We are excited to welcome you to First & Oak! We offer outdoor seating on our heated patio and inside our intimate dining rooms. At the time of reservation, you will select standard (indoor) or outdoor seating. Please be mindful regarding the weather, it tends to get chilly as the night goes on. Seating is limited, if you need to cancel please allow us a minimum of 24 hours prior to your reservation to avoid any cancelation fees. We offer two dining experiences: traditional a la carte or a Chef's Five Course Tasting Menu. When reserving, please choose which experience you would prefer and let us know of any dietary restrictions. We look forward to welcoming you!

First and Oak is located inside the Mirabelle Inn, and was awarded a Michelin Plate designation in 2022. We offer a seasonally-inspired menu that highlights local and organic ingredients prepared in a thoughtful manner. Our dining room operates with the mindset of warm compassionate attentive service.

    Excellent gem and value in beautiful Solvang. Had the lightly crisp and creamy gnocchi, and it was perfect. Definitely would do the wine pairing menu next time. 5-Course tasting dinner is the best for your first visit. Then would do the 3-Course dinner once you know what you want.

    This was the best dining experience I can recall. Food was unique and delicious. Server and manager were very friendly and helpful. Nice space/ambiance and good music in the background. Wonderful experience!

    The food was excellent, if perhaps relying a bit too much on heavy cream, but the experience was somewhat marred by logistical surprises. First, nowhere in the OpenTable reservation process was there any indication that the restaurant had switched to set menus. Had we known that there was no longer an a la carte option (which I supposed we'd have known had we visited the restaurant's website), we'd have chosen to dine elsewhere, since we just don't do multi-course meals any more (at least, not without sharing). Second, the restaurant screwed up one of our orders. I'd ordered the fish option for the main course (a sea bass, in what looked, at the next table, like a lovely preparation), but what showed up was the grilled beef tenderloin. We didn't want my wife's main course to get cold while mine was re-ordered, so I went ahead and ate the steak. I can't complain about the dish--very nice piece of beef, perfectly cooked and well accompanied--but I'd really wanted the lighter fish dish, especially given the unexpected three-course requirement. After all that I was a bit surprised that the restaurant's sole concession was to comp my (not very expensive) glass of wine. After a main-course order bungle I'd have expected a restaurant of this rank to do a bit more--for example, reduce the price of my meal by about the cost of the main course. This was our third time a First & Oak, and it had been one of our two Solvang standbys (we often stay in the town en route from the Bay Area to SoCal where we live). No longer, I'm afraid.

    Innovative and delicious! We were given a choice of two menus--three course or five course. Each course except for the starter, had two choices. We had the five course menu and we moaned in pleasure after each bite. The cauliflower dish was especially good! Nice service and a lovely atmosphere. All in all a wonderful experience!

    It was definitely unique and something you wouldn’t routinely do! Very different menu and may very likely not appeal to your average diner. 5 courses so you don’t leave hungry and it takes at least 90 minutes so don’t be in a hurry. Great service and very accommodating to every dietary need .

    Great visit to First and Oak, great service and location, top notch food, with one exception. Birthday dinner for me and my wife, we ordered the 5 course tasting menu. All courses were outstanding. If the gnocchi is offered, get it, it is to die for (i think this was on the third course). However, for the 4th course, get the tenderloin or pork--i got the halibut, and it was overcooked, and generally lacked flavor. But everything else was great. One note, upon checking out, there is a 4% service fee for kitchen staff already added in. That's fine, it should be pointed out up front, and i adjusted my tip appropriately. I just don't like the way so many restaurants today try to nickel and dime you, add on fees, etc. Just add it to the menu price. Or be very up front about it. Save for that fee and the halibut, this would have been a 5-star meal.

    A must for fine dining in Solvang! We went for a celebratory dinner and were not disappointed. We had the caviar and the 5-coarse tasting meal and it was incredible. The truffled cauliflower 2nd coarse was one of the best things we have ever had. The ricotta gnocchi, steak and pork were also delicious. Can't say enough wonderful things about our experience. We definitely want to go back!

    The tuna appetizer was so small. It was barely a mouthful. The cauliflower course was not appetizing and I have enjoyed better versions of the same. The steak was delicious and so was desert. I didn’t feel It was an $85.00 meal.

    Food was excellent- atmosphere was nice (only four stars because of a noisy fellow diner - it’s a small room so anyone without an “inside voice” is disruptive). The service is first- class. Wine choices were very good-I recommend trying the owners wine.

    We indulged in the five course tasting menu with the wine pairings, and everything was wonderful. Introduced us to a new Orange wine, which we'd never tried: Coquelicot - Beton Blanc, produced locally in the Santa Ynez valley. Setting was pleasant on the outdoor patio, the music selection a soothing contemporary mix adding to the overall ambiance. Highly recommend.

    The food was unique and surprising. Neither my wife nor I had experienced the interesting and nuanced flavors that combined for a concert of enjoyment. Also, each course came with its own perfectly matched wine. It was a delight for the senses, and we will be back in the not-too-distant future to be dazzled again.

    What a terrific place! Get the prix fixe dinner. It's wonderful--artful, interesting creative mix of flavors/texture, abundant w/o one feeling stuffed at the end. E.g. perfect. Plus the front patio is charming and quiet...a great place to chat with friends over an amazing meal served perfectly. Bravo

    Absolutely amazing dining experience. From the wine to each and every course, this place was over the top delicious. We did the 5 course tasting, one vegetarian and one not. Both were delicious. The cauliflower course was one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. Service was wonderful as well. We will be back next year!!
