The server was really nice and checked on us to see if we were okay very good food
Great service and a great brunch menu. Thoroughly recommend it.
Great meals, restaurant week menu has variety and great options. Enjoyed the meal.
I was here a little more than a year ago, and it was phenomenal then. It was even better the 2nd time around. The deviled eggs Were perfect, the scallops were outstanding, the drinks were well made, and I wish I could have sat for an hour before I had dessert. I was so full from dinner, and I ate my bread pudding anyway. Outstanding end to a vacation, I cannot wait to go here again. Even better it was restaurant week.
The hostess was very accommodating, when asked to move our reservation up by 15 minutes. However, once seated (5ppl) it took 15 minutes till we were able to put our order in. Once the orders were made multiple items listed on the Restaurant Week menu were not available and notified of the issue afterwards. The bread basket was missing butter and our waiter although seemed new was not attentive when taking orders or following up. People who were seated after us were served full meals before we got out desert. Took over an hour and a half of service.
By far the worst experience had at Firefly in many years.
Great service and excellent options for lunch, including restaurant week specials.
Mediocre gluten free options. Mediocre food. Desillutioned.
Menu was limited and difficult to remove cheese from brunch options. Hard to find healthy options. No one asked if we wanted coffee. Salad too salty. Staff was friendly and Bloody Mary tasted yummy.
I did not like the food. The options were scarce.
I’ve been to Firefly a few times and I’ve always been happy. The service was great. We decided to go here for brunch the day after we got married and the staff was so accommodating with our large group. The pancakes are a staple that will never disappoint and the Chilaquiles are AMAZING!
Came in last Sunday for brunch. Pedestrian food and inexcusably poor service. Our appetizer plates were not even removed during the lengthy meal. Entrees took over 1/2 hour to arrive. Small plate “shrimp and grits” was the best item we ate. The bloody mary’s and coffee were also solid. Ambience in main room is pleasant, but that ambience is lost entirely in the back room, which is more suitable for private parties. There are many superior options. Won’t be back.
Service was slow. One diner’s dish was forgotten. Mixed bag on the food. Fish tacos were good. Other food under or over cooked. Rice in one bowl was crunchy. Would like to try again because menu looked good on paper.
Good food and good atmosphere, service was a bit slow. Waiter disappeared twice
I like to meet for casual lunches at this restaurant. It is close to lots of offices where I have friends. The menu has something for everyone.
Was looking for a new brunch spot after a Sunday church service. Came across this restaurant in a quick search. When we arrived, I immediately saw how dirty the floor was and I should’ve turned around then. When we got to the table, my friend convinced me to stay. Though, the table was dirty and condiment holders were dusty. I got pancakes with a side of bacon and eggs. The sides were good but my pancakes were still doughy in the middle. My two friends had difficulties with their dishes - shrimp & grits and a frittata. They do serve $15 mimosa pitchers which can be a big draw for mimosa and brunch lovers. As for me and my friends, we won’t be back! God bless.
It was a great experience and atmosphere. Enjoyed it. Food choices were ok. Too much pulp in the mimosas.
Made a reservation and were seated at a very small round table in what appeared to be the bar area. Multiple larger tables visable and never used the entire time we were there. Not enough room for plates and brought out food without attempting to clear appetizer. My daughter had to hold her plate in her lap. Our server as well as multiple others were obviously annoyed with the hostess who was very pleasant. Assuming she was bullied into seating us elsewhere despite open tables.
Fabulous experience, from the tree in the dining room to the exceptional farm-to-table food. The drinks were top notch, the service was excellent, and the food was terrific. The smoked trout dip and the sea scallops with hominy/smoked bacon hash were superb. I was very impressed and recommend it highly.
Wow, have not been to this restaurant in a while and unfortunately it has gone down hill. Our server was nice enough, but he was alone in trying to service all the tables. The food quality left a lot to be desired. Hope they bounce back. This used to be one of my favorites.
Firefly was good, but not great. The menu is limited, but we picked it due to the gluten free menu. Overall, the food was interesting and fine, but not cheap and the space is not great.
The overall Firefly experience is a good one. It's a nice environment and the staff was particularly accommodating of a last minute expansion from our party of 5 to a party of 7. Multiple guests ordered the chicken and gave it good reviews. Ditto for the two members who ordered the hamburgers. My scallops were nicely prepared and the bed of grains and grits on which it was served had texture rather than just being a mushy concoction. The standout order of the evening, however, was the Transformation cocktail, a very floral and tasty gin, lavender, basil and lime concoction that was a big hit.
Service from Josh and Henry was outstanding - very friendly, helpful, and attentive. They brought a bread basket to the table that was SO good! Will definitely be returning for more brunch soon.
The atmosphere here is nice, but the waitstaff was rude and inattentive, and the food was overpriced. Our waiter served up attitude with every interaction, and we had to ask for silverware, napkins, bread and water refills.
Visiting town and was referred by a friend who frequents here often. Food was good and drinks were tasty, but most important the service was excellent! Ambience with trees and lights were soothing after a long day of travel.
Firefly was an excellent restaurant that actually felt natural, often a hard-to-find feeling in the DC restaurant scene. The service was impeccable, and the dishes delectable!
This is a kids restaurant and isn’t advertised as such
The food is tasty and large proportions and moderately priced. The service on our visit was less than attentive.
My family and I ate here 2 years ago and loved it! Cozy vibe, great food and service. This time it was not the case. The food was mediocre, shells and cheese had no flavor, my daughter ordered a hamburger without cheese medium, it had cheese and was well done and burnt. Our server never smiled and barely spoke to us. He made us feel so unwelcomed, from the moment we sat down. Maybe because we only ordered water...? 95 degree day and we were dehydrated. sorry! The manager came over and tried to make things right, he was very nice, but too late at that point. Sadly, we will not be returning. Try Clyde's, or another of the cities amazing choices.
Food was quite good, service was great. Would return again if near the area.
Delicious food, wonderful for my friend who is gluten free!
Was ok - nothing spectacular. Host and initial waiter seating us were very friendly. Our waiter however was not very friendly or hospitable. Maybe just a bad day for them but did not make our dinner any better. The octopus appetizer was actually quite good. However our main dishes were just ok. Nice that they have a gluten free menu. Did not have dessert. Would consider going there again to try other items if I was near there and needed to get a bite to eat. However, there was not enough there to make a special trip or go out of my to go back.
Always enjoy stopping here for lunch. Service was good.
The food is consistently good, creative, fresh. Friendly service-pricing is within reason for downtown DC. Nice option for a casual meeting spot. Happy to head back there anytime!
I booked Sunday brunch for a group of 7 friends and it was great experience. The brunch menu is diverse with several good options for vegetarians and portion sizes are large (perhaps too large as several of us could not finish). The brunch cocktails, mimosas and bloody marys, were only $3 and $4 respectively. We ordered two carafes of mimosa and I thought that the cocktail was on the weaker side. Nevertheless, the mimosa was still enjoyable and a good time was had by all - I would recommend brunch at Firefly.
Amazing food! The Chicken was delicious.
Nice ambiance. Seated 2 minutes within reservation time. A little pricey, but have been told, that’s just DC.
Overall experience was “meh” it was so HOT in the restaurant and my (white)wine wasn’t very cold. Food was decent ... been wanting to check this place out for a while now since I live close by but I don’t plan on coming back. Our server was great - very attentive and always checked on us. Sorry I don’t like complaining in the restaurant so I tend to do it all here.
What a great find in DC . Service was excellent and the food was just amazing. Love the sugar cookie touch for the kids.
Delicious food, served promptly, great service!
3 of the 4 in our party were gluten-free and we were able to pick almost anything on the menu! This grass-fed beef burger and fries were one of the best I've ever had. I will go again the next time I'm in DC. This place rocks!
Incredibly loud, nearly impossible to have a conversation.
