Fish Bones American Grill Ratings and Reviews
We had a great lunch with friends. The food everyone ordered was delicious, as well as the cocktails. Our wait person was very pleasant and kind. We never felt rushed. We enjoy meeting here whenever possible. We travel from various towns. We are looking forward to our next time here.
We enjoyed our meals, but we both thought that every item should have been "Kicked up a notch". The scallops were perfectly cooked but the sauce was barely warm. The dish needed a side of spinach or similar. The very cool Ahi tuna came with an abundance of hot onions and peppers which seemed more suited for a steak. The listed burrata was regular mozzarella (I was informed). This was our first dinner. Good portions for the price. We will go back.
we visit regularly and are never disappointed in the food. service was a bit off this time- our meal was rushed and the main course delivered before we had time to finish our salad. waitress was not at all engaged when speaking with us- asked questions and left the table before we answered, only to return a bit later and reask. hope this was a one time glitch.
Where do I begin? .....
This was a special night for me, it was New Years Eve and I planned to propose to my childhood sweetheart. I rented a limo for this night and surprised her at our apartment door.
Fish Bones offers the "Open Table Reservation" and I loved it...made all my arrangements on-line. Very convenient. When we arrived we were greeted pleasantly with smiles and was told that our table was on desert menu and it would not be long before we were seated. The bar had seating enough but also had pub style tables with comfortable couches and plush chairs to sit and drink while you wait. The décor is pleasant and relaxing, the restrooms were impeccably clean and spacious. However it was in the men's room that I discovered my white scarf had shed like a sheep dog all over my black dress shirt! After futile attempts with tissue, paper towels and water (which only made it worse) I decided I was going to have to propose to this beautiful gal looking like a 6 foot Afghan Hound. Walking back to the bar I made one last ditch effort and asked the bartender if there was anyone that had a lint brush. She smiled at my shirt and promptly handed over a brand new shiny lint brush, just like that. Shaken but not stirred I sat down and within minutes our table was ready.
My Gal ordered Sesame Ahi Tuna, I ordered Fishbones version of Surf and Turf, they call it Land and Sea, a succulent sirloin with scallops and shrimp dish served with smashed potato. Our appetizers were Mixed greens with Goat cheese and roasted beets for her, and I had the Ahi Tuna Poke. The appetizer's were wonderful and our entrees were served promptly without a delay despite the New Years Eve hustle. My sirloin was cooked to perfection and melted in my mouth the scallops and shrimp were to die for. My gal's Sesame Ahi Tuna was the best she said she ever had. The Dinning experience was top shelf..the staff from the host to the bartender to our waitress was fantastic....and oh she said YES!
This was my first visit,i was very pleased with the cleanliness of the resturant, the staff were great,we never had to wait for anything, the quality of the food exceeded my exspectations.I would recommend your Resturant to my family and friends.Thank you for a wonderful experience.
We were a table of two set in a small room next to a table of 8 that was very, very loud. The noise reverberated off the walls. The server was un-attentive and in-dfifferent. One of us ordered a steak that came out colder than room temperature. There were a couple of items we ordered that we did not eat and she never inquired if there was a problem with the food. Overall, we paid 3x times the price we normally spend in a restaurant and the food was no where near worth the price.
Filet was orderd med rare served well....second attempt was raw .....had to send back .....usually you guys are top notch with the food.....not today....was taken off bill wich was great but I didn't get to eat.....and everyone else did.....apps where great could have been hotter though......this is my favorite restaurant and I was trying to impress people with my favorite resturant.....for $260......everything needs to perfect. ........
We've been to Fishbones many times and it's always a pleasant experience. A slight dip in the service level this time. I'm thinking our server was perhaps new or overworked. She was very nice, though clearly she was managing a few too many tables (short-staffed perhaps?). Anyway, at one point she poured a beer at our table only to have it completely overflow the glass. She said "oops!" then sat the beer glass and the bottle down on the table in a puddle of beer without wiping it up and went away. I'm sure she was distracted by demands at other tables, but c'mon man! However, the oysters were fresh (yum) and my salad was crisp. We'll be back!
We were having an evening out to attend a show and grab a bite to eat beforehand--a rare occurrence with children at home. It was a pleasant experience: the food was prompt and prepared to order, the ambiance was warm, and the seating was perfect...not too close or too far from others. We were in a little room off the main dining hall which I would likely request in the future.
Salads: fresh and interesting combinations
Risotto: cooked perfectly, neither crunchy nor soft
Sirloin: medium rare and tender
Mini apple tart: delightful; flaky crust and flavorful apples
Small wedge of chocolate torte: divine
Fishbones knows how to cook and is amazingly consistent in serving fantastic meals. I've lost track of how many times I've eaten there, and have never-ever had anything less than a great experience. As the name implies, Fishbones is known for its excellent seafood, but also has satisfying options for guests who prefer a meat or vegetarian meal. My go-to favorite is the Angus steak salad -- mixed greens, tender steak, balsamic dressing, and a nice flatbread on the side, yum!
It was a great night. Thought we might have to wait even with a reservation but we walked in and were able to sit right away. We were not rushed into ordering which we appreciated, as we were with friends we hadn't seen in a while. The only minor complaint was when we ordered our 2nd drink there was a rather long delay getting the. The order was very easy - two red wines and 1 white. Great night and will be back!
We had a pre-theater dinner at Fish Bones in Lewiston last night. I had the Duo of Duck which was excellent. Other dishes at our table were the Land and Sea and the Scallops. Also an order of the spicy wings. Our waitress looked like Emma Watson :) She was attentive and friendly. We will be going back soon as we enjoyed the meal and look forward to trying other menu items.
My friend was visiting from Montreal and I wanted her to have a nice dinner with me. I chose Fish Bones because she likes fish. We both had a glass of wine and the haddock dinner. We both liked the entree. I was a little put off by our waitress who wanted to clear the plates in the middle of our dinner. We had to tell her that we were still eating! We split a creme brûlée with coffee to end the evening. We both enjoyed our food and would recommend it highly.
Very near to Bates College and a great place to take the kids when you are visiting. Took our daughter and several friends out for dinner. Food is very good, especially the salmon, nice cocktails, and a nice ambiance. A great change for the kids from dining hall food!
Family birthday celebration. We were 4 adults and 2 children. There was no children's menu so the cost was quite high. My sea and shore meal looked delicious but the sirloin was cooked to a medium rare as asked for but it was quite tough. I set it aside and complained to the server. She asked why I did not complain earlier, but since it was a family affair, I did not want to make a scene. She credited me for the cost of my serving which was appreciated. The noise was quite loud as well, but we ate at 7 P.M. so that is somewhat to be expected, especially with brick walls and high ceilings.
