We had a reservation for 9:30pm at this restaurant. We showed up a few minutes before 9:30 and we were told we couldn’t sit down because they were closing. I told Him we had a reservation and he just shook his head at me and said sorry. Why would you accept reservations after closing? Extremely disappointed since we took an Uber, and paid for that Uber to get us there. Never going back.

The fish dishes we had, both ono and mahi mahi were very good, but that’s about it. The drinks were weak, the restaurant noisy and our server was efficient but not particularly friendly. It’s a mediocre experience and there are definitely better places in Kona.

This is a magnificent restaurant for every day dining and the most special of occasions. Service is attentive and friendly and the food always fresh and delicious. Save room for house made deserts.

Best French toast of my whole life! Everything at our table of six was enjoyed. Crab omelette and Benedict had more crab than expected and it was delicious. Parking around back was convenient too.

We always go to the Fish Hopper for special occasions, as we know the food there is excellent, as well as a beautiful view of Kailua Bay. On our 33rd wedding anniversary we had amazing food (Monchong & Risotto and Mahi Mahi & Shrimp) as well as amazing service! Thank you!

Pleasantly surprised. We didn’t expect it to be as good as it is because the Fish Hopper is on the bay and smack dab in the middle of the tourist area. We have eaten here 4 times in the last 6 months. We have never been disappointed. We have been a party of 2 all the way to a party of 9 and the service and food has always been excellent. We highly recommend the Fish Hopper when in downtown Kailua.

By local standards very good meal, ample serving, well cooked Server very good, friendly, prompt, capable Value was good we enjoyed this meal more than the dinner at the famous Roy’s at. Waikaloa Reservations recommended highly. Bar serves a good drink. To quench thirst, a cold frosted 18 oz. Schooner of kona brewery beer hit the spot

We arrived early and they were able to seat us fairly quickly, despite being short handed. Our waitress was great and helpful, giving us advice and suggestions. My dinner was delicious as well as the others in our group. We will definitely go back on our next trip to the big island

The food was fine. The atmosphere is nice. The bartender, hostess and waiter were very good. The manger was a bit snipey when we asked about our table 15 min after our reservation had passed with 3 dirty empty tables that had been like that for a while where we were waiting to be sat.

The place and servers are very nice and friendly. The food is not that good. We ordered the seafood pasta and the mahi mahi does not have a taste. The mashed potato has some weird sour taste in it. The clam chowder is typical.

This was our last meal before we headed back to the mainland. While ambiance was great, food was disappointing. Had the fish and chips…only 3 small pieces of fish and fries were salty. Also had grilled fish w risotto. Risotto not fully cooked. While they remade the risotto, it still had too much crunch/chew for my taste. I would go back only for the view along the water.

We came inside to our cozy back row booth after 1pm. Our party was late so we ate without them. By then the breakfast crowd and most of the lunchers were leaving. Lunch was fresh! The grilled Ono sandwich was picante with a light crunchy batter! My Kona Burger was a perfect medium wellness, bun was toasted but still soft, tasty slaw and a few french fries! Mostly we will spend our money here when seeking a comfort station~because they take care of you(and your littles). At least this was the case for Mothers' Day! Our servers were courteous, quick, and helpful. Offered our 3 little terriers paper cups of water on the steps on the exit stairs. Truly sweet. Sunday's manager was kind and a fan of our pups, so we got to sneak them in for an hour while we ate desserts and second adult beverages.

We dined for Mother’s Day. Our server was very pleasant and helpful. He was able to make recommendations and help us order something that we would like. Crab Benedict was great; they have a fabulous hollandaise sauce and the pancake special was a hit with my son. The vanilla lattes were just okay.

Right on the main road, great people watching from the open window seats. Fantastic service, excellent cocktails. My wife’s fish and chips ( Mahi Mahi) was a perfect portion and not too much batter. I had Ono and it was in the top 3 fish meals of my life. Medium Rare, slice ( not as a over cooked filet cut) great presentation. Just an overall phenomenal meal. Can’t wait to go back…..

We had a reservation and were given a great table by the outdoor window. Then we didn’t see anyone from wait staff for 25 minutes and only then because I went to ask the host. The server slightly apologized but was not pleasant. The food was good and served quickly. Service was inconsistent during the meal. Server comes to table at end of the meal and instead of asking if we would be interested in dessert, which we were said well is that all you need. Mystified. I said sure. Just bring the check. We had really high expectations prior to arrival. Maybe it was just isolated experience but we don’t plan to go back.

My wife and I had the local fish, the Monchong dish, and we throughly enjoyed it. The staff was friendly and courteous and the atmosphere was great as we look out from our window table and enjoyed the ocean view.
