Truffle fries were amazing. My husband and i both had the burger - mine GF - and it hit the spot! Very cute decor!
limited vegetarian options and not indicated on menu when not veg (like brussel sprouts had fish sauce but didn't say on menu) but they were accommodating to change
Food was subpar, three out of four of us diners agreed. Service was great.
Always visit when we are in DC
To be fair, I only ordered the appetizers. But everything was just adequate nothing spectacular. I ordered a pureed carrot soup, it was good. Could have been hotter. Also ordered an Asian green salad and roasted potatoes. that was it. The live tree and the ambiance was nice.
We really liked Firefly! The brunch menu was very tempting, with plenty of options for all of us. The server was great, attentive to our needs and friendly. The ambiance was cute, a little unusual for DC, I thought, but warm. A very pleasant experience
It was good food and I like that they use locally sourced ingredients for a farm to table experience. The only issue was half the restaurant was closed and it’s a small place so the seating was more crowded. Other than that the experience was pretty decent. Fast service and pleasant people they also accommodate food allergies.
Interesting experience--we (wife, college aged daughter and I) went to Firefly for dinner on a weekend recently. Ambiance/setting was very nice, but our experience was just not good. Waiter kept telling us he wanted us to take our time, enjoy the experience etc but we were constantly rushed. He offered to take our app order and main course, but delay the main course so we could enjoy things. We agreed. While the brie appetizer was very good (it wasn't very large)--wouldn't plan on it serving more than 3 people, we no more than took the last bite of the appetizer and our main courses arrived. It was like the server was waiting for that last bite to leave the plate--I mean I was still chewing it!
We had the risotto, scallops and rockfish special. Risotto was good. Scallops were undercooked (yes, I realize you cook them very briefly and effectively sear them) and not super warm. Rockfish special which the server raved about was good, but wasn't very warm/hot. At best, I'd give it a lukewarm, and it really was somewhat lacking in flavor.
We wrapped up the meal with the chocolate pot de creme and in typical fashion, it was served instantly and then collected the second we paused eating it. Check also rolled in immediately--whole meal was literally 35-40 minutes tops.
On top of all that--quite expensive in my book for what we got. Yes, I realize it is expensive to eat out in DC (I am there visiting quite a bit so we've eaten all over the city), but our total bill with tip as just shy of $200 (wife had one glass of wine, I had one drink).
All in all, I just wasn't happy with most any part of this meal. I wanted to like the place as it is a neat atmosphere, but don't think I will be back.
Delicious food, wonderful service! I would definitely recommend!
I was so very disappointed in Firefly this evening. I have been before and enjoyed it. This evening could not have been more different. Seated in a small room in the back with very little heat. I had to have my coat on through most of dinner. The service was deplorable. It took a minimum of 15 minutes if not more before someone asked me if I wanted a drink. No one ever came and checked to see that all was okay. When a new drink or course was served, the empty glasses and dishes were not cleared. I had to keep seeking the waitress out. We would watch her walk by and NEVER look our way. And the food ... meh. Maybe we just ordered poorly. I am still trying to figure out what the heck that risotto dish was. With all the dining options in DC, I won’t be returning here. At least not for a while. Did not feel like they cared from the moment I was seated.
In DC for Thanksgiving week. Great food! Big portions.
Great dining experience! We spent Thanksgiving away from home but this made it feel special. Thank you!
Superlative food, outstanding dessert. All our food was truly delicious
A++++ Highly recommend it highly recommended
We enjoyed Firefly for brunch. Eggs Benedict, the Scramble and the French Toast were all good and reasonably priced. Quirky spot.
Delicious food, excellent, friendly service. Love this place.
Staff was very accommodating and attentive! Food could use a tune-up. All was average but not special.
Things have changed. Used to be a good restaurant. Poor service, bad food, overall bad experience. Don't plan on returning. Too many other good choices.
Excellent service and food
A bit noisy and uncomfortable
Must have been served regular rather than decaffeinated coffee
The restaurant advertises that brunch closes at 2:30. After booking a table before that time, the entire service was rushed in an attempt to get us out ASAP so they could close. We were informed we had 5 minutes to decide what to eat before the kitchen closed. Many things went wrong during our time. Splitting the check was an issue, many of the food items were out, our waitress was not attentive despite being one of the few parties in the restaurant. I’ve been here before and enjoyed my time, but after feeling very rushed I don’t know if I’ll be back.
They are famous for their $3 mimosa and $4 bloody mary. Brunch dish is moderate on price and portion
1st time there and was great service and food was very good. Small portions however but was still exceptional.
I have to eat gluten free, dairy free, and low sugar... one of the best meals I've ever had, grilled octopus and braised lamb shank... forgot to take pics was so good
Wife and I had a great meal, the staff was friendly and the food was truly stellar. If you like food seasoned with enthusiasm, perfectly cooked and eye catching, you'll love this place! The only thing is the ambience left a little to be desired. (We found ourselves alone in the main section with the adjoining tables at capacity. that made it feel a little strange bu t by that time we were eating desert and were about o leave). Our waiter, Henry, was nice and tried to be helpful but didn't really know the menu all that well and forgot about a food allergy I warned him about when we first sat down. He was nice and he tried so I left him a good tip because I felt he was probably still learning and the effort was there. we'll be back with a larger group though, it was that good.
I ordered the lamb shank and wanted to changed the lentils it came with. On chefs recommendation I didn’t. The shank was fine, the lentils were horrible.
So noisy and kinda dumpy. The food was okay - not great. The whole place seemed tired.
Old haunt when I travel to DC. Good food and service and a rapid transition from appetizers to dessert. A bit crowded and noisy on Saturday night, but that is universal in the city. I will continue to come. I also recommend the weekend brunch.
Stylish, intimate place. A little louder than expected. Service was excellent. The halibut was a little dry, but interestingly prepared and beautifully presented. The brussels sprouts were fantastic. Normal portion sizes. A little pricey, but not over the top. We'll try it again.
This was a total dissapointment. Starting with the warm white wine, the dried out pork chop, the over cooked hangar steak, the bitter bolognese, the dried out ginger cake, and the poor service in the back, it didn’t measure close to the reviews. Our waiter agreed with our feedback after observing our food, but offered no redos. He was to have told the chef, but nothing happened but the check. The company was great, and the ice cream was great, anyway.
We incorrectly made our reservation for the following day but were graciously accommodated anyway.
Service was very good, server was knowledgeable and the food was excellent.
Great atmosphere for a fun night to celebrate a friend’s birthday. Had a gluten and tomato issue,’ and they totally took care of her! I recommend Firefly and will absolutely be returning!
Brought a friend in for
Brunch. Excellent food, fun and attractive waiter. Really creative space. Happily go again and highly recommend to others.
Absolutely amazing staff. Very attentive and made it a wonderful experience. The food and cocktails were amazing...you have to get the truffle fries. One of the best experiences on vacation. Book a reservation any time you are in the area.
First off, amazing cocktails. We really enjoyed the decor and the happy hour drink menu which included a delicious honey julep with amazing presentation. Dinner was excellent. I would describe it as a modern take on comfort food. Overall a great birthday dinner and I would recommend to anyone.
What a fun, friendly little dining gem off DuPont Circle. The food was uniquely and well prepared. The wild boar wings and the deviled egg appetizers were delicious. The pot roast always a favorite didn't disappoint. The bourbon bread pudding and their French press coffee put the finishing touches on a lovely dining experience. The staff was exceptional.
Love the decor! The food was yummy and our waitress was great!
First time dining at Firefly... great ambience and the food was delicious.
Very comfortable seating, good food at reasonable prices. Cool interior. Convenient location in DuPont
The food was tasty but portions were very small. Expensive for the amount of food. For $15 I would hope for more than one thick piece of French toast.
