Oh, you wanted a restaurant description? Sorry. Can’t really help you there. We’re not so big on labels. Our food is hard to nail down as we are constantly evolving and entirely seasonal and personal. We’ve used “Food you eat” as a tag line on occasion and that remains accurate. We could also describe it as “Food we really want you to eat”. When you’re here, tell us what you would call it.
Fried chicken was great.
Incredibly delicious food that just happens to be gluten free. We had the pork and pumpkin stew which was OUT OF THIS WORLD. Great ambiance, perfect for a date or special occasion. Love this spot!
Our 3rd time here and possibly the best. Food and service were amazing as always. Wish I could give the carrot cake 10 stars - it was so good I almost cried. Will definitely be back again!
One of my favorite restaurants in SF, for all the reasons you dine out. Food, ambiance, service, wine, ...
I have dined at Firefly a number of times over the past 20 years. I am always pleasantly reminded why Firefly has been in operation for close to 25 years. The quality of the food, menu selections, accommodations with food allergies/ sensitivities, ambiance, location and service are top notch. Id highly recommend Firefly.
Amazing as always!
What a fantastic neighborhood gem in Noe Valley! Great food & wine, service, and ambiance. And don't forget to try the desserts - highly recommended!
Wonderful dinner and great service
Would highly recommend
A cozy, warm and inviting restaurant with delicious food and friendly service. The noise level allows for conversation, a rarity these days. Highly recommend the gluten free bread, mosqueca, the fried sweet potatoes, the cauliflower flatbread to name just a few of the excellent dishes.
Love our peeps: Lydia, Jay, Molly, and Brie💕❤️💗
Excellent food, excellent service. It was very relaxed and casual -- a neighborhood restaurant suitable for a nice occasion.
I've loved Firefly for a long time, and have seen them go through changes over the years. I've never had a bad meal there, although there have been a few dishes that have not wowed me from time to time. This past time, we had a great (albeit a tad small for $12) chopped salad, and I had a beautiful salmon dish. My dining partner had the fantastic fried chicken which is always on the menu. Our desert was merely okay- a somewhat dry sticky toffee carrot cake that tasted a bit like baking powder- but desserts there are usually creative and delicious. Their staff is always warm and welcoming, and the setting is both comfy and special.
Some dishes great, others ok. Lamb main course and crab cake appetizer excellent. Service was below par the night we went. Some waiters friendly, others seemed to not be too thrilled with their job.
We love this quaint little spot that offers a wide range of vegan options. It's one of our favorite SF restaurants!
The food and ambiance were fantastic. The servers and staff were friendly and efficient. I have already recommended this place to a friend!
My favorite restaurant on 24th Street. Always delicious and interesting! Great wine list with classic and offbeat selections. Warm ambience.
Great food and Molly was so helpful with all her suggestions.
Amazing food and service
Best salmon I've ever had! Service is excellent, friendly staff. The epitome of a neighborhood gem!
Service was courteous and attentive. Sweet potato tostones were well done. All entrees (lamb stew, fried chicken and salmon) seriously lacked seasoning despite having great ingredients. The roasted root vegetables were well done. $25.00 plus entrees should be better than average. Would have passed on this place but for getting a gift certificate. This experience will not bring us back. It just misses the mark.
We come here regularly, and in over a decade of visits, there’s only been one meal that was average. The food is always phenomenal, creative, delicious. Staff are always so friendly & down to earth. This is my go to place an San Francisco
Food delicious and innovative without being precious. The staff is one in a million, the service impeccable and warm.
Love the intimacy, the great service and food - and most of all how they are so gluten allergic friendly and have gluten free fried chicken! It’s the best whether you’re gluten free or not.
We had a fabulous dinner out with friends and just loved this neighborhood gem. Our server was awesome and highly knowledgeable throughout. The food was truly unique and every dish delighted, all the way through the sticky toffee dessert. We would absolutely return no one had their face buried in their phone and there was no needless chatter about Instagram.
For the most part the food was very good with the exception of the two desserts that we tried...the carrot cake was a disappointment and the combination for the grape and cocoanut sorbet just didn't work. The ambiance was very comfortable, but the noise level was too high (especially since a member of our party was hearing impaired), and wasn't able to hear much of the conversation. The staff was excellent and very helpful. We would certainly dine there again since we live in the neighborhood and generally the food is consistently good and they have an excellent wait staff.
What happened to Firefly? It used to be our favorite restaurant, but after the second disappointing dinner there, I doubt we'd ever return. The appetizers were fabulous, and kept our expectations high for the main course dinners, but they turned out to be costly and unpalatable. I would give 5 stars for the appetizaers and one-two for the main course.
This was a gem of a find, it was our first time going there. My wife and son are gluten free and they found the gluten free fried chicken to be outstanding. I found the menu to be interesting, I enjoyed some fantastic vegetarian enchiladas. My two daughters who are not gluten free also loved the GF fried chicken. The service was impeccable. It was my wife's birthday and Firefly was everything she had hoped for.
My son just moved to Noe Valley. Found Firefly on Yelp. I was looking for a restaurant that would accommodate his vegan girlfriend. Everyone enjoyed their meals and we really like the feel of the restaurant. I would recommend to friends.
I visited with my husband and family. We really enjoyed our meal, everything was very tasty. The only negative for me was that both of the vegetarian options were very spicy and this reduced the quality of the meal for me. Also we had a round table sort of in the middle of the restaurant, which wasn't very cosy and it was a little chilly. However the food was very good and we appreciated all of the gluten free options.
This place is always a winner. One of the most consistent restaurants in San Francisco.
Food was mediocre and the service was sub par.
From moment you walk in you can tell this restaurant is special.
From the friendly, professional yet relaxed service, to the delicious food there wasn’t a single glitch.
The ambiance was warm and cozy. There was nothing fussy about the food. But still the flavors layered and the choices varied.
We had the bread and spread, fried chicken, Brussels sprouts, a delicious salad and the chocolate cake with ice cream. All GLUTEN FREE! I don’t need to eat GF but my daughter does. We both loved every bite.
We’ll no doubt be back.
Delicious food, cozy ambiance, and lovely staff. It's always our go to for a special evening.
Always excellent food and wonderful service. Highly recommend
Our second time there. Wonderful meal, including appetizers and desserts, and delightful surroundings. A little noisy, but that’s inevitable with a happy, filled dining room. BTW, the first time we ate there we sat at the bar and had a great time talking to the bar server, Lydia.
Excellent food. Friendly service. Neighborhood gem.
Food was good, I just don't understand why the music has to be turned up so loud you can't talk with or hear your dining companions. Even when I asked the music to be turned down, it wasn't enough to make much of a difference. Otherwise, nice neighborhood place, charming, tasty.
Our favorite neighborhood restaurant!
Everyone who works there is not only professional but delightful!!!!!! Fried chicken is as wonderful as we got in NC!!!!! (and gluten free). We are not vegans or gluten free but we had a wonderful dinner there!!!!!! And our family member who is both had told us that we would find something wonderful to eat!!!!!
