Firkin on Yonge Ratings and Reviews
We had a relatively late Saturday night dinner here and ran into one snag - kids cannot be present after 9. We did manage to eat and leave in time. Food was bar fare with a more varied menu than expected, including curry. Everyone else had burgers and poutine. Onion rings were particularly good. Service was quite efficient.
We had a large group that had dinner after a recent theatre show. Our table was ready when we arrived and we loved the location - we were seated in a small alcove upstairs which was great for our group to talk and enjoy our meal (too many times you go to restaurants and you can't have a conversation because the music is so loud)!! The staff were very friendly and the service was very good. We will definitely come back the next time we are at a show!
Easy reservation booking! Got a text when the table was ready. The 3 Little Yorkies were amazing, but don't recommend for sharing...we ordered 2 for 4 of us to share, and then ordered 2 more! Delicious!! Wine is very reasonably priced. Will definitely go back!!
my family always comes down to Toronto for a Christmas celebration. We have been coming down for 32 years and Mr green jeans was our restaurant of choice . It closed 3 years ago and we tried differ restaurants as a replacement but had no luck until we tried FIRKIN ON YOUNGE .
The restaurant was alive with happy people ,great music and fantastic service .
We had a party of 11 and it was unanimous, we found our replacement.
Continued success and we will back December 2018
We dined at Firkin on Yonge a couple of weeks ago and had a great meal. This time however we were disappointed. The chicken breast on the salad was very dry, over cooked, and did not have much flavour. Although we enjoyed the ambiance of the resturant/pub, we were quite dissatisfied with our meal. Our server was pleasant and she had no control over the food.
I hope the cook (s) got the message from us.
Arrived on time, in fact 5 mins early, and the hostess did not have my (this) reservation. They were , however, able to seat us, but does not excuse the obvious issue with Open Table reservation software. The music and noise level were exceptional. Had to send my Firkin Burger back as it was undercooked (boarderline pink/red). Server was very apologetic and put a rush order in with the kitchen. While I was waiting, and everyone else in my party was finished eating, the table next to me had to send back her chicken pasta as it was still frozen in some areas and she found a bone. Overall, not a good experience and I will not recommend Firkin on Yonge and will also call to confirm Open Table as properly sent my reservation to the restaurant and that they have rec'd it.
Unfortunately this Firkin just didn't stand up to some of the other locations. I've previously been to Firkin on the Bay and the one near the ACC, had a great experience at both of those! Expected this Firkin to be similar, but it was much much older and outdated, none of the same funky/modern decor as the others. I had the fish tacos, food was good. Again, not nearly as well prepared as other locations.
Our server couldn't remember what we ordered, and did not write anything down. No cutlery, no nothing until we finally asked a different server. Order a round of waters half way through our meal and again had to finally ask another server for them because our server was not getting them. Maybe being stuck at the back by the kitchen was the issue? Even though we had a reservation for 3 days.
This was all at a 5:30 Saturday dinner prior to a show at the Elgin theatre next door. Won't be returning to this one, but would recommend the other Firkin's in Toronto!
I will go back to the OTHER locations for sure!
The food was just average, nothing special. Instead of including french fries with the burger (like the menu posted outside the restaurant), it was an add-on which was on the menu given the diner. Just seemed off when other entrees had the sides included. Food was not hot, just warm.
We are a group of business associates who meet monthly in different bars and restaurants. Firkin on Yonge was our worst experience. The hostess was rude and we thought it's just her. But the server was even more rude. She treated us really badly without courtesy. She did not like any questions (or seeking suggestions) and gave an impression that menu card should have been 100% sufficient for us to decide. We felt really awful. I believe the place being on Yonge St. get so much walk in traffic that they are not focused on establishing service standards and attracting clients to revisit.
Nachos were bad. Fish tacos were ok. Everything was quite greasy and heavy. This place neither has any food standard nor service standard. Yes, it was clean and organized.
We had dinner here before a show at Massey Hall. We called them to say we were stuck in traffic and would be late and they held the reservation for us. We have been here before. Service was friendly and excellent. We all enjoyed our food except the brussel sprouts. I wont get them again. Otherwise we were happy and will go back.
Looking for a nice meal before a show. Average food, mediocre service, server unable to answer most questions regarding menu, extremely loud, impossible to have any kind of conversation. Do not recommend for anyone other than drinkers & party animals or for watching a big game night.
Most of food was on the bit too salty side. One dish, the cheese & artichoke dip, came out undercooked--the cheese on top was not even melted--which ruined the texture and flavor of the dish, a dish whuch requires baking, melting and carmelizing of the ingredients in order to complete the flavor profile.
Worse service ever. The server messed up my simple order of Burger 3 times bringing me the wrong order. No apologies. While my friends were done with their food and I was on my 4th beer I was still waiting for my food. The server was way too busy to hangout with her friends who were sitting at the bar. Terrible service, extremely disappointed.
Very busy Saturday night with a Massey Hall show going on around the corner. Service was fast and friendly despite how busy it was and food was very hot! Ordered the sandwich and beer specials, both good value. $5 Belgian moon pints, awesome! Great for a quick meal or drink.
Penne pasta was shameful! Sauce was gluey, and we were originally informed that it's a thick cheese sauce, and supposed to be that way. Not a chance!
We were delivered extra sauce for the pasta, but it only made it more sticky.
We're a very reasonable and ralaxed family, and things need to be practically inedible for us to complain. That's what this pasta was!
Yes, it was eventually credited, but everything else we had was also average at best:
Nothing is made fresh here is it?
The Firkin burger came straight out a frozen box. My pesto Chicken club contained a WAFER-thin piece of chicken that didn't reach the edges of my bread on either side.
The wings are tasty, but TINY and over-priced, and the duck wings, are seemingly a novelty item that I can't imagine many patrons would ever order a second time (I certainly wouldn't). The other dishes - Fish & chips, and chicago beef were considered "just OK".
Not one of the 6 of us truly enjoyed their meal.
I used to visit Firkin pubs regularyly because they were good, but It's been some time since my last. If this is the direction it's going, it's not good.
There's certainly no reason for any one of the 6 of us to come back, and based on our dinner converstaions, none of us will be
