Firehouse No. 1 Gastropub
From succulent pork belly sliders to house made paté on our charcuterie plate and an incredible house-made burger - this is not typical bar food. Paired with hand-made cocktails, exclusive craft beers, and superb wines - Firehouse No. 1 Gastropub offers an experience unlike any other bar. Located in downtown San Jose in San Pedro Square
Firehouse is worth the trip downtown. The food is fantastic. The steaks are grilled, not over cooked and very flavorful. Food keeps me coming. The place is very small and I will always recommend a reservation. Noise level is not desirable, but the food makes up for it.
Excellent food and service. We had reservations which had us seated right away. Very casual restaurant but the food provides great value. We sat outside in a beautiful day.
Great pub but very noisy, the food was very good and server Alex was awesome!
Great food and drinks. Service was slow and waitress was MIA most of the time
Great drinks and food!
We had a big party and it was reasonably priced
The service was great. My steak was way over cooked.
Fun atmosphere. Hand-crafted cocktails were tasty and food was excellent. Nice balanced menu with something for everyone. Wait staff worked as a team to ensure you had great service and a good time. We will be back.
The food was great but we were basically forgotten by our waiter and met every other staff member and watched huge parties who came in after us leave before us.
Good food! Good service at first- but then we waited a while for the server to circle back around to ask for the check. Also, the patio faces the street so there is a lot of traffic, and worse, SMOKERS stand right there so you’re eating with smoke blowing in your face.
My first time here. I was impressed. Server was great, food was good. Atmosphere was a little chaotic. Overall good experience. I will come back. I recommend this restaurant.
Bartender was knowledgeable, our servers was very pleasant. Overall we had a good experience.
Great food, great service, perfect location!
Six of us had an early dinner there before the Sharks game. Timing was perfect, we had a 4:30 reservation, which allowed us plenty of time before 7:30 puck drop. There was plenty of comfortable seating for all of us, no crowding at all. In our group there were a variety of menu choices: cheeseburger, salmon, angry shrimp and roasted chicken. All of us enjoyed our yummy meal. Definitely will go back.
Great food and service, everything I ate was very good can't wait to go back again.
Steak was delicious and atmosphere always top-notch! Service is always impeccable, too!
Service was slow, orders forgotten for us and the tables around us. Food was OK but not worth the cost. I came here years ago and had a better experience but I don’t need to go back!
My wife and shared the octopus salad and a cowboy steak, the salad was terrific and the steak was cooked as requested and was very very tender. We will definitely make this one of our favorite spots to eat.
I loved the environment that was provided here. I look forward to having several more business meetings going forward.
Gastropub. Not top shelf but a pub with above average food.
Food was cold and over cooked but the staff was great.
Three of us had the plate and it was delicious! So much flavor!
Great food and service. The bison burger is to die for!!!
Amazing menu and frankly much better than I expected. Definitely a place to celebrate a special occassion
The food was excellent as was the service. The waiter was knowledgeable about it the wines and the beer. It wasn’t too busy due to the Sharks game starting when we got there. Paneling was easy in the garage across the street. The only thing that could have been better was the dessert selection that night as there were nuts in two of the three and the last, cheesecake, didn’t have chocolate. We would definitely go back. The bison burger was really good as was the beet salad and calamari.
Food was amazing, and service was great.
Food was great but too loud. Have to shout to be heard on conversations. We ordered steak but not given steak knives.
Great place! Food was delicious, the charred Octopus was outstanding and a must try. We ate there prior to attending a concert at the SAP center. I’d definitely recommend this Gastropub and will be returning.
Excellent food and drinks. Mitch, our bartender served some of the tastiest mixed drinks we have ever had. The food was clean-the-plate worthy and combined down-home flavor with little tweaks that really set it off. Service was excellent all-around as well. Our only issue was the size of the location made it a little awkward and cramped during the dining portion of our evening.
Great place for a good bear and great food. not just burgers and ribs :)
Good but menu is small
And hasn’t changed in ages. Need some new menu items.
We love coming here weekdays early before the game. Food is dependable, tasty and generally very quick from order to serving. But the special part are the servers. They get to know you and their patrons are important to them. At Firehouse, Jennifer stands out and we try to sit in her section or steal her away on not-to-busy nights. We look for this in special places. So we will keep coming back.
We had horrible service even with a reservation. Got sat by the bathroom too....yuck!
We ate here New Year's Eve. Food was delicious. The "small plates" are quite sizable and the salmon was cooked perfectly. Those in the group who had steaks also commented on the great flavor. We had two kids in tow and they are not really set up for kids but they did accommodate menu adjustments to fit the younger ones limited tastes by making the mac n cheese more simply and serving fries with the steak. Wine list was good, beer good. Wait staff was attentive and not overbearing.
The Mac n Cheese is DELICIOUS!!! The atmosphere is great! Cool spot
Good food. Great bartenders. Casual comfortable spot to hang out for a drink and to to eat.
We loved the selections on the menu. The large dinning tables and ambiance is great for groups, sports viewing, and fun night out with friends. Can get busy after events.
We were looking for a restaurant in downtown San Jose and had walked by this place a few times so we thought we'd try it out. It was FANTASTIC. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Service was prompt and attentive. My wife had the bison burger and rated it one of the "top five" burgers ever. My daughter had the beef burger and it was also very good. My son and I tried the fire shrimp which was also good - though I would recommend it as a large appetizer. I had the pork chop - recommended by our server over one of the steaks - and it was one of the best chops I've had, meaty and moist with an excellent sauce (with bacon). They had only one dessert but it was a terrific white chocolate and raspberry cheesecake. Large selection of beers and a full bar. Only caveat is that it can get a bit loud if there's a large party in the house as it is not a big restaurant. We'll be back...soon. Nice that we have such a great restaurant in San Jose.
Poor service. Out of the first 4 drinks my party ordered. Staff disappeared.
Great food and service! Been here a few time and look forward to the next time!
