Our group enjoyed their experience. Food was full of awesome flavors. Returning to this restaurant is a must.
The definition of dysphoria is the opposite of euphoria. Firefly starts off as such a cool venue, it seems like it could be a euphoric experience. Little hidden entrance, dark inside like a cross between a library and a speakeasy. But dysphoria sets in quickly. Despite arriving shortly after 6, and the room being half empty, our appetizers (pea soup and shishito peppers) took 45 minutes to arrive. After we were more than done with them, we had to inquire whether our next course would be arriving anytime soon. Despite being waited on by three different servers, and witnessing another customer going off on a floor manager after waiting two hours for his table’s meals, one of our many servers came along and brought out our mains in two widely spaced installments. The medium rare skirt steak was charcoal on the outside, sashimi rate in the inside, basically inedible. Our server apologized and told us she would comp us two glasses of wine, but charged us for them anyway, then argued with us when we brought this to her attention. On our way out, we mentioned our dysphoric experience to the maitre d’de, who explained that “there was no chef tonight.” Yup. Why would he want to work there? Never again.
My wife and I went to Firefly for our anniversary and it did not disappoint!
The food was great. I had the filet mignon and my wife had the wild boar pasta. Both were great! This restaurant is a little pricey but for a special occasion it was fantastic. The atmosphere was also very romantic. The outdoor seating is under a A frame roof but still feels like you're outside.
It was loud but we actually enjoy that- it gives more privacy at your table imo.
Lovely evening. A few minor mix ups with the order but overall great.
I’ve been to Firefly before but have never experienced what I did this past time. I made a late dinner reservation for my gf and I as she had never been there before. We were not sat until 1 hour after our reservation time. The staff was friendly and apologetic about this, but all they did to remedy the situation was offer us a free glass of champagne. For the money I spent there, I expected a lot more. Pretty disappointing.
I had an 8.30 reservation for 2. We were told “a few more minutes....people are finishing up now” about 4 times. Then the host said “yeah I’m sorry but I am going on my break now”. The “manager spent 10 minutes on his iPad, then sat 2 more tables before us. Offered us a glass of champagne because it would be a “few more minutes”
After a 45 minute wait we left. Thanks for the crappy service. At least I didn’t have to pay an overpriced bill.
Firefly is perfect!! Love this place; the atmosphere, food, and service is top notch!
Love this place. Went for our anniversary of our first date, which was at Firelfy 9 years ago. Food was outstanding, however barely any seafood in the seafood pasta. One small shrimp, one small calamari ring, one small scallop... for $36. The flavor, was incredible, and I would love to have it again, but throw in at least one more of each for that price point.
What a great restaurant, every dish is adsolutely Delicious
the staff are very friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back soon!
Atmosphere was busy, stuffy and music was very loud so everybody have to talk loudly, the chair was hard to sit I was uncomftable to eat there , I was upseat and didn’t back there anymore.
The patio is beautiful, and if you can get one of the curtained tables around the outside it feels private while at the same time, you're in the midst of the activity. Also, the outside never gets too loud, even though it gets packed and vibrant. The food is creative and excellent all around and the service is attentive. I can't speak to the cocktails as we were drinking wine.
Everyone was so nice for my 50th birthday celebration brunch from the Host, Management and Bartender. Love the variety with brunch the food was excellent.
Food was my great our steak was almost burnt and the seafood pasta was bland in flavor and extremely overpriced for it's quality. Will not be dining at firefly again.
This is my go to place whenever I'm celebrating or when I feel like going somewhere other than the divey places I usually go. It's a little nicer than the norm -- I mostly just drink here and get apps, but this visit I had dinner and it was SOOOOOOO good. The service was AMAZING.
My husband and I went here for our anniversary. We had a wonderful time. The server was wonderful and they gave us free champagne to celebrate!
Everything was wonderful for Easter brunch! Only thing I would suggest is more comfortable seats in the garden. But overall fabulous!
Your Easter Brunch flyer was extremely misleading. You quote the price as $38 per adult and then in a separate box you show all items included in your brunch. It shows several food items and mimosas and craft bloody Mary’s. It doesn’t say anywhere on the Easter advertisement that the alcohol isn’t excluded. The way you had it in the same box as the food would conclude that it’s included in the $38 per person price. It was extremely deceiving. I won’t come back probably ever again. Too bad and really bummed about it.
Fire Fly is a hole in a wall type of place. Once you walk in you have the bar area with a lounge that looks like a library. The lights are dimmed which makes the area even more cozy. Then you walk outside to a covered area which stills feels like you are outside. You have some private cozy sections to the left, a little more open table setting in the middle and right and then their is also a bar area on the farther right. Some nights there is a DJ which is always a plus. Now to move on to food. You MUST try their crispy manzanilla Olives, such a unique appetizer and sharable item for the table. Here are a couple more sharable items, the Tuna Tartar, Shishito peppers, roasted mushrooms, and the Calamari. Main Dishes, The skirt steak and filet Mignon is great for meat lovers, I love seafood and my go to is the Lobster Pasta. Another favorite dish is the Risotto but I believe it is seasonal if I am not mistaken. Drinks! My go to drink here is the Pineapple Express, I like my drinks very cold therefore I get mine on the rocks but if you do not prefer it too cold its originally served slightly chilled which is great too! They have a full bar and make anything that you would like! The staff is great here, very friendly and helpful when your confused or can not decide on what to order. The cleanliness is great as well. Hope this review was helpful!
Food was average, at best and very expensive.
Waiter was also arrogant and rude to my teenage daughter.
Just had my anniversary with my boyfriend. This place is beautiful! Food was delicious. Service was amazing!
Took my two teenagers for dinner while on vacation. We all enjoyed the food. The waiter was super attentive and engaging with my kids. The seating wasn’t terribly comfortable and it was too loud, but overall we would all three recommend
My last visit was less than stellar, but tonight's made up for it. The filet was cooked a perfect medium and was very tender and savory. I'm not much of a calamari person, but we received as compliments from the chef and that dish was also surprisingly delightful. The cauliflower and peppers were exquisite!
So romantic inside
Hostess shared there was no seating available for dinner when we walked in. After staying in bar area we booked on open table & got a table. Bad service as it was contradicted yet we got a seat as I booked on open t
Hostess was terrible. Took a phone call after we had given her my name and reservation time .she was on the phone for 10 minutes time by my watch time. Then proceeded to take up to the second level and initially gave us a table adjacent to the stairs. We asked to be moved next to the fireplace because it was warmer. And she acted like it was an imposition even though there was no one else there. We didn’t see anyone for 15 minutes until I went to the main level and explained the situation. They said the hostess should have notified a waitress. The waitress we had was outstanding. Rectified some of the disappointment of initial interaction with the hostess. The appetizers were going. Main coarse only fair. I had the boar ragu too much carbs overwhelmed the meat. Overall disappointing. Was hoping for a good place since there are few good restaurants in studio City Burbank area and I eat out 4 days a week. Will not likely return.
Loved this place!!! I live in Malibu and decided to come here with my best friend to celebrate my birthday and I am so glad we decided to try somewhere new. Everything on the menu looked good, which made it very difficult to pick! We will certainly be back and will certainly recommend to anyone who asks for a recommendation!
I love Firefly and have been there for Birthdays and special occasions. The cocktails are great, the food is exceptional--usually. This was my first time to their new Brunch Buffet and I will say this: some of the food was great; but a lot of it was mediocre. The "house made pastries" didn't taste house made at all and were no different than what you would get at a hotel breakfast. Tried a couple of the bite sized desserts and most of them tasted the same/didn't really excite at all. If the price was lower, I'd say it's a must. The atmosphere is great, the wait staff is always terrific and the stuff that was tasty was really tasty - but you're paying for a lot of items you aren't eating. (especially vegetarians - you're being upcharged for the raw bar, carving station and charcuterie, regardless of whether you eat them). Also, it's advertised as having live jazz music, which would have made a huge difference, but all we got were some known jazz tracks playing on the stereo. So, in summation: If they add individual meals as an alternative to the buffet, came through on the jazz, and finessed some of the items, this will be an amazing brunch. For now, though, I'd say brunch elsewhere and save Firefly for special dinners, where you know everything is going to be stellar.
Normally, I would rate a place like FireFly 5stars but this was not one of them. First off, one of the hostesses gave our reservation away after just a few minutes of waiting at the bar. When we approached the check-in desk again regarding our table, after everyone else had been seated, the other hostess blurted that our table was given to another couple. She did not apologize for the mishap nor did the other hostess who gave away our seats apologize. Secondly, our waiter never introduced himself to us. This being our first time coming to this restaurant, it would’ve been nice to know his name, how much it costed to be there, and to even be offered some water. Again, we approached the front desk hostess and asked if someone was going to help us at our table. She then had to pull a waiter from the back kitchen and told him he was going to help us. You would think that an established such as FireFly would have more attentive waiters. Not once did he ask how we were doing during our entire 2hrs there.
Patio has beautiful atmosphere, romantic vibe. Good strong martinis! Food is consistently delicious.
Sadly I will report that we had early reservations (5:30) because of my knee injury and we know how it can fill up at the Hostess station. Our Hostess made us wait for 30 minutes before seating us and there was plenty of room to seat us on the patio - even in the library portion. She was disorganized and it wasn't busy yet. Our server was adorable, sweet and very very helpful - we liked her a lot. The food was ok but we were disappointed as soon as we looked at the menu because we had already decided what we would order BUT your menu had changed and was not updated so it wasn't a great menu Friday night. This is obviously a loud hang with lots of people drinking but we felt that we didn't belong from our experience at the Hostess stand and through the meal. Nevertheless, I will give big kuddos to our waitress, she was so sweet and adorable and did a great job. I think her name was Micalla - not sure of the spelling. Bring the Lamb osso boco back and we will return.
hostess didn't check us in and i was reported as no show..waiter was good, good fine
We pushed our reservation back to 830 but still attended
Great service by the staff, the cake melted however the service made up for it!
Food quality and service were excellent. Very attractive restaurant. The only negative was the noise level---ambient noise if very high, and to that they add very loud music. Makes it very difficult to hold a conversation with your dining companions. Decibel level is unfortunate since everything else about the restaurant is terrific.
The food was delicious! Theres some vegeterian options and they are very delicious.
Cool place... a little spendy.
I've been to firefly a few times but never on a Monday evening with friends. There was this super cool hipster two man music group playing very ambient music that all added to the vibe of evening. Oh....and the food is great too!
Two words: crunchie olives. So good! And it only gets better after that!
I’ve been coming here on and off for a decade and the food and drinks have always consistently been good. The menu hasn’t changed at all from what I remember . I ordered the fish on the special menu this last visit and was a little disappointed because I left still hungry. The fish came with barely any vegetable sides.
The appetizer calamari is delicious and I highly recommend that. Corking fee is $25 I believe. The chicken main dish has always consistently been good.
Perfect ambiance for a date. The food is great, but the service is awful. Hope the waitress can be nicer.
