About Firefly Restaurant
We serve food that, more often than not, accesses that part of our deepest soul where genuine expression can flow forth. We have always tried to give our food and service our best selves, as honest and vulnerable as we can muster. We strive to be a place where you might actually have a real connection; maybe with your server, maybe with your food or maybe with your possibly dorky host who is ACTUALLY glad you’re there.
Oh, you wanted a restaurant description? Sorry. Can’t really help you there. We’re not so big on labels. Our food is hard to nail down as we are constantly evolving and entirely seasonal and personal. We’ve used “Food you eat” as a tag line on occasion and that remains accurate. We could also describe it as “Food we really want you to eat”. When you’re here, tell us what you would call it.

Firefly Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
This was my second visit to Firefly, and I fell a little more in love. We have had the levain with yummy spread and sweet potato tostones both times and they did not disappoint. The waiters have been extremely knowledgable and on-point with wine and beer recommendations each time, and I have had some delicious and unusual offerings for wine and cider. I am vegan and my boyfriend is an omnivore, and we both have so many options to choose from. To top it off, the desserts are OUTSTANDING and they always have a vegan option. This time I had a vegan chocolate peanut butter mousse that was ridiculously good. We ate very well!
Was on my culinary bucket list for our SF visit. When you haven’t had fried chicken in 10 years, your expectations are ridiculously high. Firefly did not disappoint! It was delicious-the chicken was so moist and flavorful and then the coating...crunchy and seasoned perfectly. I’m not a potato person, yet loved not only the potatoes but the gravy too. Cole slaw is the bomb! We all enjoyed everything out of the kitchen. Extra points for a great wine list-we love so many of the smaller wineries available. Can’t wait to go back!
Firefly was, as always, dependably delicious, friendly, efficient, casual, and comfortable. We were seated in a window alcove which made conversation possible despite the large group in the center of the room. It is our go-to place for every day dining and when we have visitors. Always a pleasure.
I come here often and always have a good meal in a pleasant atmosphere. Molly was our server and did a fine job with us. She recommended the crab cakes and the beet salad. I was very surprised that everything on the menu is gluten free except 2 dishes. They even have a fried chicken dish that is served as a gluten free option.
Will go again.
Amazing food in a quaint neighborhood setting. Staff was attentive. The food was unique and tasty. I’m not a Vegitarian but I ended up eating only veg dishes because they looked and tasted so good.
I come here for dates, birthdays, and special occasions, and would happily return without hesitation.
Great cozy spot for a no-fuss date night with a warm neighborhood-y feel. Plenty of gluten free options that both veg-heads and carnivores can enjoy. Food was amazing and the ambiance was great as well. Will definitely be coming back next time I'm in the city.
I've gone to Firefly many times over the years and each time, I keep hoping for more. It's a quaint restaurant in a lovely neighborhood. I want to love it but the food is just okay. Not great, not terrible. We had the crab cakes...which is actually a single crab cake...for $18. We also had the kale salad. Meh. And the pork chop. It was overcooked. The chocolate crepe dessert was delicious but couldn't make up for our disappointment over thee rest of the meal. For the price, it should be amazing. If we're going to spend $150+ for 2 people to eat, we want it to be great.
Firefly never disappoints…always good choices from an ever-changing menu with local ingredients and fresh options. Nothing goes unnoticed and the service is terrific. A complete gem that is slightly hidden, but seek this out and enjoy a delicious and appropriately priced meal. Loved the s'more for desert - just right!!
This was my third visit to Firefly over the last several years, and another "best-of" dinners in my memory. The menu is creative and accessible with many gluten-free options (which are not second-best to the other choices). My guests and I enjoyed every last bite of our meal and left happy. I love the friendly and casual, yet professional, vibe in this cozy neighborhood restaurant. Will definitely be dining here again.
