My friend and I ate family style, sharing the cauliflower, romaine salad, meatballs, and a ragu pasta dish. It was all delicious and the service was attentive, but not overbearing. We'll be going back!
Been here multiple times for the Hanger steak which is normally amazing beyond belief. This time it was incredibly tough and hard to eat. Staff is almost always incredibly friendly. Once in a while, there's always that kitchen guy who likes to look at the ladies a little too long but that's a kitchen guy for you lol.
the food and service was very good. The menu changes with the seasons.
Went with my kids. They loved the food, even thought it wasn’t “kid food,” which made me really happy. I loved the flavorful vegetarian options. Will definitely be back!!
I can ALWAYS count on having a memorable, spectacular meal. But remember to call for reservations, so you won't have to wait or be disappointed!
really good ambience and easy to talk. clams were delicious and all the food was good. i'll be back
The food was very good but the seating was tight. Sure, I was looking for an intimate destination, but I was not intending it to be with the strangers next to me.
This was our 2nd visit. Had a nice conversation with the couple at the next table. We each ordered one of the March Restaurant specials offered - which worked because we always eat 'family style' and tried everything that came with each of the 3 course meals. WOW! Very nice cocktails as well. Good pictures on the wall of the history of the building. The wait staff were in the groove.
Thanks for a great dinner!
We stopped in before a concert. They accommodated a quick service with great food, I wish it were more convenient for us to return, I would definitely make it a regular for me.
We arrived in time to have a variety of happy hour items. I think we probably ordered all of the items on the menu and they competed to be most delicious!
Great food and dining experience for a Birthday celebration with friends.
An old standby for me and the Mrs. Great ambience, authentic & reliable dishes, and wonderful craft cocktails. I'm not a wine drinker most of the time, but I'm sure I'd be even more enthusiastic if I were. Thanks again, guys, for a great dining experience!
Very informed and courteous wait staff. Loved the food - tasted authentic Italian. Will not hesitate to dine at Firehouse again.
Had hanger steak and beef brisket pasta. Both very good. The faux Caesar Salad is great. Space between tables is lacking. No privacy.
The food came so fast that we were served and done with the bill in under 40 mins.. which was a little short for our date night.. but was nice
We didn’t get our open table points for this restaurant.
Beautiful location in the old Dekum St. Firehouse. Décor was cozy and fun and the food was delicious! Meatballs were the best we've had and the wood fired margherita pizza was excellent! Wish we lived closer so we could dine there more often!
We tried The Firehouse Restaurant for the first time with the Portland Dining Month special menu/pricing. We were also able to take advantage of the happy hour drink pricing between 5 and 6. Every morsel of food was divine, and the service was wonderful. The special menu allowed for two choices for the entree and appetizer, which not many do. Both the cavatelli pasta dish and the pizza were outstanding. The Italian olive oil cake was so good. We added the steamed clam appetizer, which was also to die for, though we didn't need all that food! The restaurant is about 20 minutes north of us, with lots of options we like closer, but we will definitely make the trip to eat here again and again. Can't wait to try the patio in the summer!
As delicious as always. The new pot de creme was disappointing...we so enjoyed the previous version with caramel, nuts and whip cream. Everything else was SO GOOD!
The Firehouse is in my neighborhood, but I hadn't been in years. We requested to sit at the bar which only has 4 chairs and we were gladly saved two spot. Bartender and staff we're warm and friendly. Since it's an open kitchen, we enjoyed seeing the dishes prepared. And even though our food was delicious, we were salivating at the beautiful and plentiful dishes assembled. Everything about our dinner at Firehouse was exceptional.
First time here and I ordered from the Portland dining menu. I really enjoyed The bruschetta and cavatelli. We also ordered wood-oven baked meatballs and a pepperoni pizza. Everything was very delicious. Would definitely come back!
We went because it was close to a concert venue, and sounded interesting. What a treat. Our food was incredible, from the roasted cauliflower, to the really great salad, to a phenomenal pasta and a perfect pizza. Our server, Luna, was sweet, efficient, and had a wicked sense of humor. We loved her!
We will be back very soon.
One of my favorite restaurants! The server was so well versed in recommending vegan and gluten free options, and very professional yet easy going and genuine. The food is always fabulous! Two of us ordered the wood fired pizza, delicious blend of flavors and perfectly browned crust. My swordfish was cooked to perfection. The Coat and Tails cocktail is fabulous!
Hostess had attitude when being seated regarding asking for a different table. She said the table we asked for was going to turn into a 4 person table, while we there it remained a two person table.
Portions were extremely small for the size of an entree and very $$.food was just okay...
First visit and it was wonderful. Our server was awesome and the food was delicious! We took our server's suggestion and ordered family style, which was perfect. With definitely be back.
The selection was fresh but with some of the good stand bys they have always had. Food was excellent and the staff was helpful and friendly.
I love coming here. The menu seems to slowly evolve, favorites lingering, new things popping up. I'm never disappointed. And the wait staff is always great. Love the pizzas. Love the chicken. The cauliflower! The ambiance. Solid.
Awesome experience overall. Food is delicious and noticeably prepared to order. I recommend making a reservation.
We have always enjoyed the food here. It is tasty and there is a good selection of menu items. Cocktails are great, too. Servers are friendly, knowledgeable , and accommodating. It is cozy in the winter and fun in the summer when the doors are open.
Excellent food, enjoyable ambiance, sweet staff! The pork chop was melt in your mouth delicious and the chocolate fudge cake was decadent.
Service and food were excellent.
I love this restaurant. Service was excellent, friendly, fast, knowledgeable. Menu variety short but plenty to satisfy your needs no matter the occasion. Pizza, Chicken, Fish, Beef. High quality food without breaking the bank. I love the ambience. Music in the back round and not so noisy as to be hard to carry on a conversation without shouting.
Friends from out of town visiting, they were late getting us to our table, we arrived 10 minutes early. The hostess just had a surly attitude & was generally unpleasant, she needs a job that doesn’t include dealing with customers.
Our server and meals were fantastic!!
So good and underrated.
We especially liked the friendly servers, all of them! Pizza was great - the thin crust is much appreciated!
I wanted to like it so much! It's close to where I live and would be an easy place to grab dinner, but the food was just middling, although we enjoyed the wine selection. The artichoke was grilled and smokey, obscuring the delicate flavor. The pot de creme was like glue. There was hardly anyone in the place on Wednesday evening which makes me think I'm not the only one giving a bad review.
Has been one of favorite places for years, always great food.
Pros: service was great, awesome wine selection, and lovely neighborhood. Cons: pizza is overpriced and wasn't that great. Crust was more gummy than chewy and it was almost room temperature.
Pizza was better than ever, especially if you skip the olive oil on top. The chicken dish had great flavor and was well cooked but where were the gnocchi and chard sides? There were only like 2 bites. Should go back to the old plating system and restore the sides!!!!
Really, really good Neopolitan pizza. The only other item we had was the fried cauli which was delicious as well. Would highly recommend if you are looking some high quality, really delicious pizza.
