After not visiting this lovely neighborhood gem in years , I found out the evolution of Firefly to accommodate people with gluten allergies and veggie / vegan people . Absolutely lovely and delicious .
Always love to come back here on special occasions, or to take visitors out to one of our favorite neighborhood restaurants.
Almost all the dishes are gluten-free. Even better, they are celiac-safe, which not all GF items are. The food was delicious and it was so great not having to worry about whether the food was safe for me to eat. I will definitely be back!
This seems like a great neighborhood gem. We were on vacation and a local friend took us here for dinner. The wine list was excellent, food was great, and I enjoyed the fact that it was quiet enough that we could hear each other talk. We got the fried chicken, pork chop, and a flatbread. I noticed that every single dish seemed to have kale in it (did they get a ton in a CSA and needed to use it up?), which wasn't the most optimal for the kale haters in our group, but it's easy enough to just eat around that.
One of my colleagues has celiacs so I wanted to be extra considerate of his needs. I searched for hours to find a GF-friendly restaurant and I think Firefly hit it out of the park. Everything we ate was incredible. We tried the cauliflower flat bread and we were blown away by its flavor and crispness. I don't think you can go wrong with the fried chicken or anything for that matter.
The interior is beautiful and candle-lit. I got some great inspiration for my own home here! The ceiling is draped with fabric which adds to the soft vibes. I will definitely return the next time I am in SF. It is worth the drive to Noe and there is street parking. It is so nice to find a restaurant in the city that isn't full of tech bros drinking themselves to death on expensive, artisanal cocktails. There is so much hype in SF that Firefly is a welcome escape of authenticity and great food.
They are a little enthusiast about kale. I like kale but in moderation. And cooked.
Loved the daikon appetizer.
On the expensive side but what is not in Noe Valley?
I've been going to Firefly for about 25 years, and it's still a joy. Good food, friendly people.
I liked our food as did my companion. The wait staff was very good. Just a few issues.
Very dimly lit. We were seated near the door. It was cold outside and cold at our table. I would suggest more drink options that don't have alcohol. In a way, this restaurant was a place to drink that happened to serve food instead of the other way around.
Always enjoy eating at Firefly Restaurant. Friendly service, great food and wine, what’s not to like? Just wish their fried chicken and cornbread wasn’t so darn good. I’d like to one day have room to try their desserts. :D
Perfect fit for our Valentine's meal. Candlelit ambiance but not overly romantic, just right. Loved the food, wish we left room to try one of the desserts as they sounded delicious.
