Firestone's Culinary Tavern, opened in 1999, is located in downtown Frederick's picturesque Historic District. It is housed in a 1921 building that was initially the home of Shipley's Department Store. The restaurant combines outstanding cuisine with the casual atmosphere of a neighborhood tavern. The Washington Post says, "the atmosphere is prime...the food is, too!".

Firestone's Ratings and Reviews
My fiance is a picky eater and it's always a struggle finding somewhere that he enjoys. I took him to firestones this year for his birthday for the second time and he got the hanger steak and still hasn't stopped talking about how good it was. I got the deviled eggs and watermelon and prosciutto and it was incredible. I've never been let down for a meal here. They've got a variety of options. Our waiter was very attentive and recommended a wine that I'm now in love with.
The food was excellent from beginning to end. The atmosphere is busy and reminds one of NYC! Our waiter was professional, funny and knowledgeable. This place is a must if you live or visit Frederick. A great night and a 5 star rating from our friends who have lived in Manhattan for the past 10 years.
I took my boyfriend and my parents to Firestone's for two occasions- celebrating their anniversary and introducing him to them. Our server, Chris, was extremely polite, helpful, and professional, and he really helped us relax and enjoy ourselves. My parents don't enjoy a lot of meals out, and they were both at ease and impressed. My mom tried mussels for the first time and loved them (I agreed that they were excellent). This spot (and Chris) are both worth recommending.
Firestone's for lunch, midweek...something new for us, but a real pleasure. Was seated upstairs, with a nice view through the large windows. We were able to sit and talk comfortably. The staff was attentive, knew the menu and the wine/beer selections very well and provided some good suggestions. Our meal came out with just the right timing, and we loved our oyster po'boy and shrimp and grits selections.
Went here for a small get together and it could not have been more perfect. They had live music that wasn't too loud and the food was great!! I would not take a group larger than 6 as it is not a large building. The service was a bit slow, but we didn't mind. We will definitely be coming back!!
They held our table when we called running late due to traffic jam which was great. Our server Alice, who we've had before was gracious and attentive. We had duck confit spring rolls, heirloom tomato salad buratta, crab dip, and oysters on the half shell. I personally had lamb roulade. The apps were delicious and my lamb was fork tender and very good, but there was such a splash too much salt here and there through the plate which was forgivable but unexpected. My friend had the aged cowboy steak medium rare. The steak was high quality but overcooked when it came out. They quickly brought out another cooked properly but it was of lesser quality and had lots of fat and sinew. We sent it away and they took it off the bill and sent the GM out to apologize and offered other options. The other diners were happy with their meals. Having eaten here before, I can say they usually get everything pretty right but it was just an off night for the kitchen regarding steak I guess. I will be back in spite of this faux pas.
It was all great. The meals - salmon and crab cake were the best after dining in Frederick for 20 years. The view down on Market Street was a riot. Service was spectacular.
Just a couple of loud voices, but quieted down when they started to eat. They gotta eat too.
We love eating at Firestones's. From the minute we walked in the hostess greeted us with a friendly smile and brought us immediately to our table. Then the fun really begun. Our waiter was lively and very knowledgeable about the restaurant. He obviously wanted us to enjoy everything about eating at Firestone's. From appetizers to dessert everything was superb. We can't wait to go back!
Don't be fooled by the 1920s building and antique interior because Firestone's menu is sure to blow your mind. The menu ranges from simple items like hamburgers to fancy entrees like scallops, crab cakes, lamb and others. We were served zucchini bisque, compliments from the Chef and Pineapple Sorbet to clean our pallets in preparation for our entrées. The ChopHouse Burger is A MUST! The service was equally amazing! Truly a gem in the historic downtown Frederick area!
Alice seemed very pleasant and attentive at first, but she forgot ketchup and tending to our soda refills after we asked when she served the food. She seemed to forget about us; saw her only tending one other table near wait station.
Good presentation and quality were excellent.
