Thanksgiving fish🤙🏼🍁lovely & Delishes😘
Our first dinner in Kona (booked a couple months in advance) and rather disappointing…. The service was good but our meals were not. The entrees we ordered were out in less than 5 minutes, leading us to believe they were prepared in advance. Once tasted, pretty sure that was the case. It was Thanksgiving so I get that it’s busy and lots of food done in advance, but we ordered three kinds of fish and none of them were very good. Won’t be returning….
Despite being extremely busy on Thanksgiving night, the service and food were fantastic! Thanks!
Amazing service. Food quality was good. The poke tacos, moscow mule, passion fruit cheese cake, and burger is delicious. The ladies and bus boys are sweethearts. Next time I come to The Island, I shall return.
Great food great views. Thanksgiving lunch was great. Ribeye fantastic:
Celebrating a birthday with family
We were sat down right away after checking in with a reservation. Service was quick, attentive, and friendly. However, the food itself we felt was a bit overpriced and nothing special. My husband and I ordered crab cakes as an appetizer. Although tasty, they were quite small (two crab cakes only for nearly $19). We also ordered two Mai Tais which were decent. And for entrees, we ordered the Parmesan Crusted Mahi Mahi and the Ahi Tuna. Again, they were OK. The vegetables tasted like the ones you get out of a frozen bag. We finished everything because we were so hungry. For the price we paid, we weren’t blown away; everything was just average. But the ocean views, staff, and overall ambiance were nice.
Hard pass. The menu with the pictures of drinks should have been the tip off to the food quality, which was basically the Hawaiian equivalent to Chili’s. You could tell the “chef” was trying- the fish was decent and the sauces ok - but the vegetables had obviously come from a frozen bag. Sprinkling micro greens on top did nothing to mask the quality, and the prices were insult to injury. Go somewhere else.
We had a great dinner experience, party of four. Everyone enjoyed their menu selection, 3 fish and one filet(meat). The meal presentation was created beautifully. Our server Andrea was very helpful in explaining the specials and didn’t rush us at any time during our visit. I highly recommend the Fish Hopper if your looking for a great experience in both dining and ambience.
Overall it was a good experience. The service was prompt and pleasant. However the food was poorly seasoned. The fish was dry and over cooked. The mashed potatoes were dense and dry. The highlight was the clam chowder. I was expecting a much more elevated culinary experience that would match the high prices. Beautiful view and great service. However the food fell short for everyone in our dining party.
Excellent food. Service was OK. We were on our honeymoon and noted this in the reservation but it seemed like our server wasn’t told.
Highly recommend the Macadmia-Crusted Mahi Mahi with Okinawan sweet potatoes.
Also highly recommend the desserts: Kona coffee cheesecake, strawberry-passion fruit cake, chocolate Mac pie, Macadamia German chocolate cake, mango key lime cheesecake, and others. Save room!
The portions looked very small but we were pleasantly surprised how full we were. The atmosphere, service and quality were top notch. Save room for that chocolate macadamia nut pie !
Called to request a table closest to the window for the best view of the ocean around sunset. Sarah, our server made good menu suggestions due to my wife's shellfish allergies. We loved the mango key lime cheesecake. Tasted like sherbet ice cream but in a graham cracker piecrust. Not local style portions of food.
We love this place and come here every year for breakfast. Food is fantastic, bloody Mary’s are perfect. It is worth the stop, and as an added bonus, there is private parking for customers only in the rear.
Stopped in for breakfast with a party of 5. Everyone enjoyed their meals and I especially enjoyed the fresh fish Benedict. The view was lovely, but what really impressed me was the service! It’s unusual to find wait staff that knows to serve from the right and allow you time to relax and enjoy your meal.
The food was incredible but the server was just not okay. She really enjoyed chatting with the table next to us but didn’t take the time of day to even say more than 2 words to us. She mixed up our drinks, forgot to put one in and was just overall not a good server. The food was amazing though which sort of made up for it.
Last night on the Big Island and wish we had tried this restaurant previously. Lovely views and great service! We started with a nice ceviche. The monchong and risotto was great. My husband enjoyed the kalua pork and cabbage. Very well done. We shared a macadamia nut pie with chocolate fondant. Excellent. We had to stroll for a bit afterwards. We will be back next visit.
Always a delicious meal! our favorite restaurant in Kona
Never disappointed. Ate here 3 times in one week! Excellent wait staff and even better food. Fish and chips were the best I’ve ever had. MaiTais were perfect.
We arrived with no where to park and attendant guided us to a parking place. We were welcomed as we arrived with very friendly, courteous staff. The food was exceptional and a gluten-free menu was a plus for my wife who has celiacs.
The food was a bit pricey. We made reservations and our table was ready when we arrived. The waterfront view was beautiful. We would come here again.
This is one of the best restaurants in Kona. Consistently great food. The atmosphere is wonderful. I eat here often and the food is extremely good every time
Best dining experience in Kona. So good we went back the next night!
Excellent choice for an evening meal or great lunch. Best service in the area.
We are visiting here and it was my sister in law’s birthday!
What a special evening the Fish Hopper made it!
Feel like authentic Hawaiian in all ways. The food, service ad view are all excellent.
Excellent, excellent and even more excellent! And don’t forget to get their freshly made desserts!
Good service, nice view. Happy hour was great.
We were very disappointed with our meals. The poke was just ok and I’d been really looking forward to our meal! The Ono fish was really good but everything else on the plate was not good.
The view was spectacular! If I go again, I’ll just have drinks and try the appetizers.
Our server was wonderful and the food was solid.
Great service and good food. We appreciate the precautions in place. A regular favorite place for us to dine.
Service was quick and amazing!
Food was delicious! Views of the ocean are awesome and the staff was friendly and accommodating.
Good food, good service = good time
Food was very good. Be sure to ask for a window table.
Great food and service. Their ribs are my favorite! Like the view and open air dining.
Very nice dinner. Ate their twice while we were in Kona for a week.
Always good here have eaten here many times over the years. (Great)
Was to celebrate having our honeymoon finally! No mention
Of it though even after booking by saying it. Oh well…. We had fun.
Fresh fish and salad were excellent. Cheesecake was disappointing, generous serving but not worth the calories. Had hoped for a better view but friendly place.
