Firefly American Bistro Ratings and Reviews
We visited Firefly with my mother for a late Valentines Day celebration. Firefly has a diverse menu with a nice selection of high end meals as well as several ‘ classic’ items. We chose a mixture of both and were not disappointed. The Steak Tips (a classic) were cooked medium rare as ordered and were tender and well seasoned. I had the grilled salmon. I would normally choose one of the more interesting options but the salmon was presented with two vegetables and no heavy sauces so met my desire for a lower calorie choice. All were well prepared. Overall, our food was quite good and the other meals I saw others eating left me wanting more. The wait staff was friendly but either they or the kitchen were understaffed as it did take longer than it should have for drinks, bread, and food to arrive. Not too bad though. I’ll try to come back!
The food was delicious, and the menu had extensive gluten free options. However, we sat at our table at 8:45, but didn’t get to put our drink and appetizer order in until 9:15, and the drinks didn’t come out until 9:30, appetizer at 9:45, and our meal until after 10. Our waitress was very nice, it just took way too long to even put our order in, and to get what we ordered. Perhaps it was short staffed that night? Not sure if we will be going back or not.
Food menu , bar options, service and quality of food are all excellent. Wine list is good, could be a little better, but that's us. We're wine freaks. Would return again and again.....a trifle difficult to get there, as you have to deal w/downtown Manchester traffic, special events, etc and figure out how to get in there. Once done, however, it's for sure you'll love it.
This place was great. My wife and I went there for Valentine's day. The ambience was great, the staff was warm and professional, the menu was very creative, and the food was delicious. Definately the place to go for good food at a reasonable price for a special occasion.
Great restaurant, too many chocolate options on dessert menu, I was with someone who is allergic to chocolate. The food was great. Was disappointed when a local craft beer I chose was no longer available because ‘the chalkboard artist’ wasn’t available. We will definitely be back.
My wife and I were heading to Manchester area, and decided to do dinner too. We booked Firefly because the menu looked interesting - my wife has some food restrictions. We were seated as soon as we arrived -- good idea to have reservations because it was definitely full at 6:15 on a Saturday night.
The service was excellent -- and our server told us the food is all cooked to order, which meant even more options for my wife. She had the short rib over risotto, and I had a cajun pasta dish , swapping the fettuccine for bowtie pasta. Both dishes were excellent.
Cozy place, lots of old exposed brick and high ceilings. We'll be back!
This is our “umpteenth” time at The Firefly since our move to NH in the Spring of 2016. This restaurant is by far our favorite place to dine in Manchester. Everything is great, plus the atmosphere and wait staff are nothing short of awesome. We have NEVER been disappointed at The Firefly, whether is it just the two of us having Sunday brunch, our entire family from NH, TX and MA having a group vacation treat. In our opinion, you can’t go wrong at The Firefly!
Excellent food. Good value. Server was friendly. Nice atmosphere inside, but wow does it get LOUD during brunch! I suspsect its because everyone is drunk on Bloody Marys and its a small place with a lot of seating. It was almost obnoxious. Couldnt have a conversation at our table without yelling. Next time we will try coming during dinner. We all really enjoyed our food and that alone will bring us back.
We were fortunate to have Lindsay (sp?) as our waitress. She's always so cordial, friendly and helpful -- our favorite. Lunch was excellent as usual, and our friends for whom we'd bought a gift certificate for Christmas enjoyed it very much. This was their first visit to Firefly.
Can't say enough about Rachael. She's always so welcoming.
So disappointed tonight! We ended up leaving after sitting at our table for 30 minutes having not even had our drink or food order taken. The host and server visited the three tables around us three separate times and stopped to tell stories, but wouldn’t meet our eyes or raises hands in an attempt to get their attention. What a bummer because the food is very good and we have been regular customers. We are seeking out a new restaurant tonight so our celebration isn’t entirely ruined. Our advice, skip the reservation and sit at the bar for some semblance of service.
We have been going to the Firefly twice a month for the past 18 months, ever since we moved to Manchester from a major city in SW United States. In short ...it was a great find for us which translates into our favorite restaurant in NH. We have never been disappointed. The Firefly is a “must” destination on a regular basis. Enjoy!
I have been to Fire Fly a few times. I did make a reservation but I was disappointed to see many booths open and we were seated next to the window with a huge draft on our backs causing us to wear our coats during dinner. I did ask for the booth once we were seated and was told "no sorry they are reserved'. This isn't the first time I have been seated in unusual seats when warmer/booths are available. First come, first serve with a reservation seems unfair to me to not be able to select a booth with a party of 4 yet we sat at a table for 6 leaving 2 chairs open... When I left the booths were still open.
We had a very enjoyable dinner, the service was excellent, the cocktails were great, my wife had the pineapple margarita and i had the Sterling Vineyard merlot.
The calamari and onion soup appetizers were delicious and served piping hot which i always greatly appreciated!!
My wife had the seared tuna and I had the steak tips. Both meals were delicious and once again served hot!
The meals were so large we had no room for dessert, and had leftovers.
The noise level was a little high but it was New Years Eve weekend so people were out celebrating!!
We plan to visit again in the near future.
The four of us walked over to Firefly from the SNHU arena where we went to see the Boston Pops. I loved how easy it was to find. We were greeted by a very friendly hostess who promptly seated us. The menu choices were great. Everyone had something different from scallops to lamb shank and we all loved what we ordered. The salads were fresh and delicious. We didn't have room for dessert unfortunately but we had a fresh brewed pot of coffee. The service was impeccable. I highly recommend this restaurant but make sure to make a reservation early as it fills up fast!
Overall a good find. I selected this restaurant for the separate gluten free menu as I have Celiac. I was disappointed that they even listed french fries. There was an asterisk and thankfully I noticed. The note was that they don’t have a separate fryer. That means these are absolutely not gluten free! I ordered a vegan pad Thai and it was quite bland. Everyone else enjoyed their meals.
Met with friends before a show at the Palace Theater. The wait staff were all helpful and informative. Presented the specials and made recommendations. Our appetizer, Go Go Bread and drinks were served quickly and we enjoyed them before the meals came out. All our meals were prepared as described and were so delicious. The special Mahi Mahi was the best. Others enjoyed the Salmon and Steak Frites. We all shared the chocolate cake for desert. Moist and chocolatie. With red wine made it the best.
We will go back again.
Date night for a show at the Palace Theatre so chose Firefly for its proximity to the venue. Hard to find their parking lot but parking garage close by, with reasonable rates. Started with crab cake appetizer but drizzle on top did not look too appealing, although we were pleased that there was no taste of Old Bay seasoning to be found! Selected the mahi mahi special with parmesan risotto and could get the fish without the blackened seasoning. Risotto very rich and creamy, too large a portion to finish in one meal. Lobster stuffed haddock also covered in a rich sauce which did not make it appealing to the eye, but enjoyed by the diner. No room for dessert other than cappuccinos as the meals were so filling.
