Delicious food, served promptly, great service!
Great DC option for gluten-free. Food was great with many choices.
We had great service and the food was so yummy! Atlanta friends 😀
Child's menu good. Very noisy. Regular menu lacks regular items. Wine list very expensive for neighborhood. No happy hour on Saturday.
We were a party of 5 for Saturday brunch. Seated quickly, service was great and very attentive. Food was excellent. We'll definitely return.
Lovely location. Good food. Well attentive staff. A bit loud for conversation.
Been here for HH a few times and enjoy the menu. I was most recently here for breakfast and the service and food was meh. I had to ask several times to have my water refilled although we were one of two tables in the dining area. I had the breakfast tacos and my friend had the french toast, both of us felt the food was bland. The tacos really had little flavor. I would still rec for HH although they are busy and service can be hit or miss, and the coffee is good. The atmosphere is always nice, having a cozy feel it does redefine hotel dining.
Great for children and families. Not a lot of high end restaurants make themselves child friendly and it’s great to have this option.
Overall the experience was fair at best. Steak was particularly below average (especially for the price) with the other food items being average or slightly above average. Wine menu was below average. The service was very good which made the overall experience bearable. Would not recommend to others and will not be going back. Dissapointing as I just moved back in to the neighborhood and was hoping for FireFly to have improved since my last visit 2 years ago.
We had the octopus and shrimp and grits which were both excellent, then the whole sea bass which was perfectly cooked. Had carrots and Brussels sprouts as sides which were a bit too rich to have with fish, but were very tasty. Would have gone better with the steak or pork more likely. Service was excellent - we had no issues at all and thought he did a wonderful job. Highlight was the cookie they give kids to decorate and then bake while you eat so they can have it for dessert. Super cute idea. All in all we loved it there and will return when we come back to DC.
Pricey, a little bit of attitude that was appreciated
It took 15 minutes to get water and 40 minutes to have our order taken despite a reservation and a few prompts, which was a problem with a small child. The service was friendly and the food was good, if a little expensive.
Amazing place. Very creative menu, delicious food, great drink offerings...and so kid friendly! Great dinner, great service, highly recommend!
Wonderful food. My wife loved the shrimp and grits and we both loved the brussel sprouts. The carrot side dish was unusually good, and Yukon gold potatoes were very good as well. The chocolate pot de creme was the best chocolate dessert we have had in years. Informal dining at its best!
We went there four years ago while visiting n wanted to try it again since then. My husband also gt a complimentary mimosa for his birthday... that was very nice of them...
Nice treehugging atmosphere, creative use of space with leaf-shaped soundboards overhead. Orange juice was fresh-squeezed. Eggs very fluffy and bacon crispy. Potatoes well seasoned.
We made a reservation in advance for Mother’s Day. I selected the restaurant based on the fun theme that was described as I thought my kids would enjoy it. We were very disappointed to be seated in a plain room on the rear with absolutely no ambiance. We had to flag down waiters to get anything and just found the entire experience very disappointing. Not worth the time/travel from our hotel on the other side of town in our opinion.
Only recommendation is season the batter for the kids fish meal. It was bland. The Chilean Sea Bass was amazing!!!
We had high hopes. Firefly has a cool vibe. Unfortunately the temp indoors was a good 80 degrees so that wasn’t cool. Then our dinner took 40 minutes to arrive with no acknowledgement, which wasn’t cool. Especially since we arrived to an empty dining room. And everyone around us was eating while we still waited. Then two burgers arrived that were ordered medium but were decidedly rare, which was far too cool. Then the second round took another 20 minutes, which just was what it was. Anyhow, the manager dropped by and apologized and comped the two burgers. So, essentially $150 for that experience felt a bit much. Oh well, restaurants sometimes have off nights and sometimes one group gets unlucky. It happens. I should say that the other food that was cooked well was excellent. Sea bass and pasta and steak were all yummy.
Great restaurant for gluten free brunch options. Beautiful design, attention to detail, friendly staff. Very enjoyable visit. Especially loved our South Carolinian waiter who u derstood our Southern accents. :)
Our experience at Firefly was dismal from start to finish. Upon arriving, I went to the hostess who proceeded to raise a finger at me while she fumbled through her computer for a few minutes. Then, we sat down and were given menus, after which the waitstaff ignored us for the next 15 minutes, without asking us if we wanted anything to drink or if we were ready to order. When the waiter food arrived, the portions and the presentation were both off and the taste was average at best. My friend ordered a side of toast to eat with his omelette and the waiter forgot about it and came back to ask us what kind of toast he wanted about 25 minutes later, once my friend was almost completely done with his meal. Not once did the waiter ask us if we needed more water or coffee.
I had a reservation for 8 people for next week which I will be cancelling after this experience at Firefly.
A delicious brunch was had by all three of us!
Service was perfect and food presented well. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Several of us had dietary restrictions and they were good about accommodating that.
Service was uninformed. Interior is outdated.
Nice folks but for the price not anything really special.
No asparagus no bread cold coffee. Manager offered mimosa ,we declined. She gave us a discount
I had been to Firefly a number of years ago and really enjoyed the experience, so my recent visit for brunch was a big disappointment. Bottom line: service was slow, but even worse, the quality of the food was below average. My table ordered four different entrees, and all of them were missing something different with regards to execution (ex. eggs were overcooked, flavor was lacking, etc.). We also found a bunch of weird things (like old, dry spinach!) in multiple water cups, and for the vegetarian entrees, the kitchen had somehow run out of important staples like asparagus and kale (and their substitutions were not as delicious). I probably won't visit again; the one bright spot, however, was a reasonably priced mimosa!
Cocktails were excellent. Our server was kind and attentive. Unsure if the quality of the food warranted the price. Overall, good experience.
Food was excellent, sea scallops were incredible!
Awesome and food was delicious!
They were so wonderful for the children. Highly recommend this place to anyone!
Wonderful ambience. I met my niece for lunch on a weekday so quiet, not crowded. I have been there for dinner when busier but not as loud as other places. It is on the small side, so intimate. You must go if only to see the tree in the middle of the dining room.
Great brunch spot in Dupont! I love the unique decor and the tree in the middle of the restaurant brings me back again and again!
The host at the door did not seem to be comfortable, hard to understand. The table we were shown to was in an awkward location, we asked for another table. The reservation was made weeks in advance. We were left standing in the middle of the restaurant and we finally just sat at a table on our own. Service was fairly on point. The food was expensive for what was served. My dinner companion was ill when we returned to our hotel, without going into details. Would not return or recommend. With that said, it could have been an off night. We would also have preferred one server, not 3.
Restaurant is nice inside, but the food is mediocre. Its like eating at a friends house but you have to pay.
This is one of the toughest reviews I've had to write. The food was excellent. Every single dish was delicious. The sheshito peppers and the octopus were outstanding appetizers. My entree, the whole fish, was done to perfection and my wife and friends all had good things to say about their food. However, there are a few real complaints: 1) our waiter was not very pleasant which detracts from the experience of an expensive meal, 2) the cocktails that our table got were generally not very good (my Ommegang pale sour beer, however, was excellent), and 3) the temperature was absurdly warm.
This restaurant is not accommodating at all. They did not want to change anything on their menu. Our waiter was very good and patient, but his manager would not accommodate menu changes. The portion sizes were rather small as well.
Gosh the mains we're good, the glutien free menu was tasty. The apitizers did not come out correctly. Also the coctail first round was muffed. However Cosmo we're good for the ladies. Service was good.
The service was great. The food was a mixed bag (sent one dish back), but the kids menu was good. The decorate your own cookie thing was fun for the 6 year old. We were there with toddlers and an infant as well, which was not ideal. The restaurant was not accessible (steps at every entrance) for the stroller, and the main dining room was pretty cramped. Staff went out of their way to make it as easy as possible, though, putting us in a back room away from the other diners.
Sorry to say disappointed. The wait staff were great, but the food and atmosphere were not so much.
