Firestone's Culinary Tavern, opened in 1999, is located in downtown Frederick's picturesque Historic District. It is housed in a 1921 building that was initially the home of Shipley's Department Store. The restaurant combines outstanding cuisine with the casual atmosphere of a neighborhood tavern. The Washington Post says, "the atmosphere is prime...the food is, too!".

Firestone's Ratings and Reviews
I took my mother here for her birthday and it was a great birthday brunch. Our waiter, Tyler, was so friendly and helpful. Our food came out at a good pace. The Sunday we were there was great because of the live music and great view from the top. I will defiantly go there again in the future for another birthday, get together, date etc. Can't say enough how great their dinning experience was. My mother loved it and that made all the world to me. Would recommend to anyone who wants good food in a fun and vibrant place.
Son s wishes before he leaves for west coast . We had to wait about 45 min for the table but the manager was kind enough to offer us drinks in the house while waiting. Service. Food and all that were great and we had a great time!
The food was phenomenal; however, the service needs work. It was a special occassion we were celebrating and our server kept rushing us through our dinner service. I can only assume she was doing this because the restaurant was packed and they needed the table. But every time we were working on our meal she wanted to remove our plates before we were done. Same thing happened when we ordered our appetizers and entrees and even with the dessert. We really wanted to finish our meal as it was very delicious but overall the whole experience felt rushed. I wasn’t taking pica or anything with my phone to prolong my dinner my husband and I were just eating and I don’t even think we are that much slow eaters. If you want a quick rushed bite, this is the place for you but if you want to share the moment and have time for a conversation with someone and actually have time to finish your meal go elsewhere.
There were little options for gluten free. We ended up just getting the shrimp cocktail appetizer and going to Brewers Alley for lunch because they have a gluten free menu there. With so many restaurants offering GF options I was surprised Firestone’s had nothing to offer. Very disappointing.
Firestone’s is one of our favorites. Great food and excellent service. My only complaint is the noise. The bar is right below the tables and on a Friday or Saturday night the noise level can make it hard to have a conversation. We are going to try to go on weeknights from now on.
Four friends gather before attending a concert. The meal was delicious, especially the creme brulee we all had for dessert. Our server Tyler great, friendly, informative and responsive. And bonus was the jazz trio on the lower level in the bar area and we enjoyed the view of Market Street from the upper level table.
Only found this restaurant in the last year, but this place is a real gem. The wait staff is friendly and knowledgeable, the ambiance is amazing, and the food is exceptional. Seriously, the quality, the presentation, the flavors - this is a great dining experience. And the menu runs the full gamut - from salads and sandwiches to an amazing cowboy steak. These are the best chefs in Frederick. I love this place!
We love Firestones. It's the perfect blend of casual and elegant. Wonderful, creative food that's not overdone. Great wine list. Be sure to go early for an aperitif and some oysters at their little raw bar next door to the restaurant, and stop by their gourmet shop afterward to get something lovely to take home.
Had a wonderful meal here. Made reservations to sit in the upstairs window. With the Christmas Lights in the trees, it was very festive. Would recommend making sure you get one of those tables for extra ambiance. Server was friendly. Loved the asparagus soup given as a taste before the meal came out. Very nice touch. I ordered the Duo of Duck, and it was the best duck dish I have had. Both versions of the duck were tasty without being gamey at all. The polenta and celeriac complemented the duck perfectly. The brussel sprouts however were a little underdone for my liking. Overall very delicious though. Wife had the tomato and goat cheese gnocchi. The gnocchi were so soft and light. Melted in your mouth with a wonderful complementing sauce. Very romantic evening. Will absolutely return.
Lovely view of old-town from the upstairs tables! I had the BBQ pulled pork sandwich and was surprised how amazingly tasty it was- not too sweet like regular BBQ, and very tender and moist pork. Also the fries were top-notch, which is So important! I went with a friend and can't wait to take my husband back there! Also thanks to the patient staff who kept our table even though we were running late. Staff were very attentive and friendly.
Once a year, my group of childhood friends meets for lunch. We always look for a restaurant with a good menu, ambience and a quiet corner where we can converse and linger over our meal. Firestone fit the bill. We had a great time and the food was delicious.
