Overall, not a bad place. Food was good, service ok, location ok - but when we received the bill, each cup of drip coffee was $5 - complet rip-off.
Drinks and food were fantastic and unique. The waiter was very attentive. Overall, a very pleasant and enjoyable evening.
Food was good, great service, a bit expensive. I liked the decor with the tree and the wood panels.
Truffle fries were super good and crispy with lots of flavor. Thr braised beef pot roast was tender and flavorful.
Unfortunately we did not enjoy our dinner. We began with the shredded brussell sprout salad which was simply a big plate of exactly that, shredded brussell sprouts akin to dumping out the bag of shredded sprouts I often buy from Whole Foods. My dining partner had the duck, which was tasty, and I had the "spatchcocked hen" which was frankly, pathetic. It was a tiny, terribly bony and extremely sparse "hen" and served with very rubbery mushrooms. It should have been an appetizer, not an entrée. I was so hungry afterwards that I stopped into the Sweet Green we walked past afterwards for a nice big salad with chicken and ate the entire thing. The cost of the meal was not worth what we received, whatsoever. The place was quite busy and I was surprised since the food quality and overall experience was simply not what you expect at this price point. I did see many people ordering burgers and mac/cheese (families) so perhaps they are best for that. I have to admit that the waiter had initially suggested several other items on the menu (such as the scallops) which was perhaps a warning that the unmentioned items should not be considered (as opposed to simply identifying his favorites).
Service was awesome and a great experience! Definitely going to come back again!
Why do I always forgot that Valentine's Day prixe fixe menus are generally awful? I love Firefly, have been there many times, but I wish I skipped it this February 14. Oversalted food, crowded together tables, noisy dining room - I should have gotten room service!
I'll definitely try Firefly again, but not on holiday like Valentine's.
Everything was perfect., nd the noise wasn't too much like it is sometimes during the lunch timeframe.
I brought my wife here for her birthday and the food and service was outstanding. The only complaint I had wad the short menu.
Food and atmosphere were excellent. Unfortunately, when we arrived at our reservation time, they did not have a table for us. We waited 20 minutes and were also sat after people who came in after us without a reservation. We had to say something again to the host who was rude to us upon asking.
Food was excellent but table service also suffered. Our server was very kind and polite but forgetful of some items (coffee, other drinks etc)
I have been to this restaurant at least 20 times since it opened. I haven't been in about a year, though, and was excited to bring a friend to share this place with them. We were walked to a two top that was shoved up against the waiters station that barely had space for people to walk behind my friend's chair. She was constantly bumped and our waiter was swamped and did his best but there was no other staff to fill waters or assist him so it made the service sub par. The food was delicious, of course, but the bar was backed up so we only wound up getting one drink and it wasn't great. I was disappointed and didn't feel it was worth the cost.
It was pretty amazing for the price and we had great service with Mike. The appetizers were interesting as there were only 3 items for the deviled eggs and meatballs while we had 4 in our party. The tables were kind of close together is the only other down side to the experience. Good sized entree portions.
First time here....great food...interesting menu...great service.
Homey bistro with excellent food, wonderful waitstaff, and great ambiance.
I would especially recommend it to a person seeking a gluten-free menu.
The menu was a bit limited...food was as good, not spectacular. I have eaten there many times so wondering if there was a new chef. The cocktails were amazing! Service was a little sluggish.
The waiter highly recommended the charred Brussels Sprout bowl. He said he was better then anything else on the menu. Two of us ordered it but were really disappointed. Not much flavor and the Brussels sprouts were undercooked. My guess is the restaurant was pushing this item because the waiter did not check back to see how we liked it. Given his glowing recommendation, I was surprised by his lack of attentiveness to how we liked our dish.
excellent choice for those with dietary restrictions. as someone with celiac, firefly is always on my list when in DC to get a great safe meal that is no compromise.
I have been to Firefly many times. The staff were kind and helpful but the main server never came to see if I needed anything nor asked how my food was. I thought that the dish ordered was undercooked.
I had been for dinner a few years ago, and it was wonderful, but recently we popped in for lunch and it was amazing. I can't stop going back! Everything we've tried is outstanding, the setting is excellent, especially if you beat the crowds for lunch, and the staff is consistently pleasant and professional. If you are near Dupont Circle, Firefly is a MUST DO!
Daughter loved the make your own cookie thing!
Fantastic experience - great food and great service
We arrived and waited for over 30 minutes for the hostess to even look at us. It was busy, but she was incredibly rude and didn’t offer any explanation about what was going on and just ignored us. When we were finally seated the service was very slow at every point.
Terrific place! Great vegetarian and vegan selections. Great staff and ambiance. Get a reservation— really busy place for weekend brunch! The vegan chickpea omelette is amazing and it’s one of the best Bloody Mary experiences I’ve had.
Wonderful! Food is fresh and great quality, service is up to par!!
It’s a little dark and that makes it hard to read the menu.
Average. All the way around.
This place has really gone downhill. The food is much worse than before.
Excellent service, excellent food. A wonderful time was had by all.
Great find!! This place is awesome, right in the heart of the city / DuPont area. Small but very personal and perfect for a date of to meet some friends! Went for brunch, and had the frittata and the broiled grapefruit appetizer!! 👍👍👍
Good quality was good. However serving raw cabbage that only tastes smoky and is uncooked seems to be very experimental. I usually like new tastes, but here I was a bit disappointed. Nevertheless the meat tasted very good!
Very good food, although the restaurant could work to add some curtains or noise-abating panels to reduce the sonic levels when approaching capacity.
They're trying hard, and the food was good. Service not consistent (table next to us was offered bread, we were not), but otherwise quick. Very friendly and professional staff otherwise.
Appreciated _not_ having a special and overpriced nye menu, and just having the regular menu.
We had the roasted peppers, the truffle fries, the scallops and the pork chop. Portion size was appropriate and meat/seafood was cooked properly (not under or overdone). Pepper portion was gigantic :), and well appreciated.
We had the tuna tartar, charcuterie platter, hummus plate and the steak. It was all super delicious and a perfect setting to spend New Year's eve dinner. I highly recommend!!
The place has nice ambiance. The service was great, friendly, fast, and without question. The brussel sprouts and the hanger steak were to die for. The deviled eggs, beans, etc were downright flavorless; don't make the mistake of eating the little chunk of chorizo by itself as it was ALL the deviled egg flavoring. The roasted cabbage hunk was flat out terrible tasting, having the chemical aftertaste of a butane torch on it, yuck. And seriously, what the frack with all the pickled cabbage on everything? Who puts pickled cabbage in a FISH taco?! I know you gotta do something to stand out and be different with the hip, young Dupont Circle crowd but that is NOT the way to do it.
Food was not worth ge price. Food came out looking like it was premade out of a package. Waiter never came to check on us.. we ended up having to fill our own water.
Awesome! We needed gluten free and they did great, no upset tummies!
Just a date night for us. But turn out to be very a special occasion due the service and delicious delivered. Well worth it.
The service was great. Loved the food and it was memorable Christmas.
