dining there, the service and food was excellent. Joel and his staff make this a wonderful restaurant and the view of the Pacific Ocean can’t be beat.

Nothing special. It’s is a nice setting, but the service was spotty and the ahi was so bad it could not be eaten. The manager did charge us for that part of the order, but still is was disappointing. There are better places in the area.

This was the best eating out experience we had on this vacation. After adjusting our mainland wallet to the high cost of food in the islands, I would say the value, quality, and service were all there! Mahalo :)

Saw the restaurant on TripAdvisor...curbside appearance is very touristy, so that was a put off...but honestly, the food was great, and the drinks strong...not to be missed!

WE used the Open Table site to reserve. In the past we have gotten a great seat at the water doing this and so it was again! Fun to watch the action in the harbor while dining. The food here is fantastic and the service is great. It was our 35th wedding anniversary and once our server learn this she brought us a complimentary dessert! We'll be back soon!

A very warm & welcoming surprise (From the host (Guy), our waitress (Kim) and the ‘hands on’ general mgr who were all just fantastic!)
The food was outstanding. Poke Nachos to start had great flavor and a nice kick. The monchong was cooked perfectly. We’d recommend the Fish Hopper and will definitely visit again.
