About
Delicious food, friendly staff, and fantastic ambiance
Great dinner, great service, great drinks! If I’m ever in DC again, I would definitely go back!
Waiter hit my brother-in-law in the head with a pitcher and did nothing. It made a loud noise. The other table all noticed. How does that not get a small discount or dessert. Also, they failed to tell Open Table that we attended our reservation, so I got a "bad boy" e-mail from Open Table. All in all, Firefly was a disaster. There are much better, much cheaper places in Dupont.
Brunch Food was delicious, the decor was lovely, brunch drinks were very reasonably priced
Great service, great food, great wine - the perfect choice for a reunion where you actually want to hear each other speak!
Potatoes weren't cooked in chowder. Waitress mixed up drink orders. Other than that, a pleasant place and cheerful host and wait staff.
The place is cute, pleasant service, food fine. The problem is the exit into the hotel, which goes by the bathrooms. These are not properly vented, and that’s unpleasant.
Great ambiance, great staff, great food! Thanks Firefly!
My wife ordered a steak medium well. It came rare. She asked the server to take it back and throw it on the grill. Instead, a few minutes later, a new steak appeared, more rare than the first one. She couldn’t eat any of her entree and there was no attempt to make it right, such as taking her meal off of the bill.
After a 5 hour drive down from NY to DC I was wiped out and didn’t want to go far for a good meal. We found out that this amazing restaurant was in the hotel we were staying at and made a reservation. Such an amazing meal! Everything was delicious and dessert stole the show! The cherry tart is a Must!
Truly a favorite spot — reliably fresh and delicious food.
Chose this spot based on 'Kid-Friendly" factor and was definitely the right choice for us. I was able to dine out with my children in a nice place with a cute ambiance (love the lighted tree in the middle of the dining room!). Service was a little slow, but on a Saturday at 7, maybe shouldn't be a surprise. Staff was friendly. Food was a little over-priced, but the experience made it worth it. Oh, and the kids' menu brussels sprouts were a huge hit with my crew (no kidding!)...I tried them too and they were delicious
Good grub, knowledgeable waiter, creative interior.
Excellent food, loved the ambiance.
Wife and I went for V-day and got the V-day menu which was a 3 course meal at a set price. The food was amazing and service was great. Only thing of note is the check was a tad high for my taste, but worth it.
Great biscuits and gravy on the breakfast menu.
Lovely ambience and our waiter was very attentive and informative without being intrusive
Our waiter was a kind gentleman and gave us outstanding service. Food was very thoughtfully created and executed. This is a solid place for a date, dinner before a show or just to come back to try other things on the menu. Mulled wine was a great option on a cold and rainy night. Definitely recommend you try this place at least once.
Nice cocktails and ambiance. The food was very good, specifically the truffle fries, the Brussel sprouts and the crab & avocado toast. Nice evening before flying home.
The crab avocado toast could have been toasted a bit more
Service was a bit slow
Not bottomless mimosas but drinks are very reasonably priced for brunch. Lovely interior, service was outstanding.
A great find right near DuPont Circle.
I would recommend if you are staying at the hotel or are in the vicinity. The interior of restaurant is cute and cozy and the service is good. The food is also good, but a bit overpriced - maybe because it is connected to a hotel. $13 for a wedge salad, $22 for a hamburger, $32 for steak fritte, seems high even by DC standards and there are so many other restaurants offering these items at $3 -$4 less (i.e., Le Diplomate, Bistro du Coin).
Wait staff was very attentive, even after the restaurant got busy. We had a great meal and really enjoyed the bottle of wine we had. It was a great dinner which made for a great date. As the restaurant got busier (after 8 PM) the noise level rose but it was not so loud we could not hear each other.
I enjoy the dinner atmosphere: easy to talk to you dinner friends, servers are kind and easy to communicate with, fun tree in the middle of the space, big windows on one end, and a private room for a group at the other end. Loved the food so much, we'll likely return from VA soon to try more dishes!
Went with 4 adults. The server was very nice and worked very hard. The food was atrocious. I don’t see how they justify those prices or serving that to people. On top of it, there were fruit flies everywhere in the restaurant. I’m grossed out thinking about it all again.
I really enjoyed Sunday brunch at Firefly! The decor is lovely, and there were great food options for people with various dietary needs. I think the prices were pretty reasonable too, especially compared to other brunch spots nearby!
We came to celebrate our friends anniversary with them. Noise level and service were greaT. Especially the host. However the quality and quantity of the food was not worthy of its price
Excellent service. Food is good although not impressive nor differentiated from other restaurants (conventional).
Creative menu, very tasty and unusual combinations....very moderately priced for excellent quality.
Great atmosphere. Amazing service. Fantastic food.
Went for breakfast. Food was tasty. Service was warm, but otherwise pretty bad. We waited over 25 minutes for water and our waiter forgot parts of our order. He seemed to be trying, but the place was perhaps understaffed for the number of tables that came in all at once. Despite the slow or forgetful service, our waiter was very nice and welcoming. Will probably not return.
An amazing New Year’s Eve! The food was outstanding - very accommodating to food allergies. The service was outstanding and would definitely go back.
Cocktails were fantastic. The bartender, Kwame, was a pure joy to encounter; would come back to the bar just because of him.
This was the first time I'd been to Firefly, along with my 8-year-old grandson and daughter-in-law, who came to visit me in DC from Miami Beach for Christmas. We had an early dinner (4:30), which could explain the excellent and solicitous service we received from Enrike, who was attentive but not hovering. He was amazing, as was the food.
The menu was a fixed Christmas menu, so we were unable to order from the standard menu (I had so wanted to try to short ribs, which were unavailable). However, the lobster bisque I ordered was so good (I wanted to put my face in it and not bother with the spoon), I didn't miss the short ribs. I also ordered the frisee salad (consisting of frisee, beets, bleu cheese crumbles, toasted pine nuts, and a lovely vinegrette dressing) and a side of fingerling potatoes, both of which I tasted (loved both), but had to take them home with me, since the bisque was so filling. I'm looking forward to having them for lunch tomorrow.
I can't attest to the quality of my grandson's hamburger (ordered from the special children's menu), but he ate every bit of it. When I asked whether he liked it, he said that he did. My daughter-in-law had the salmon, with roasted fingerling potatoes and broccolini, and she loved it.
The restaurant and ambience are both lovely, and I highly recommend Firefly. Thanks, Enrike and Firefly, for a memorable and lovely evening.
Xmas gathering
WAY OVERPRICED. You could literally walk across the street and get the same burger for half or even 1/3 of the price. Not worth the ambiance AT ALL.
LOVED the roasted cauliflower but would have been nice to have another vegetarian option. Same with the hummus — very yummy, excellent flavor, but the only vegetarian option. In terms of noise level —- nothing out of the ordinary but we had a very loud guest at the table next to us who was extolling the virtues of her personal development coach. Yay for her, but yeah — kinda hard to have a conversation with self absorbed monologue going on.
Waited 5 minutes to find table, without being acknowledged. Finally went to bar to find someone to check reservation and seat me. No one else waiting. Waiters friendly, but a bit inexperienced. Food good, but overpriced. E.g. had great dinner for 3 in the best Indian restaurant in town for less than the price of brunch for 2 at Firefly.
Menu does not state that chorizo burrito comes laden with eggs. Was not refunded money nor given the option to choose another entree. Instead, I was given a side of potatoes. Waste of $17. Also a few staff members were arguing about an internal issue and the conversation should have been behind closed doors.
