Firehouse No. 1 Gastropub
From succulent pork belly sliders to house made paté on our charcuterie plate and an incredible house-made burger - this is not typical bar food. Paired with hand-made cocktails, exclusive craft beers, and superb wines - Firehouse No. 1 Gastropub offers an experience unlike any other bar. Located in downtown San Jose in San Pedro Square
They didn"t have Coffee! Bring back the NHL Directv hockey package back!
Pleasantly surprised by everything! Close to airport and open until 12am is a big plus when picking up travelers. Food was exceptionally delicious! Service and servers were warm and friendly even though understaffed. Love this place! We are planning future visits and for sure taking others and telling others about this place. You may need to expand😉
This is the second time we have been here...and probably the last. They have a bit of an identity crisis - pub or restaurant? They don’t have enough variety of beers on draft to be a great pub, and their service has along way to go for them to be a restaurant. The beers they have are good (as long as you want an IPA). The food is very good. They are friendly, they try hard, but, for me anyway, they are not great at either style.
We sat outside and my business partner got knocked frequently while trying to eat. Space needs to be more organized outside. No one seemed to care. So we moved things around.
The bone marrow dish was delicious. I plan to come back for more.
My daughter and I were here several years ago and enjoyed our meal a lot. I went back last night with my husband and was not disappointed. Good service, great food and creative drinks. Would definitely go back again.
I got the Bison burger and added blue cheese. The meat was good, bun was store bought and they gave me 5 onion rings. It was more of an appetizer than a meal and I ended up getting a chicken quesadilla from Chipotle because I was still hungry.
With so many downtown choices, I would probably not recommend this place. Food was good, not fantastic or anything. Two major errors on our group's order & overall service was really bad. Waiter finally came by and when I tried to order a glass of wine off the happy hour, he said happy hour was over. This was at 5:31pm, Happy Hour ended at 5:30pm. So maybe if he paid attention to us for the 20 minutes prior, or told us when he delivered the first round when happy hour ended...that would have been nice. Sadly we will not be returning.
The bacon mac and cheese was amazing but the service was pretty terrible. We wanted to order more food but our original waiter never came back to our table and we ran out of time before our show time.
Service was friendly, and they rushed to get our order before “happy hour” ended. However, they were out of the specific item that had been recommended to us. We had to rethink our order and it was difficult getting their attention again.
Because it was such a hot day, I reserved an outside table. Unfortunately, there were a few show offs revving their cars and squealing tires. For me, this was not a problem, but it may be for others. The food was excellent, the service was great, and our waitress was very professional and personable. If you are craving a burger, which we were, I would highly recommend the traditional one. This was my first time at the Firehouse No. 1 Gastropub, and I will definitely come back! Reservations are very advisable.
Drinks, food and service pretty mediocre.
Went before a Sunday night concert at SAP. Definitely needed a reservation. The food came out very quickly and was delicious. My only complaint is that it was really warm inside the restaurant. On a warm summer night, A/C would’ve been good, as there were no available seats outside. Other than that, a great place.
The bartender was terrible. Took us 25 minutes to get 3 drinks. Don’t quite understand as there was hardly anyone there. The waiter was accommodating and apologized. Food was ok. Nothing special. I won’t be back
Place is a bar with some high top seats and outdoor seating, loud but good food
Hamburgers used to be spectacular. Last two visits it was just fine - good but nothing special.
Very fun , good food good wine good service would come back
We enjoy Firehouse Gastropub for its variety of dishes. The spinach salad is delicious and could make a light meal. We have also enjoyed the chicken breast, pork chop and cheeseburger. They have a good variety of drinks including beer and wine. The service has always been friendly. We usually bring our dog so we sit outside.
Their medium rare steak is almost well done.
This would have been a five star if it wasn’t for a comment that a waiter made after we spent $$ on a meal inside and took out wine outdoors to finish. He rudely said “check with the seater inside first” and walked out. Umm, we did! Also sitting outside to eat when stuff is falling out of the trees above doesn’t work . We had to move inside. Our food was great and our waiters indoor were great!
We sat outside for Father's Day so it was reasonably quiet, aside from the random car/loud scooter riders. 2 of us had the pork chop which was incredibly delicious and thick. The others had salads (beet & spinach) that they enjoyed along with a couple different small plates. The beers were amazing and Levi was an amazing server. He was professional yet fun.
Awesome food, great service 😊. Fun atmosphere for Sunday afternoon.
Terrible service , terrible food, terrible noise level ! We waited an hour to get our drink order - sooo dumb especially with a million restaurants to chose from the whole experience was just gross incluthecfood 👎🏻 No thanks never again so dumb
Elevated Pub food and noisy if that’s what you are looking for
In the <two weeks separating our visits, the food prep was wildly different. Our server was forgetful. And in the past several months, we’ve noticed the wine list has been greatly reduced. I love the octopus, but the last preparation was charred and dried out, and everyone’s food on the table was generally overcooked, which our server should’ve spotted at a glance. I still love coming here and am hopeful this was an aberration, but I don’t know that I could get my friends or my partner to come again, which disappoints me.
The servers and service was great. The chicken sandwich was amazing. Everyone at our table enjoy their foodThe problem was the noise level actually my ears are ringing for 40 minutes after. And I’m not sensitive that type a thing ever. Next time we’ll go we’ll sit outside. And maybe having a few more servers would help but the ones that were there did a great job trying to cover everything.
Very good service and the food was nice.
Great food, and great service. Bora was outstanding. I will be back.
Good place for groups and even better for meeting before events at the SAP Center.
Tight space that can get noisy. To be fair I visited during a playoff game. So many television screens the atmosphere is more sports bar than Gastropub. Food was generally good the burger was juicy and cooked to order, but the bun did not hold up. Seems like a great bar with a mixologist of note. Probably best suited for viewing parties or a group nite out.
We had burgers and salmon which were both fine. Nothing spectacular but an easy meal after an event at the Center for Performing Arts. Service was a bit slow tho and the place wasn't even busy.
Great food and service!
Firehouse is no.1 in my book for great food, service and fun all the way around. Great place to enjoy with friends and family.
Firehouse is worth the trip downtown. The food is fantastic. The steaks are grilled, not over cooked and very flavorful. Food keeps me coming. The place is very small and I will always recommend a reservation. Noise level is not desirable, but the food makes up for it.
Excellent food and service. We had reservations which had us seated right away. Very casual restaurant but the food provides great value. We sat outside in a beautiful day.
Great pub but very noisy, the food was very good and server Alex was awesome!
Great food and drinks. Service was slow and waitress was MIA most of the time
Great drinks and food!
We had a big party and it was reasonably priced
