I met up with two friends for dinner, we wanted to try a place that we’ve never experienced before. I’ve walked past Fireplace Inn numerous times so I decided why not finally have dinner there. We all enjoyed our food and the large portions. Would definitely go back.

Good, dependable food. Fun atmosphere, good service. Sat upstairs to find a more quiet place for the four of us.

It was recommended and the lead Up was disappointing. Not a TRUE BBQ no brisket except on a sandwhich?? It's true BBQ with Brisket, pulled pork and Chicken combos. VERY DISAPPOINTED won't be back 😞😞

This was terrible. When I lived in Chicago, Fireplace Inn was one of my favorite restaurants. It is now a horribly loud and crowded sports bar. We didn't stay. We left and walked to Twin Anchors.

I remember this place from years ago, dark and quiet, busy with food like smoked bbq ribs that fell off the bone and melted in your mouth. Today it is a sportsbar with good food. Not the same, but fine for what it is.

My son had just graduated from naval boot camp the day before Thanksgiving. I took him here for Thanksgiving dinner. I had the turkey dinner and it was awesome. My son, had the surf and turf, which was excellent.
Our waiter was fantastic. Couldn’t ask for a better place to spend Thanksgiving with my son in Chicago.

Server looked annoyed that she had to work. It was a Saturday night and it was very busy. I'm not sure if she typically has a bad attitude or a scheduling issue.

Fireplace inn is the perfect venue to ‘get lit’ with your peeps. And they have some dope fries. Go in Thursday’s for their half price vodka lemonades. The waiters and door security are super friendly also!

Checked out the menu and made a reservation before a show we were attending.
Was seated at our reservation time.
After looking over the menu our waiter took our order (appetizers and entrees) then came back informing us that the menu was limited because of a power failure the day before. We should have been told this at seating and we had to pick different entrees. Food took a long time and while we were waiting our waiter informed us that an accident in the kitchen was causing the delay. Never got the appetizers we ordered and the entrees were so-so.
Cannot recommend...

It took our server a little time to get to us at the beginning. But after the start he became very attentive and did a great job. We were pleasantly surprised how good the food was. The barbque chicken and ribs were delicious! as were the vegetables and special lemonade!

Decided to try FPI after a two decade hiatus. Food was decent and sitting on the small front sidewalk patio seemed cozy. Then, our waitress came to the table and the evening went straight downhill. Some of worst service I've ever had (left that on my credit card receipt). She spent most of the evening at the table next to us with what appeared to be an off-duty fellow waitress and her boyfriend. Spent at least ten minutes holding their dog. Really? Scratch this one off of the sit down list and add it to the take out or Uber eats list.

Very crowded w/ lots of background noise for a Thursday night, too much noise for our party to be able to hear each other.
Our waiter was very helpful in encouraging a nearby, loud & roudy party to leave the premises.
Very good ribs & attentive service

The photo on the website is a bit misleading as it suggests a more subdued atmosphere. The wait staff was marginal and a young man bringing soup to our table nearly dumped it on my wife. If you're looking for a sports bar atmosphere, it's OK. If you're looking for a good steak, try elsewhere.

Good place to hangout with friends. Great menu to pair with craft beers especially. Service that day was ok, could have been better. However have been there before where the service was great. Good place for friends to get together, recommended for sure.

Used to be good but the food has seriously declined.
There was no season to the frys the steak or the chicken. The brisket sandwich had so much BBQ sauce on it it was swimming and the bun was soggy.

Used to frequent here but wil not be back.

The Fireplace Inn has always been one of my favorite spots to dine before going to a show at Zanies or Second City. I hadn't been there in a while and was dismayed to see how much it's changed. First of all THERE IS NO FIREPLACE anymore so maybe they should change the name. What once was the namesake and centerpiece of this neighborhood establishment is gone, replaced with another bar. It's also, apparently, more of a sports bar these days and any semblance of style and good taste has been replaced by wait staff in gym shoes that are annoyed when you ask for a menu that's not covered in bbq sauce and wrapped in a ziplock bag. The ribs and the pulled pork are still delicious but noise from the annexed bar spills over into the dining room that's crowded and a little to bright. It was sad the bewilderment of some of the older regulars that came in to enjoy a quiet meal and had to shout amongst all the chaos.
