cramped in an awkward table upstairs up against a workstation. Food very averag at best. Server was pleasant and friendly, but seemed to be busy and we rarely saw her.
Great food and great service. Good please to have a quick meal before show
Amazing food, service, space. Was a little on the noisy side but not too too bad. Second floor was quieter :)
Great spot for a bite before a show at Massey Hall
Service was just OK. It was busy, but waitress should of checked to see how food was after serving. Food wasn’t very good at all. Poutine fries, below average, Butcher on the rye sandwich was awful. Meat was tough and very fatty. Couldn’t even bite through it.
Great place to eat before the show.
Firkin on Yonge is a great place for a pre-theatre bite and drinks. The Steam Whistle was good, thanks to the waitress that pushed it on us. We had the nachos with chorizo sausage, great! The hot sauce they serve is tasty and locally made.
We all had a great night. Great for accessibility, with easy entrance into the building and an elevator for the upper floor and the washrooms, which are also accessible (for those who aren't able to take the stairs).
Good pub style food and the service was good. Staff were welcoming and helpful with ideas/food selections.
Thank you for the great atmosphere before heading to the Elgin Theatre!
A fun time and tasty meal. Although we reserved for 2, friends called to reserve and asked to be seated with us. We were accommodated without being made to feel as if we were putting anyone out. Our server was very pleasant and knowledgeable. I though she went above and beyond the call of duty with us and always had a smile. We enjoyed ourselves so much, we came back after the theatre for a drink and conversation. We had the same server and she was equally as accommodating and pleasant.
Seemed understaffed. Everyone was polite, so I don't think it was any particular worker's attitude.
The service at this location is very slow. Seemed that there was 1 waitress for the entire upstairs. My meal came wrong. I asked for no spice yet the kitchen sent it out with the spicy spread on it. The waitress was nice but very slow to bring our drinks.
Ordered the curry chicken and rice. It was totally inedible. The rice was clumped together and my fork could not penetrate to pick it up. I couldn’t really find the chicken in the curry it was all large pieces of onions.
Will never come here again.
Great location. Food was very good. The service was perfect. Ty Mark.
We had a relatively late Saturday night dinner here and ran into one snag - kids cannot be present after 9. We did manage to eat and leave in time. Food was bar fare with a more varied menu than expected, including curry. Everyone else had burgers and poutine. Onion rings were particularly good. Service was quite efficient.
We had a large group that had dinner after a recent theatre show. Our table was ready when we arrived and we loved the location - we were seated in a small alcove upstairs which was great for our group to talk and enjoy our meal (too many times you go to restaurants and you can't have a conversation because the music is so loud)!! The staff were very friendly and the service was very good. We will definitely come back the next time we are at a show!
Great service and food was good overall I enjoyed it and it was nice and close to the Elgin Theatre
The food was very good but the service was very slow . To be fair , there were 7 of us .
Good food but the pub was very loud and noisy...too noisy to be able to talk to my fellow diners.
We were late for our reservation but a quick phone call saved our table no problem! Fish n Chips wasn't fantastic but the burgers were good. Service was excellent especially considering how busy it was!
The staff was very accommodating; the food selection was broad enough and tasted good; the value for money was appropriate. All in all, taking a large family for a meal prior to attending the theatre was a pleasant experience.
Easy reservation booking! Got a text when the table was ready. The 3 Little Yorkies were amazing, but don't recommend for sharing...we ordered 2 for 4 of us to share, and then ordered 2 more! Delicious!! Wine is very reasonably priced. Will definitely go back!!
We never ate. They tookway to long to take our order.
We went for a pre-theatre meal. The food was adequate, but not spectacular. That being said, it was delivered in a reasonable amount of time, and the prices were not too bad. The noise level made conversation difficult, even in the back of the restaurant.
my family always comes down to Toronto for a Christmas celebration. We have been coming down for 32 years and Mr green jeans was our restaurant of choice . It closed 3 years ago and we tried differ restaurants as a replacement but had no luck until we tried FIRKIN ON YOUNGE .
The restaurant was alive with happy people ,great music and fantastic service .
We had a party of 11 and it was unanimous, we found our replacement.
Continued success and we will back December 2018
We dined at Firkin on Yonge a couple of weeks ago and had a great meal. This time however we were disappointed. The chicken breast on the salad was very dry, over cooked, and did not have much flavour. Although we enjoyed the ambiance of the resturant/pub, we were quite dissatisfied with our meal. Our server was pleasant and she had no control over the food.
I hope the cook (s) got the message from us.
Music was quite loud. Main courses were good however dessert was over cooked. Service was fine.
Too noisy. Music too loud for 5 pm. While eating it would be nice to have music lower to allow conversation. Louder maybe around 8 pm. Food ok but not as good as expected.
Good pub food with good staff serving it. Bit noisy but they did turn down the volume when asked!
Arrived on time, in fact 5 mins early, and the hostess did not have my (this) reservation. They were , however, able to seat us, but does not excuse the obvious issue with Open Table reservation software. The music and noise level were exceptional. Had to send my Firkin Burger back as it was undercooked (boarderline pink/red). Server was very apologetic and put a rush order in with the kitchen. While I was waiting, and everyone else in my party was finished eating, the table next to me had to send back her chicken pasta as it was still frozen in some areas and she found a bone. Overall, not a good experience and I will not recommend Firkin on Yonge and will also call to confirm Open Table as properly sent my reservation to the restaurant and that they have rec'd it.
Location is everything. Otherwise, the fried cauliflower was unimaginative fast-food and dry ribs were breaded like chicken fingers (yuk). We weren’t told that they were out of the item we wanted until we ordered. Ho hum.
Unfortunately this Firkin just didn't stand up to some of the other locations. I've previously been to Firkin on the Bay and the one near the ACC, had a great experience at both of those! Expected this Firkin to be similar, but it was much much older and outdated, none of the same funky/modern decor as the others. I had the fish tacos, food was good. Again, not nearly as well prepared as other locations.
Our server couldn't remember what we ordered, and did not write anything down. No cutlery, no nothing until we finally asked a different server. Order a round of waters half way through our meal and again had to finally ask another server for them because our server was not getting them. Maybe being stuck at the back by the kitchen was the issue? Even though we had a reservation for 3 days.
This was all at a 5:30 Saturday dinner prior to a show at the Elgin theatre next door. Won't be returning to this one, but would recommend the other Firkin's in Toronto!
I will go back to the OTHER locations for sure!
My husband and I didn’t have a lot of time before our show at Massey Hall. Our server help us to get our meals and make it to the show with time to spare.
Was seated in a very noisy section and when we tried to move they would not accommodate us
fish was too fishy tasting and not hot enough.Onion rings are great, but for $7 pretty small.
Our server was wonderful! She was engaging and friendly. I love a server who can laugh with their patrons. Keep up the good work!
Great service the staff had our group of 6 out in time for a concert at Massy Hall! The food was typical pub food.
The food was just average, nothing special. Instead of including french fries with the burger (like the menu posted outside the restaurant), it was an add-on which was on the menu given the diner. Just seemed off when other entrees had the sides included. Food was not hot, just warm.
We are a group of business associates who meet monthly in different bars and restaurants. Firkin on Yonge was our worst experience. The hostess was rude and we thought it's just her. But the server was even more rude. She treated us really badly without courtesy. She did not like any questions (or seeking suggestions) and gave an impression that menu card should have been 100% sufficient for us to decide. We felt really awful. I believe the place being on Yonge St. get so much walk in traffic that they are not focused on establishing service standards and attracting clients to revisit.
Nachos were bad. Fish tacos were ok. Everything was quite greasy and heavy. This place neither has any food standard nor service standard. Yes, it was clean and organized.
We had dinner here before a show at Massey Hall. We called them to say we were stuck in traffic and would be late and they held the reservation for us. We have been here before. Service was friendly and excellent. We all enjoyed our food except the brussel sprouts. I wont get them again. Otherwise we were happy and will go back.
The staff were very helpful and made our evening with good food.
