Our waitress was amazing, service was great the food and drinks was great! We both will be coming back soon. I would recommend everyone to visit Fireplace Inn!
I absolutely love Fireplace Inn especially being a Purdue Alum. Our waiter was extremely accommodating and he really seems to love his job. I would recommend this place simply because of him. Also it helps to make a reservation so you have a table and don’t have to stand during busy times.
The food and service was great.
Ribs were better than ever. Grecian chicken was outstanding. Fun atmosphere with varied menu at affordable prices. Great place to watch games.
The entire staff was warm, very helpful, and very friendly, especially having to work on the holiday. My grandfather has fond memories of that restaurant when he used to bring my Nana. My mother had a question about some lettering on the wall and the waiter (who smelled amazing) took the time to explain the history of the restaurant answering my Mom's question and resonating with my GrandDad. Love that the game was on so many tvs. Great steak. I'll be back.
Went there for 3rd wedding anniversary never been it was excellent we ordered 3 appetizers
Ribs chicken wings and onion rings
Saturday 6 PM. Noise level unacceptable. It was deafening.
We went on Mother's Day for "brunch". Not 1 employee told my wife Happy Mother's Day - we were with our 2 year old daughter. Ordered mimosa and bloody Mary. Bloody Mary tasted good but had sad looking garnish on it. The garnish did not look fresh at all. Mimosa came in a wine glass filled half the way up. Looked low value. Tasted just ok. The brunch menu had nothing BBQ about it even though this is a Q joint. The menu was a raggedy piece of paper with lopsided printing. We skipped it and went for the main menu. Ordered 2 mediocre sandwiches. Uninspired food on rough looking old plates. My wife took 3 bites, I ate half. Tables looked beat up. I asked my wife if she wanted to leave and go somewhere else once the imposter mimosa showed up but she decided we should stay. A decision she later regretted. She's too nice sometimes. I should have saved us from this misery. We won't ever be back to this place... can't pay us to do so.
We made reservations for a family dinner which we believed would be in the dining room. They sat us in the bar area with an underaged child. We were accosted at the door and then the server argued with me about what I ordered. The entire table agreed that she did get the order wrong. After not taking our drink order, we requested water. Never came back for refills until we were practically finished with dinner.
It was a nice restaurant to go to for a family dinner after my daughter’s college graduation. The food and service was great. It was a nice atmosphere. I’m glad I made a reservation but it got quickly crowded (on Thursday night). My one and only issue was the valet parking. Like open table said, they have it but it is 1/2 block down in front of another restaurant. That caused some confusion and left my elderly father driving around looking for a parking spot. The employee is in front of the building was clueless. I finally asked the hostess and explained where it was and to ask for a special ticket to be validated. All in all it was a good night.
We sat with a party of five upstairs on a Friday night. It took over 15 minutes before someone asked what we wanted to drink. After the water, it took a long time to order a glass of wine and beer as we waited for the rest of our party. After our drinks came, we finally ordered dinner. The food was mediocre. I ordered a medium well burger that was very rare. My husband’s burger was dry without much flavor. I felt like they just blew off the upstairs part of the restaurant. That’s too bad because I was hoping it to be great.
Came here for the Purdue game, made a reservation and we sat for 20 minutes without anyone coming to take our order. I understand it’s busy, but one would hope you would overstaff for Purdue games/St Patty weekend. We always have awful service here which is unfortunate because the food is pretty good. I will be going to other Purdue bars from now on.
Like eating at a frat house.
AMAZING - thank god I made a res place was packed
This is not a restaurant anymore. It is a bar. They should be more clear about this on their website so people don't waste their time going to dinner here.
Nice spot. The food was ok, service was good and it was really a cool atmosphere. I will be back.
I hadn't been there in awhile. The food was good but the place has turned into a noisy sports bar with lots of drunken people falling and shouting.
Good American fare, good service and pleasant atmosphere all in the center of Old Town!
Food just ok, nothing special
Menu too varied. Overpriced steaks at a sports bar?
Service poor, not very attentive
Good appetizers, brew and menu selection. The waiter was good but had way too many tables to mind for a Thursday night dinner hour. Will definitely come back.
They gave us a rack of ribs that were cold. No apology nothing. The ribs were obviously frozen and re-heated and tasted as such. Much better options in Chicago than this place.
This used to be a standard sporting event go to. Now it’s just downright depressing. There is no atmosphere no ambience it’s just cold depressing and uninviting. Next time I will order in as thankfully the food is still delicious
Fireplace inn is one of my favorite neighborhood bars to meet up with my friends in the area and watch a hockey game or just to have a super affordable happy hour with. I love their Thai chili wings and the buffalo wings. That’s mainly what I eat there and it never disappoints.
Great place to watch sports
Much has changed at the fireplace inn. Food was okay. Probably won’t make the trip there again.
Service was indifferent. Bus people were friendly Waitress was really not interested in being there.
we had a great time celebrating friends and family. a great spot where the food and mixed drinks were outstanding; kudos to the chef and bartender. we will definitely come back. Fireplace Inn NEVER disappoints.
Great place to hang with friends, watch sports and drink. Total bar scene. Food was average.
Food was good but did not care to sit at high top table on sidewalk. Better seating indoors for conversation.
It’s in a great area and the food & service was great. I would highly recommend it.
The service and food was great. My server Michelle M helped make my Dad's father's dad special. She was very kind and attentive. Thanks Michelle and Chef!
Sat on the quieter side for a Sunday dinner. Looks like there’s some remodeling happening. Prompt service-very pleasant dinner. Gazpacho soup was amazing! Very authentic, not too oniony. Ribs were tasty as usual. Twice baked were a twist on the traditional version-really enjoyed them!!
It was great at start but our waiter had lack of focus on our order and didn’t really give the menu advice. She didn’t just mess up our order once but twice and by this point I was already furious I waited 1 hr for no food. Manager handled it very professional but I wish they would hire more people with a higher attention spand👀
As others have posted, The Fireplace Inn is extremely noisy; I felt sorry for our waiter ( who provided good service). It strongly detracted from the fact that our food was quite good.
I visited the restaurant years back when it was a restaurant with a bar, now its a bar with a resturant. Quick bites, burgers etc..might be ok.
I ordered the bone in ribeye, served to me cold and dry. No au ju on the plate. Crab cake was some frozen round that had the flavor of crab, no crab found. Even the baked potato was old and cold. Bad choice!
We enjoyed it
I have been going to this restaurant for decades. But in years past, it was a lovely upscale quiet restaurant where one could enjoy a nice dinner with others. Now, it is a loud sports bar, too loud for me to enjoy and I left without eating. It's probably a wonderful experience for younger people who seek out a sports bar. I'm just beyond that point in life.
RIBS - only reason to go here are the fantastic ribs - everything else pales by comparison and there are other places to get better non-rib BBQ and burgers - service was slow and disorganized but the ribs were great
I arrived 30 minutes early to my reservation at Fireplace Inn. Upon arriving the hostess told me they DID NOT have my reservation in their system. I showed her the email confirmation I received from OpenTable as well as the text message I received confirming the reservation for the time and day. Despite this, they did not and would not seat us. I had a reservation for 12 people and we were all in ready to be seated. The hostess blamed OpenTable for the issue, saying that they never received my reservation request and hence it was not in their system. So, we did not get our table and were forced to go home for the night.
EXTREMELY disappointing as I made this reservation several WEEKS in advance, and it was the Final Four basketball tournament so it was impossible to find another table for 12 people at any restaurant in Old Town , River North, or anywhere in the area.
First of all it was St Patrick's Day. I've never been here but since I had Second City tix we decide to go somewhere close. This place was a complete party nightmare. Why they took a reservation is beyond me. We waited in line outside 30+ minutes to go into the most filthy disgusting places I've been. Why are they taking reservations as if they are a restaurant? This is a bar. A dive bar. Horrible.
