Firefly is a wonderful neighborhood restaurant that offers a variety of healthy food and good wine.
Great dining spot near Noe Valley and Diamond Heights. Meal, service, price....all excellent!
Asparagus with Parmesan & Egg superb.
Fried Chicken? Meh.
The food is always delicious and the service is friendly. Great options for those with dietary restrictions and THE BEST FRIED CHICKEN.
Great neighborhood spot!
It was my 3rd time there; I have loved it in the past but was unfortunately underwhelmed on all accounts this time.
Good food, good wines, lovely spot, very nice staff. Would return!
We celebrated our 15th wedding anniversary here. The food was so delicious. I had the braised lamb and vegetables, hubby had seafood Moqueca. Both were prepared perfectly. The lamb was rich and the vegetables (spaetzle, turnip, carrot, pea) had a wonderful texture. The seafood was fresh, spicy and delicate. We shared a nice bottle of Pinot Noir that the server was so kind in helping us to select. The desserts were amazing--especially the creme fraiche panna cotta with meyer lemon. We had a reservation--tables are very close to one another , but the amazing food explains why they need to squeeze people in to dine. I will definitely go to Firefly again.
Delightful evening at Firefly. We drove from the east bay and were happy we did.
The food and drinks were amazing as usual with really knowledgeable and friendly staff. Can’t say enough good things about this place especially if you are on a gluten free diet. Truly a neighborhood treasure!
Great.... as usual .. our neighborhood favorite restaurant
I have reviewed this restaurant in the past. The Firefly restaurant is a neighborhood gem for us living in Noe Valley.
After not visiting this lovely neighborhood gem in years , I found out the evolution of Firefly to accommodate people with gluten allergies and veggie / vegan people . Absolutely lovely and delicious .
Always love to come back here on special occasions, or to take visitors out to one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants.
A wonderful find in the Noe Valley neighborhood in San Francisco. The nicest staff as well excellent food.
Almost all the dishes are gluten-free. Even better, they are celiac-safe, which not all GF items are. The food was delicious and it was so great not having to worry about whether the food was safe for me to eat. I will definitely be back!
This seems like a great neighborhood gem. We were on vacation and a local friend took us here for dinner. The wine list was excellent, food was great, and I enjoyed the fact that it was quiet enough that we could hear each other talk. We got the fried chicken, pork chop, and a flatbread. I noticed that every single dish seemed to have kale in it (did they get a ton in a CSA and needed to use it up?), which wasn't the most optimal for the kale haters in our group, but it's easy enough to just eat around that.
One of my colleagues has celiacs so I wanted to be extra considerate of his needs. I searched for hours to find a GF-friendly restaurant and I think Firefly hit it out of the park. Everything we ate was incredible. We tried the cauliflower flat bread and we were blown away by its flavor and crispness. I don't think you can go wrong with the fried chicken or anything for that matter.
The interior is beautiful and candle-lit. I got some great inspiration for my own home here! The ceiling is draped with fabric which adds to the soft vibes. I will definitely return the next time I am in SF. It is worth the drive to Noe and there is street parking. It is so nice to find a restaurant in the city that isn't full of tech bros drinking themselves to death on expensive, artisanal cocktails. There is so much hype in SF that Firefly is a welcome escape of authenticity and great food.
They are a little enthusiast about kale. I like kale but in moderation. And cooked.
Loved the daikon appetizer.
On the expensive side but what is not in Noe Valley?
I've been going to Firefly for about 25 years, and it's still a joy. Good food, friendly people.
I liked our food as did my companion. The wait staff was very good. Just a few issues.
Very dimly lit. We were seated near the door. It was cold outside and cold at our table. I would suggest more drink options that don't have alcohol. In a way, this restaurant was a place to drink that happened to serve food instead of the other way around.
Friends in town
Always enjoy eating at Firefly Restaurant. Friendly service, great food and wine, what’s not to like? Just wish their fried chicken and cornbread wasn’t so darn good. I’d like to one day have room to try their desserts. :D
What a gem! Was recommended to me by a dear friend, I will continue passing along this great spot. Can't wait for my return visit!
It's a local spot with a very homey and cozy atmosphere. The dishes take comfort food to the next level and leave you feeling nourished. Great spot for taking someone you care about out for a special treat.
Perfect fit for our Valentine's meal. Candlelit ambiance but not overly romantic, just right. Loved the food, wish we left room to try one of the desserts as they sounded delicious.
This was my second visit to Firefly, and I fell a little more in love. We have had the levain with yummy spread and sweet potato tostones both times and they did not disappoint. The waiters have been extremely knowledgable and on-point with wine and beer recommendations each time, and I have had some delicious and unusual offerings for wine and cider. I am vegan and my boyfriend is an omnivore, and we both have so many options to choose from. To top it off, the desserts are OUTSTANDING and they always have a vegan option. This time I had a vegan chocolate peanut butter mousse that was ridiculously good. We ate very well!
Loved the vegan choices and vibe of the restaurant.
Was on my culinary bucket list for our SF visit. When you haven’t had fried chicken in 10 years, your expectations are ridiculously high. Firefly did not disappoint! It was delicious-the chicken was so moist and flavorful and then the coating...crunchy and seasoned perfectly. I’m not a potato person, yet loved not only the potatoes but the gravy too. Cole slaw is the bomb! We all enjoyed everything out of the kitchen. Extra points for a great wine list-we love so many of the smaller wineries available. Can’t wait to go back!
One of our favorites!
Wonderful service and the best pork chop I’ve ever eaten.
Great experience all around. Super delighted with the food, the service and the ambiance. Highly recommend! Also, there were three people with celiac disease in our party and the food was amazing and yet magically gluten-free. But you'd never know. Superb!
The food was great. Our server was pretty slow.
All I can say is, EXCELLENT all the way around! Best fried chicken ever and it’s gluten-free.
We love firefly and have been going there for years. It combines excellent cuisine with the intimacy and friendliness of a neighbourhood restaurant.
The food and atmosphere was so good we lost track of time and were asked to leave our table having overstayed our welcome.
Firefly was, as always, dependably delicious, friendly, efficient, casual, and comfortable. We were seated in a window alcove which made conversation possible despite the large group in the center of the room. It is our go-to place for every day dining and when we have visitors. Always a pleasure.
I come here often and always have a good meal in a pleasant atmosphere. Molly was our server and did a fine job with us. She recommended the crab cakes and the beet salad. I was very surprised that everything on the menu is gluten free except 2 dishes. They even have a fried chicken dish that is served as a gluten free option.
Will go again.
There are numerous, delicious and filling options for vegans. The ambiance was fantastic for either a romantic date or a night with friends. Not too loud and not too quiet. Perfect for conversation!
Great food in this gem of a neighborhood restaurant. Great for everyday dining and special occasions alike.
