Best meatballs in town, IMHO. The salmon was terrific, as were the desserts (doughnuts and chocolate mousse.) We were there on a Tuesday night and it was very quiet - perfect for our business dinner.

This used to be one of our favorites. With the ownership change has come a decrease in quality and originality, sadly. It’s not bad, but it isn’t what it used to be.

It's been years since outlast visit to the Firehouse. They are still as good as we remembered. After being seated and looking at the menu, we decided that 2 small plates and a pizza would make for a great dinner. BUT it was so hard to choose the 2 small plates... we've had the meatballs before and the fried cauliflower is a must order. After some pondering we opted for the fried cauliflower and the iron skillet mussels and chose to split a kale salad. Our choice of pizza was simple, fennel sausage. All of the food came out as expected and the table service was excellent. The feel of the Firehouse was warm and comfy. There was noise from the kitchen action, but it was not so loud that it required a raised voice in order to hear one another in conversation. We finished off with dessert... zeppole with chocolate ice cream... nummy.

Always grateful when we pick the firehouse, service is always over the top. Most times when I revisit a restaurant there is always one thing I look forward to ordering... at the firehouse it’s always hard to decide which wonderful thing I am going to order this time.

It had been years since I'd been to Firehouse. I didn't remember having an amazing experience there years ago, but on a Friday night with no plans and openings on Open Table, I figured I'd give it a shot.

The restaurant was busy and we were seated in a corner. We were initially delighted to have our starters come out so fast (we were starving) - even before our wine came out (we ordered a bottle of Mouvedre that I love). Our waiter came with the bottle and poured and I immediately knew something was off - the wine tasted sour and acidic. The waiter exclaimed it must be a bad bottle but didn't offer to bring a second. It was a bit awkward really. The food was ok, but the whole experience was just sort of....off.

We would definitely go back. Good service from start to finish. We were seated upon arrival. Our wait person did a good job explaining the food choices on the menu. We all ordered something different and we all were pleased with our choices. The meatballs were delicious.

This restaurant has recently gained a high rating from the local newspaper for "best pizza in Portland". Tghs is our third visit and each time the pizza has been top notch. This visit was even better than the past. The romaine salad and margherita pizza are homeruns.

The food was so incredibly delicious! We ordered the artichoke as an appetizer- amazing. I got the hangar steak and my husband got the salmon. We were both very happy with our meal. I have been to firehouse 4 times and gotten the hangar steak each time. Each time it is slightly different from the previous time so I never feel like I am ordering the same thing. For dessert we got the ricotta doughnuts. I have never tasted a doughnut that delicious. We shared the plate but wished we each had our own!! Come to firehouse, you will not be disappointed.

We made it in time for a lovely happy hour outside as the sun set. We ordered one of everything except the salami pizza. Cauliflower was fantastic and the meatballs are still as amazing as the first time we had them a year ago. This was our first time getting a pizza and the margherita hit the spot, including excellent crust that wasn't tough or too done. Yum! Wish this was a little closer to home so we could go more often.

I love the Firehouse, food is always great with many items cooked in the wood burning oven. Drinks are also great. I also love the authentic vintage atmosphere. My only gripe is with the price of ala carte entrees. I don't think a pork chop (even a great one like at the Firehouse) with only a sauce and no sides should cost $28.00. I will undoubtedly still eat there since it's my only gripe, but...could there be a simple vegetable on the side to round it out?

Firehouse continues to be our favorite restaurant. We have a favorite options but like to change from time to time for variety. Our favorite waitress was working a private party upstairs but stopped by to wish us well for our anniversary!

Unfortunately we did not have a good experience. I have always loved the Firehouse but this night was a very bad restaurant experience. There were six of us. We all ordered two things. I was served my salad and my entree within 10 mins or so of ordering. Several of my friends also got their salads at that time. And then we sat. And sat. And sat. I tried to get the waitress's attention but to no avail. I tried to eat my entree slowly. End is story is that it was over an hour before the other five got their entrees. One couple had ordered both mussels and pizza to share. Those were brought together at the end. So while I had both my salad and entree at the very beginning of the meal, they had nothing to eat for over an hour. It actually was a horrible experience and I do not understand why this happened. Our waitress did not fess up nor did she apologize.

Seems like the service here has gone down. My wife and I had our wedding reception at the Firehouse 3 years ago and we have returned every year for the cauliflower and meatballs. Not only did the waitress not understand our question "What flavor soda's do you have?" The cauliflower was cold and the meatballs were so spicy I could not eat them.

Aside from the decline is service over these past few years, I would hope the had A/C, served cold water or that we would have been given the option to site outside at one of the three open tables. We did have a reservation, and were seated promptly.

Not quite sure if it was the management or staff but the food was not as good and the way the customer is treated is very different in a negative way from previous visits. I would not recommend Firehouse to anyone nor will I be returning. There are so many other choices in Portland where the customers are treated much better and more fairly. It's too bad, I always liked this place and was the one who chose it for this get together with a friend. I felt terrible with my experience this visit.

The Fire House Restaurant has great fare and is in an amazing historic building. What a wonderful way to honor Portland's history than repurposing this building into a fine restaurant.

I really enjoyed our meal. Waitstaff were helpful and attentive. We ate outside which was lovely. Appetizers and desserts were highlights. Main dishes good but did not impress as much. Pizza tasty but so wet the crust was quickly soggy. I've been here before. Always enjoy myself.
