Firefly - Panama City Beach Ratings and Reviews
I absolutely loved Firefly. I have heard about it from friends and never been. I finally had the opportunity and I was so impressed! From the atmosphere, to the staff, to the amazing food, it couldn't have been any better! The food was so delicious and I can't wait to try something new! I had the crab cake entree and it was wonderful. The service was well-timed and friendly and waiter was very knowledgeable. I can't wait to go back!
Needs a complete overhaul. Food and decor is circa 1997. Save yourself $80 and go to one of the better chains. I had the lamb chops and they were butchered VERY poorly which made a consistent medium rare impossible. The meat and cheese board is a joke. The corn in the grouper dish is canned. I highly question the sourcing of and stated species of the fish; most especially the sushi. We were right in that you'll need to travel west about 20 miles or more to get a decent meal. We made it clear during the reservation process that there was a birthday in the party. It was never acknowledged. Seems as though they are coasting on an outdated reputation. Just don't.
The starters, salad and desert were phenomenal. The bread pudding was some of the best I have ever had and I mean that too. Service was nothing short of stellar. Main course wasn't up to par on two tries. Fish smelled fishy and peppercorn crusted stuffed filet were two raw patties with a blue cheese filling. Had this steak before and I talked about it for weeks with a full cut fillet done just right with the sauce oozing out and had this incredible peppercorn crust...not this time. Which was the anomaly? Serving smelly fish is a different deal all by itself. If my wife can smell it so can the chef, prep and server. Sorry Firefly no excuse on that. Back up was a pasta dish that was so so. When you pay $32-$34 for the main entree and al a carte for the sides instead of sunset menu, it better be up to the highest standards.
One suggestion is that seating starts at 5:00 which is pretty typical but they lock the doors until 5. I honestly have never heard of such a thing which gets the people all fired up and anxious lining up like a buffet out front. Seriously, open the doors at 4:30 and serve cocktails in the bar while they wait for the tables and staff to be ready.
I will probably come back, but driving 30 miles maybe a bit of a stretch unless I am going to PCB for something else too. Then I will have to seriously consider dropping $100 bucks on dinner and if this is the place to do it.
It was all we hoped for, having dined there in the past, it lived up to all we remember. No noise, I may have given the wrong rating there. Loved the little extras, including chilling ou. R wine...no need to ask. Have recommended this restaurant many times and hope to return soon.
The whole evening was absolutely fantastic. We asked our server Dimitrio what wine he recommended and it was delicious. The pan roasted duck was perfectly cooked and the salmon was amazing. The appetizer Sweet and Spicy Pineapple Shrimp was so good my mouth is watering even now. The cream brulee was the best brulee I've ever had in my life. The atmosphere is super classy and everything is so nice and all the staff were fantastic. I literally would dine here every night if I could.
We had friends visit for Thanksgiving and ate at Firefly on the Friday. As always, the food was delicious, the wine outstanding, and our waiter was superb-- friendly, knowledgeable, and super efficient. Firefly is our favorite restaurant in town, and absolutely one of our favorites in the country!
In PCB for vacation and reserved table here for an evening dinner with family.
We wanted to eat light so we chose sushi. The dishes were all good. We had she crab soup as a starter because we had heard so many good things about it. It was too rich for me but that’s probably just me. Dessert was creme brûlée and it was very good. Would probably visit again and just make different menu selections
My husband, our adult daughter, and I all enjoyed our dinner at Firefly. The service was excellent and the food was delicious. We enjoyed the calamari appetizer, salads and dinner.
The ambiance could be a little more unique, but otherwise we truly enjoyed our dining experience.
A very nice restaurant. We're a local couple and were celebrating a birthday. Our dinner was excellent and I highly recommend the she crab soup and the filet which was cooked perfectly. Our server was very nice and attentive. On the downside though, several minutes after we were seated, a family with two small children were seated right next to us. Very noisy and did not stay in their chairs. Perhaps management would want to consider trying to seat families with young children in the same general area so that an adult only table doesn't have to deal with the clamor. There were plenty of open tables so it really was a poor decision on the part of the hostess. It was an expensive meal and we could hardly wait to get out of there so did not partake of dessert or an after dinner drink.
We prebooked around 2 weeks in advance for a 'romantic table' for 2 to celebrate being together for 12 years. We had to wait past the time we had booked by around 15 minutes, thought no one apologised for the delay, so I guess it must be the 'norm'. When I booked the table, I had advised that one of the party was vegan so that they could plan ahead.
The starters were excellent, lovely textures, colours and flavours.
I was disappointed with my vegan main course which was 'roasted vegetables' - baby courgettes, onions, asparagus, tomatoes - that was it. I was rather underwhelmed.
My husbands main course of pork shank was amazing, the meat fell away from the bone. It was served with seasonal vegetables and cooked to perfection.
The waiter was amazing too, he couldn't have been more helpful. Nothing was too much for him, I wish we had customer service like it in the UK!
The vegan desert was homemade strawberry sorbet which just 'melted in your mouth' it was like eating fresh strawberries. My husband had the crème brulee which was equally melt in your mouth.
Overall we did enjoy the experience, and would probably go back, but I might suggest some vegan options in advance.
