From succulent pork belly sliders to house made paté on our charcuterie plate and an incredible house-made burger - this is not typical bar food. Paired with hand-made cocktails, exclusive craft beers, and superb wines - Firehouse No. 1 Gastropub offers an experience unlike any other bar. Located in downtown San Jose in San Pedro Square
Not particularly remarkable menu, but each item I’ve ordered on two separate visits was done quite well.
Would prefer to see a more varied menu, but they do a good job
Great service, great food. Porkchop was tasty and bar service was quick. Thank you!
Great place! Loved the small plates - had angry shrimp which was spicy and Mac & cheese, which was delicious.
Seated the minute we walked in the door!! Amazing food, awesome cocktails...beautiful ambiance! Right downtown in the middle of the excitement!! My husband and always order something different and swap plates...tiger prawns and the urban cowboy were our choices and we scored!!!
I took my girlfriend to a date here it was both of our first time visiting we were greater with great service and great food my only complain was it’s a bit on the pricier end but over had a great visit would recommend
Nice food and great bar!
We arrived a bit early, but were seated within 10 minutes. Food was great. Service was attentive, but busy as it was prior to a Sharks game. We will definitely return.
Perfect place to chill and eat! Pork chop all the way!
In our party we had several different dishes. The small plates really aren't very small. I had the special ribs which were excellent. A nice tangy sauce on perfectly cooked (fall of the bone but not dry) pork. The sea bass special was also great with a nice sauce.
Very delicious burger. Fiery shrimp also delicious. But the STAR of the meal were the grits!!! Spicy and creamy and rich... the grits cane with the shrimp and were a fabulous surprise!!! Will definitely go again. That’s my highest praise!
Excellent food and great atmosphere for hanging out
I arranged for a team meeting/lunch on your site at the Firehouse No. 1. I was looking forward to trying the location out. Your site set the appointment for 11;45am and even had an option for 11;30am. I arrived at the location at 11;30am to find it closed and the opening time, '4pm' clearly posted and could be seen from the street. Luckily, the Old Spaghetti Factory was open and we were able to have the meeting. I would love to recommend Firehouse No. 1 but if your site doesn't have the correct hours of operation for these establishments, I highly doubt I would recommend or use Open Table. This is unacceptable and hope you fix it.
Great burgers and fries. Not wild about the shrimp dish. Not quite what was described. Otherwise, had a nice dinner, great service and would go again.
Great meals and service. Very noisy though. Feels a little shabby, like it needs a do over.
staff was less than friendly.
tap water tasted and smelled dirty.
Wait staff and hostess were less than helpful.
Menu was insulting
I have been to the Firehouse quite often and they MUST get a coffe pot or an expresso machine! They are using pods and at least 3 times this year they have had NO coffee!
The food is amazing, and while it’s tight quarters in there and Can be quite noisy the food is just so good that a simple review won’t do it -go try it yourself
The staff was great and accommodating. The food was delicious.
They didn"t have Coffee! Bring back the NHL Directv hockey package back!
Pleasantly surprised by everything! Close to airport and open until 12am is a big plus when picking up travelers. Food was exceptionally delicious! Service and servers were warm and friendly even though understaffed. Love this place! We are planning future visits and for sure taking others and telling others about this place. You may need to expand😉
This is the second time we have been here...and probably the last. They have a bit of an identity crisis - pub or restaurant? They don’t have enough variety of beers on draft to be a great pub, and their service has along way to go for them to be a restaurant. The beers they have are good (as long as you want an IPA). The food is very good. They are friendly, they try hard, but, for me anyway, they are not great at either style.
We sat outside and my business partner got knocked frequently while trying to eat. Space needs to be more organized outside. No one seemed to care. So we moved things around.
The bone marrow dish was delicious. I plan to come back for more.
My daughter and I were here several years ago and enjoyed our meal a lot. I went back last night with my husband and was not disappointed. Good service, great food and creative drinks. Would definitely go back again.
I got the Bison burger and added blue cheese. The meat was good, bun was store bought and they gave me 5 onion rings. It was more of an appetizer than a meal and I ended up getting a chicken quesadilla from Chipotle because I was still hungry.
With so many downtown choices, I would probably not recommend this place. Food was good, not fantastic or anything. Two major errors on our group's order & overall service was really bad. Waiter finally came by and when I tried to order a glass of wine off the happy hour, he said happy hour was over. This was at 5:31pm, Happy Hour ended at 5:30pm. So maybe if he paid attention to us for the 20 minutes prior, or told us when he delivered the first round when happy hour ended...that would have been nice. Sadly we will not be returning.
The bacon mac and cheese was amazing but the service was pretty terrible. We wanted to order more food but our original waiter never came back to our table and we ran out of time before our show time.
Service was friendly, and they rushed to get our order before “happy hour” ended. However, they were out of the specific item that had been recommended to us. We had to rethink our order and it was difficult getting their attention again.
Because it was such a hot day, I reserved an outside table. Unfortunately, there were a few show offs revving their cars and squealing tires. For me, this was not a problem, but it may be for others. The food was excellent, the service was great, and our waitress was very professional and personable. If you are craving a burger, which we were, I would highly recommend the traditional one. This was my first time at the Firehouse No. 1 Gastropub, and I will definitely come back! Reservations are very advisable.
Drinks, food and service pretty mediocre.
Went before a Sunday night concert at SAP. Definitely needed a reservation. The food came out very quickly and was delicious. My only complaint is that it was really warm inside the restaurant. On a warm summer night, A/C would’ve been good, as there were no available seats outside. Other than that, a great place.
The bartender was terrible. Took us 25 minutes to get 3 drinks. Don’t quite understand as there was hardly anyone there. The waiter was accommodating and apologized. Food was ok. Nothing special. I won’t be back
Place is a bar with some high top seats and outdoor seating, loud but good food
Hamburgers used to be spectacular. Last two visits it was just fine - good but nothing special.
Very fun , good food good wine good service would come back
We enjoy Firehouse Gastropub for its variety of dishes. The spinach salad is delicious and could make a light meal. We have also enjoyed the chicken breast, pork chop and cheeseburger. They have a good variety of drinks including beer and wine. The service has always been friendly. We usually bring our dog so we sit outside.
Their medium rare steak is almost well done.
This would have been a five star if it wasn’t for a comment that a waiter made after we spent $$ on a meal inside and took out wine outdoors to finish. He rudely said “check with the seater inside first” and walked out. Umm, we did! Also sitting outside to eat when stuff is falling out of the trees above doesn’t work . We had to move inside. Our food was great and our waiters indoor were great!
We sat outside for Father's Day so it was reasonably quiet, aside from the random car/loud scooter riders. 2 of us had the pork chop which was incredibly delicious and thick. The others had salads (beet & spinach) that they enjoyed along with a couple different small plates. The beers were amazing and Levi was an amazing server. He was professional yet fun.
