Firestone's Culinary Tavern, opened in 1999, is located in downtown Frederick's picturesque Historic District. It is housed in a 1921 building that was initially the home of Shipley's Department Store. The restaurant combines outstanding cuisine with the casual atmosphere of a neighborhood tavern. The Washington Post says, "the atmosphere is prime...the food is, too!".

Firestone's Ratings and Reviews
We came for Mother's Day. We should have known better then to order the prime rib when they mis-spelled it on the menu. 32$ for re-heated prime rib and out of the can aujus, then they served my wife's med-rare order very well done. I'm extremely dis-appointed. Firestones is better then this.
It's nice to have a good food experience in a more casual atmosphere. The menu changes daily so I won't include details on menu items we tried. Plating and presentation was colorful and attractive. The noise level was a bit high and at times it made for difficult conversation. Overall, it was a good experience and I would return.
Was disappointed in the wait time even though I had a reservation. Upon arrival I was told there would be a delay because I added an additional person. Understandable, however I was disappointed that the hostess allowed walk-ins (who arrived after my party) to be seated before I was seated. Additionally, although we ordered ahead of 4 other tables, our food was the last to arrive. The server came to the table and stated she would speak to the manager to figure out the delay in our food. Unfortunately, neither the server nor the manager came by to follow-up.
Went to Firestones for a lunch with my wife and a friend, and it was excellent. I had the raw oyster appetizer, my wife had the hanger steak and eggs, and our friend had a Monte Cristo. All were very, very tasty. Additionally the mimosas and Bourbon Sours were generous and flavorful. The wait staff was attentive, but not intrusive during the meal. Waters were refreshed at just the right frequency. Overall, a delightful meal. And yes, we will return!
Excellent restaurant in Frederick, MD. We'll definitely be back. Great menu selection, enjoyed out appetizers, dinner and wine. Service was good, but waiter didn't seem to be very focused or attentive. There were other wait staff, for table pickup and water, they were very prompt.
Firestone's is our annual long distance anniversary brunch. After several years of driving the 100 miles each way, we began to wonder when our expectations would begin to exceed our experience. Certainly not yet. The ambiance and the food remain amazing and the service continues to be the best we receive anywhere. We're already looking forward to next year.
We had fantastic service and the food was excellent and well presented. Firestone does little things that make you feel like you are at a very expensive restaurant like provide sorbet to cleanse your palate between courses. The only downside is the noise of you want a quiet meal, given the openness and proximity of the bar.
We really enjoy eating at Firestones's, but I was disappointed with the location of our table. I requested to be at a quiet, romantic table and we were right above the bar and it was very noisy. The food and service was excellent. We will possibly come back, but definitely not on a Saturday night.
In this return visit, we met friends, had a drink in the bar, and were seated at an upstairs window seat overlooking Market Street promptly at our reservation time. We shared baked oysters and calamari appetizers, both of which were very good. Four different entries-prime rib, trout, lamb roulade and crab cake-were beautifully presented and delicious. Service was pleasant and knowledgeable.
I have nothing but good things to say. It's been four years since I moved away from Frederick and it was well worth the hour drive from Anne Arundel to dine here with my husband. All staff was on point, our martinis were made perfectly, and the waiter was friendly and offered useful information. We are excited to return. The food was delightful and obviously great care went into its preparation. I cook often at home, so when I go out I'm looking for things that are either beyond my skill to make, or that offer ideas into future recipes- and I want a pleasant dining experience with my husband to enjoy quality time. I was granted every one of my wishes..thank you to chef and staff for creating a memorable evening!
